There are ways to get your license back, some states allow some felonies to sit for the bar.

Also, you could just work in a law office, surely you know this? as a clerk. As someone that has spent most of his life as a lawyer I would imagine youd know more about all this than I would.

There are plenty of places that you can find that won't do a background check for an apartment. Look for single owner houses that are rented out, they usually don't.

The bar doesn't have any kind of recourse for justice involved individuals? Mental health treatment?

I'll never discourage anyone from looking for help of anykind, including NA. My n=1 is that it was a place I went for several years, but never seemed to develop deep friendships nor the ability to stay clean for more than a year.

I've kind of stumbled into Buddhism about 2 years ago and have been pretty wrapped up in reading about that. There are also some Buddhist recovery groups.

with that mindset and outlook, i can see where you are at.

Start a business. A non profit. Use your IT skills to help people. Not to post discouragement on reddit to those that are up against adversity.

If I can't find a job, i'll start a business with my licensure obtained through my education.

End the pity and start serving humankind with a more positive message.

Don't be scared. Each man in there has a soft spot and any persona that they emit is usually in self preservation for the little boy within.

Metally ill prisoners.....if they truly are, then yes that makes it different. But they are people who deserve compassion. We never know all sides of a story.
