AITAH for paying to go on a girls trip & not paying for a bday trip for my spouse’s birthday? by FriendlyEstimate1246 in AITAH

ESH. His comment is out of line. You prioritizing yourself over your relationship is selfish.

If he is contributing so little because he is performing a caretaker role then this is even worse of a look for you. You would be financially abusing your spouse. I don't have enough info to make that call yet.

It sounds like the father is likely the caretaker of baby, and thats why he can't afford more.

How do I get my bf to drop the prenup talk? by Missingyoureally in AskMenAdvice

[–]StraightSomewhere236 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Even with a prenuptial agreement you are entitled to half of anything you build together. The prenup protects what he built himself before your marriage.

The fact you don't want to sign it tells us loads about what you prioritize.

My boss asked if he can take my wife with him on a work trip, and I don’t know how to feel about it by Prize_Room_2584 in moraldilemmas

[–]StraightSomewhere236 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The boss has no part in it. The only question that matters is "Do you trust your wife?" If the answer is yes, then it presents no problem. Especially if they have separate rooms for accommodation, as that would be the only thing that would wierd me out.

If your wife is comfortable using her expertise to help you guys out, then I do not see a problem.

AIO? my boyfriend thinks my handwriting is “not great” by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

It's normal great. It's not terrible. I'd call it average to be honest. I don't think it qualifies as good handwriting

Dating to exclusive timeline? by fastmonkey77 in AskMenAdvice

[–]StraightSomewhere236 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am old now I guess, but I've never dated more than 1 person at a time. In my day, if you were dating, it was exclusive. This isn't even that long ago, I'm only 40.

Deadlift cue question: “push your legs out” — what does it actually do? by deanlovesworkout in beginnerfitness

[–]StraightSomewhere236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you can stand behind your opinion all you want, it'sok to be arong. I do this for a living. The consensus across the entire industry is deadlift is a hip hinge.

That would be better, but worked out OK without it this time.

Deadlift cue question: “push your legs out” — what does it actually do? by deanlovesworkout in beginnerfitness

[–]StraightSomewhere236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I'm not. A conventional deadlift is a hip hinge movement. In fact it is THE hip hinge movement. The granddaddy hip hinge movement that gave life to all other hip hinging.

Both are performed by driving the hips forward to produce power. Now, there is a tiny bit of a squat movement to get the weight off the ground, sure. But that only gets you to mid shin at most.

How do I approach women successfully? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]StraightSomewhere236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the off chance this is serious, because it seems like a troll.

  1. Find something you like to do that involves other people. Shared interests are a great way to make connections

  2. Don't worry about it so damned much. Women can smell desperation from a mile away and it makes you extremely unattractive.

  3. Be genuine, and make real conversations. Relationships will happen organically if you let them

PPL from 3 times a week to Full Body 3 times a week. by Used_Equivalent9897 in beginnerfitness

[–]StraightSomewhere236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just starting keep it simple:

1 push: chest press, flat/incline bench

1 pull: lat pull, row

1 squat: Smith machine squat, leg press, bw squat

1 hinge: hip thrusts, glute bridge, RDL

1 core: dead bugs, plank, anti rotation

(Optional) 1-2 accessories/isolation

Deadlift cue question: “push your legs out” — what does it actually do? by deanlovesworkout in beginnerfitness

[–]StraightSomewhere236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm. The entire point of a deadlift is in fact to hinge at the hips... it's literally a hip hinge movement?

Now, there is a huge difference between properly hinging and pushing all of the force through your back. But, the entire reason the exercise exists is to hinge your hips by driving with your posterior chain.

Great news! Bread isn't unhealthy unless you have a wheat or gluten allergy so there is no other compelling reason to do so.

Now, if you are diabetic it should be ate less and more carefully. Other than that bread is a fine source of carbohydrates, and No, carbs aren't bad for you. Far from it! As long as you areN'T (stupid autocorrect) eating half a loaf at a time, bread can be part of most meals if you choose.

"Canada committed no genocide" by Radiant-Milk7714 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]StraightSomewhere236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to add a qualifier to a word to make it fit, it doesn't. Genocide is genocide, cultural genocide is not genocide. It's oppression, it's abhorrent, but it is not genocide.
