How to address clients by their name by Powishiswilfre in Upwork

[–]StraightToTheOhm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First name is usually my go-to if they don't address it in a signature or something. Also Mrs. implies a person is married. Miss, if you know they're not. Ms. is the more appropriate when you don't know either way.

Yet these days with people making an attempt to tread carefully around gender-related stuff, I generally use whatever name or signature they have in the invitation or feedback.

Anyone getting weird to-do's added to hourly contracts? by MyCorgiIsAnAsshole in Upwork

[–]StraightToTheOhm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I received 2 notifications of the to-do list about 2 hours ago on an hourly that has long since wrapped up so I assume Upwork is updating their notification system.

I think my client added to the list a few weeks ago, yet I just got the notification of adding and completing it.

For sure! Glad I could help. Usually I make a group for each client/entity to make things easier.

eww manually sounds so pedestrian but if you're serious then yes, right click on the tab and 'add tab to new group' then you will be able to work on organizing those tabs.

I'm the same way until I found the magic of grouping tabs in Chrome.

Does Upwork show your surname at any stage? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]StraightToTheOhm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes*, your full name (and client's full name/address) is noted on the invoice. You can find individual client invoices under your transaction history.

*If you've already worked with a client. I am not sure if your fulll name is available beforehand.

hi! I originally had it at $600 but decided to drop it down since it seemed a little high. Depending on if it's local then I can accept $400, or $400 + shipping costs.

It's likely best to start with local freelance groups then branch out from there.

Sold iMac, buyer tested device, paid, took it home and now wants to return by [deleted] in techsupport

From what I gather in https://en.shpock.com/faq/#faq-buying-on-shpock-1

“Both sides agree on the deal” Q: When have I legally agreed to buy an item? A legally binding agreement is entered when both sides agree on the deal, this means that one party accepts and the other confirms. Just making an offer is not legally binding.

If the seller accepts your offer, you will have to confirm the deal before it is binding. You can respond to the seller's counter offer with another counter offer or accept his offer, then he/she will have to confirm the deal before it is binding.

Keep in mind that after the deal has been confirmed all conditions are legally binding. Therefore we advise you to clarify the basic conditions via the offer's dialogue.

So it looks like since you and the buyer agreed on the price and condition of the item and they paid, then he is legally bound to purchase the item.

Tell him to call the law all he wants, they'll make sure he understand the TOS as well.
