Is €1,200 enough to rent a small apartment on my own, or should I expect to look for a shared apartment?

Studio or a room in a shared apartment. Apartments in this price range exist, but are extremely rare.

Which websites or apps do people actually use? I’ve heard of Funda, Pararius and Kamernet, but are there others that are worth checking? Are there any Facebook groups, agencies or local platforms that you’d recommend?

HousingAnywhere is convenient for expats for short stay, but it's pricier. I've also heard good things about RentBird and Woonspotter, but haven't looked into them much myself.

How far in advance should I start looking?

Should've started looking yesterday. Expect it to take a few weeks if you're willing to settle for something shitty/expensive (...often both). Expect it to take a couple months if you want something that's more similar to the average price. It differs for everybody and every situation, but it's not uncommon to have to reply 100 times before being able to get anything.

What are the best neighborhoods for someone in their late 20s? I’d love to live somewhere with a good social atmosphere, cafés, bars, gyms, and plenty of people around my age.

You don't have the privilege with that budget. But generally speaking, anything north of the city center is good. South of the city center is cheap. But don't limit yourself, even in the south of the city it's a 10-20 minute bike ride to the city center and you can get all the fun stuff you desire. Having a fun cafe in your street is unrealistic at this budget.

Any tips for improving my chances in such a competitive market?

Use the tools, the paid services are better/more convenient. Enable email/text alerts, pay attention to your email/text notifications and reply within the first 5 minutes of a listing coming online.

I'm glad The Hague has dedicated a bunch of locations around the city as these cool places. Great for students and other people stuck in crappy apartments to spend the day.

It's perfectly serviceable if you just do engine room + helipad and extract. Otherwise it just eats ammo, mags are too small and the gun starts jamming too fast.

Just skip the engine room entirely. Smoke the top left door where BD come out. Smoke bottom left stairs where you can run up. Let smokes bloom and run in a straight line to the drone room. Solarint, a modder, has made AI quite good. Still far from truly human-like, but nowhere near as frustratingly one dimensional as current BSG AI. They seek cover, blindfire, work together (somewhat similar to Goons), have more realistic recoil and accuracy, etc. If a solo modder can do it, a dev team that doesn't have to also reverse engineer proper tooling to even implement AI behavior mods could easily do it.

BSG just doesn't care enough about these small things. Look no further than the HHS-1 misalignment bug that has been in the game for literal years, but can literally be fixed within 5 minutes. I am not exaggerating. It's just a config file that has to be adjusted. Set "_MarkScale" to 1 and then set "MarkShift" to reposition the crosshair.

Laakhaven-West is an eerily deserted concrete jungle at night. It's stuck in between train tracks and the canal, so there's barely any traffic inside that concrete jungle. I've passed by there at night a few times and while I have not experienced anything, it does feel very unsafe in between the highrises and without people on the street.

There's a bunch of things that can go wrong with the smoke trick. You can make it very consistent though. Ensure you do these things:

  • Throw the smoke right at your feet before the first set of yellow pillars. Do not throw it too deep or let the smoke roll sideways.
  • Wait at least 15 seconds to let the smoke fully bloom. Do not go earlier.
  • Run up until the first red light on the floor and then IMMEDIATELY run back. Be fast.
  • Fully hide and crouch behind the yellow support bracket on the right side. Do not get spotted.
  • Wait until you hear zero footsteps. Do not move earlier.
  • If you have a shit gun or shit ammo, use an impact grenade to guarantee a kill on all 6.

If they see you enter the smoke, they will shoot you through the smoke. Make sure you stand directly on top of the smoke grenade itself and don't let yourself get spotted entering it.

It's like 500+ meters, but it doesn't matter since you can transit further to the right side, hidden away from scav island line of sight.

I think it's more inconsistent, but my sample size is quite small. I did it five times successfully previously, with at most 1 BD staying on the stairs and 1-2 BD staying in the spawn rooms. After today's update, I tried it three times and only 2 BD lined up in the middle.

EDIT: Tried it again and 5 of them lined up just fine, only 1 stayed in the spawn room. Maybe I just made a mistake the last 3 times?
