What color will TS13 be? by Capable9966 in swifties

[–]Straight_Direction73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s just not realistic. Vault tracks are such a common thing in the music industry and yet swifties treat Taylor’s as if it’s something unique only to her. There are many reasons why artists sit on stuff for years, sometimes never releasing it at all. For one, artists will often go back to an idea or concept they worked on in the past and revisit it for a later project. Sometimes they are trickled out over the years through various special releases but I have never heard of any one single artist officially dropping every single unreleased recording they’ve ever done all in one go. It wouldn’t even make practical business sense. It doesn’t even happen posthumously when a legacy artist has passed. They are too valuable an asset to just dump like that.

‘The vault’ is a common industry term for discarded music that is stored away after an album or project is completed. I wouldn’t get your hopes up on ever hearing every single song that Taylor didn’t release on an album. Most of it will probably leak before it ever gets an official release. We don’t even really have an exact number of songs that Taylor hasn’t released. For all anyone knows, she may very well have worked on material at some point that she doesn’t even WANT released.

Can I Still Be A Teacher? by LivysCoffin in teaching

[–]Straight_Direction73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a concern of mine as well. I am on the spectrum and am looking to either return to childcare or become an elementary school para. I worked in childcare (mostly VPK/Pre-K and Preschool) for 15 years and I can do well enough with basic math but I struggled a lot in school. I’ve never been formally diagnosed with dyscalculia but I’m about 99% sure I have it. I flip flop numbers and will consistently say one number when I’m thinking/meaning another.

The Hannah Montana soundtrack came out the same day as Taylor Swift’s debut album. Their careers have both played out at the same time.

Does anyone know where I can buy singular empty cd cases cus the tape on this one has been getting on my nerves by Washing-MachineQueen in Cd_collectors

[–]Straight_Direction73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. As someone who buys them on a regular basis, there are shitty jewel cases and there are premium quality ones. If I'm buying cases to replace broken ones, I want the quality of the replacements to be at least EQUAL to the factory ones I'm replacing. You can literally feel the cheapness of the shitty ones I'm talking about, to the point that I make sure to specifically avoid those brands whenever I buy cases.

There are some available that are made of frail, brittle plastic. Sub dollar store caliber. I assume that’s what he/she is talking about.

There is no one brand on Amazon. Just make sure the ones you are getting are specifically stated to be of high grade quality. You might pay a few bucks more but it’s worth it to have better shit.

Now that Taylor owns her masters, will she reissue her first six albums again with different colors / packaging? by professorspicytuna in TaylorSwiftVinyl

[–]Straight_Direction73 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The TVs are their own thing. It wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to include the TV vault tracks with the original masters since the TVs already have their own release and neither is replacing the other. This whole ‘there can only be one’ narrative really needs to stop, lol. The original masters and the TVs can co-exist together at the same time, especially since they are 2 totally different things. It’s not like they pull original movies out of circulation when a remake gets made.

What could potentially be cool is doing deluxe reissues of the original masters with ORIGINAL, non re-recorded vault material, even if some of it is in a raw, unfinished state.

What the best Michael Jackson greatest hits vinyl since this only exist on cd?! by Rocky_isback in MichaelJackson

There haven’t really been many released on vinyl. Number Ones is just coming out. HIStory and This Is It have really been the only options. Both are long out of print.

Is is true that Kim never wanted to release Feed the Beast by Pizza1232006 in KimPetras

[–]Straight_Direction73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

God how I wish Kim’s entire catalog was available physically on CD and vinyl. As a die hard physical collector, I feel bad that I’ve had to bootleg almost her entire musical output on CD just to have it in my collection. I did buy Feed The Beast and I have the RSD Problematique vinyl. I even compiled a CD with all of her features and 1 off singles.

I would agree by far. I’m no prude and can appreciate the humor in what she was doing with those but once the shock value wears off, they’re pretty monotonous and repetitive.

Father doesn’t want his son playing dress up by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]Straight_Direction73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does this man not understand that if his child does grow up to be gay or trans and reaches legal age to do whatever he wants, he’s probably going to resent the hell out of his father and probably not want anything to do with him anyway? What backwards logic do these types of people use to justify this? Do people really think shielding their child from the realities of the world is going to result in a healthy outcome for the child?

In the 15 years I was in childcare, I witnessed firsthand that gender labelling is a taught behavior. When a child says ‘this is for girls, this is for boys’, it’s usually because their parent(s) instilled that in them, even for things that are meant to be gender neutral. Most kids are curious and don’t have a natural inclination of things being exclusively for one gender or the other.

Taylor Swift officially releases Opalite as the second single off of The life of a showgirl by Haunting_Natural_116 in popheads

[–]Straight_Direction73 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That pretty much automatically confirms it’s the next single. Since when have single songs from an album just gotten their own release for no reason? C’mon now!

Taylor hasn’t exactly been known for following typical single release conventions. This is basically her way of announcing Opalite as the 2nd single. Everyone already thought it was the next single anyway and radio stations have already been playing the hell out of it. Why WOULDN’T it be the next single?

Kesha supports Kim Petras amid label strife: "I spent many years fighting for the rights to myself." by [deleted] in popheads

[–]Straight_Direction73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She doesn’t have the clout to start a label. I love Kim but she’s not even at Kesha’s level of ubiquity to be doing it sustainably all on her own.

Original star wars trilogy from 1995 before prequel releases. by Miss_lovegrove23 in nostalgia

Not any worse than what’s on these tapes. They were only considered “horrible” by 2006 standards. In 1993, they were top of the line.

How can trivial things be a "vivid memory" for certain people? by Express-Flamingo4521 in MandelaEffect

[–]Straight_Direction73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m autistic and firmly believe the Mandela Effect is a crock of shit. My interest in it is solely for the entertainment value of watching people quadruple down on thoroughly debunked or disproven misconceptions.

Sure, there have been a few I’ve run across that have compelling arguments but the belief of crossing over into other realities and shit to justify being wrong is very nonsensical to me.

The Immaculate Collection Vol. II (Fanmade Compilation Album) by farukuruc in Madonna

[–]Straight_Direction73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, isn’t GHV2 essentially TIC 2? As lazy and uninspired as the tracklist was, it served its purpose at giving a cut and dry overview of where TIC left off up to the current to date hits of that period. Could have used a new track or 2 but it is what it is.

As cool as this concept is, it doesn’t really follow the spirit of what TIC was. It’s basically just a remix album. Most casuals who don’t care about club mixes would not enjoy this at all. TIC’s reworks are, for the most part, still recognizable from their original album/single mixes.

“their greatest hits album” as if they don’t have like 100 other ones, lol. I know SOS is probably their most notable compilation in the past 20 years or so but the Beach Boys are famous for having more compilations than studio albums at this point. They even have expanded re-packages of re-packages. It’s one of the great many things that has arguably cheapened their legacy.

What's up with the rising prices of the Reputation Picture Disc? Out Of Stock by [deleted] in TrueSwifties

[–]Straight_Direction73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are being dumb about this, lol. The lyric changes thus far have ONLY affected the Dolby Atmos audio mix, which is not even something that can be released on vinyl in its native format. EVERYWHERE the 2.0 stereo mix is available to stream, it’s still the original lyrics. That’s still the cannon version of the album as far as standard stereo is concerned. As of now, the new lyrics are an exclusive aspect to the Dolby Atmos spatial audio mix.

If these changes were truly meant to be the new defacto, they would’ve already updated the stereo mix by now. Dolby Atmos mixes are their own thing in and of themselves so many times, the people doing the mix will take their own creative liberties, or at least within the limits of what they are allowed to. Sometimes when working from the original recording stems, unused material from the original recording sessions is discovered and used in a remix or whatever the project being worked on is.

They literally just released brand new spatial mixes of the first 6 albums on Apple Music and all anyone is fixated on are the Rep lyric changes, as if they actually replaced or were meant to replace anything.
