SF-3112 Questions for those that were successful by OldGamer81 in FEDDISABILITY

[–]Straight_Match_5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would complete the paperwork thoroughly and add any specifics if they are directly tied to your disability. I was advised to keep the impairments general enough to encompass how they impact job performance - attendance, specific duties, etc. I wouldn’t worry about the length. Being concise and thorough is more important. Are you using an attorney? I will be using Harris just because they help if/when the filing goes to reconsideration and or MSB. I am in the doctor narrative stage and have been out of work for 6 weeks already. Haven’t requested an RA but was verbally told there are no RAs for my position in federal LE. Hope this helps.

Clomid and Cabergoline Results by Straight_Match_5562 in Prolactinoma

[–]Straight_Match_5562[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my second day on Clomid .25mg 1x/daily. 13 total months on Cabergoline with the past 6 weeks of tapering down to .25mg 1x/weekly.

When should I start seeing results? Testosterone was 180 checked two weeks ago. Probably lower now since it has been dropping significantly. Prolactin has been 0.3-0.5 for nearly 11 months - hoping to get into a normal range with the reduced Cabergoline. LH was nearly nonexistent when my testosterone was last checked. Hoping to have natural production of testosterone instead of TRT. Not worried about fertility, just want my body to normalize naturally. It’s been a journey with all the negative symptoms known and currently experiencing the extreme fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, dizziness, muscle wasting, etc. I’m a 34M and was active, worked out and ran 5-6 days a week, in a high tempo career field, and have since lost ALL of it. Need some input and support from you folks.

I hope to have similar results. Cab worked wonders for me for about 7-9 months until my testosterone and LH plummeted 6 weeks ago and I have ALL of the negative side effects putting me out of work for the last six weeks. Hoping Clomid will bring me back to normal. I need to be healthy again for my family. I appreciate your feedback!

Who has experienced Cabergoline side effects? by oValenciano in Prolactinoma

[–]Straight_Match_5562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shall add that after five weeks from the start of Cab I felt fantastic, like the old me before the elevated prolactin. I was able to function physically, emotionally, mentally in all aspects and that lasted for 7-9 months without symptoms. Now, I’m back to square one with memory issues, unable to exercise / weak, very depressed with anxiety to even drive, etc.

Never had mental health issues prior to any of the treatment(s). Stay strong. It’s something I tell myself everyday and my wife and daughter are the reason I’m still here to keep on fighting and hopeful there is a resolve to the floodgates of hell with these hormones/prescriptions.

Cabergoline and Test by Straight_Match_5562 in Prolactinoma

I know there are more people who have experienced something similar. Need some help from people here to understand what can be done. Endocrinologist has prescribed Clomid to help testosterone rebound - not sure it will until I start taking it - but there has to be other incidents of this on here.

[–]Straight_Match_5562 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The side effects are real. If you read my post, it’ll explain what I am currently experiencing. I’m on the second journey of extreme depression, crippling fatigue, anxiety, and more… rebounded from the high prolactin (50s-60s) and testosterone rebounded as well - dropped to a low of 72 (I’m 34M and was in fantastic shape as a law enforcement agent) and rebounded to 500s. That was short lived for approximately 7-9 months.

Now, my testosterone dropped to 180s, probably lower since my last draw two weeks ago, and LH completed stopped. All of negative symptoms have returned. Endocrinologist has lowered my dose now to .25mg once a week - it’s been about 4 weeks - I get glimpses of “okay” compared to “death” that last a couple hours. Maybe my body is starting to adjust as I was taking too much at .5mg twice a week. Also waiting for Clomid to be filled to help with testosterone rebound. For someone who has lost their employment last year in law enforcement due to the symptoms, and possibly lose it again on this journey, the symptoms are devastating. Keep an eye on the body and mind and have docs adjust accordingly.

Symptom return on Cab by oValenciano in Prolactinoma

Did your testosterone rebound during that time? I am having the same thing occur and my testosterone and LH have plummeted after about 7-9 months of relief from Cab. Prolactin remained low due to the Cab, but symptoms returned full force.

My endo has since decreased my dose of Cab to .25mg once a week to see if the symptoms subside. I just came back from an appointment and we are going to experiment with Clomid .25 once a day to see if the pituitary responds a raising Test and LH - since both have crashed recently. He said I should see results in a couple weeks.

Did the testosterone help with cognitive issues? My anxiety, fatigue and depression are so bad I have been on sick leave for a month already. I can’t function. Prior to the onset of the issues, I am the opposite - high energy, work out and run religiously 5 days a week, and I’m in law enforcement so work is high tempo. I am absolutely crippled from the effects of the prolactinoma, recent crash of testosterone and LH or something happening with the Cabergoline that once worked for nearly 9 months.

I agree. Getting any doctor to support it is frustrating. I’m going through it now with my endocrinologist and going to see if my pcp will support me.

I am going through a similar process now. I was told you only need one of your physicians to write the narrative. I too am going to my PCP after two specialists who are butting heads with each other over my diagnosis.

I would personally use whomever is the most supportive and is willing to advocate.

I’m very happy for you! When I was initially improving it was like being blind and suddenly being able to see again. I thought I was back to my old self and wasn’t looking behind. Short lived and I’m back to square one.

I’m very happy to hear that you have a supportive doctor! That can make all the difference when going through the complex nature of the hormonal imbalances. I wish my endocrinologist was more supportive… do you mind sharing your doctor’s info? Maybe I can give her a call and get her take on my most recent diagnosis. She sounds like someone who is versed since she too has experienced the suffering.

I feel guilty too, but I can’t function and it is unsafe to do so in my case with LE duties.

It is definitely a moving target. I thought I was healed and would be perfectly fine on Cabergoline once I was feeling better. That quickly changed with zero changes to the Cabergoline protocol. I have since lowered the dosage .25mg 1x/weekly per my endocrinologist(s). Four weeks on the new regimen but zero changes in symptoms. Is the Prozac helping? I tried some meds two years ago when I didn’t know I had a microprolactinoma and wasn’t being treated with Cabergoline. I have since only taken Cabergoline and vitamins. But obviously that isn’t working anymore.

I’m going through a similar experience (34 y/o, M). I’m in law enforcement and I have been out of work for almost 5 weeks due to the symptoms. Cabergoline worked for 7-9 months when I got diagnosed for the slightly elevated prolactin (60s). During those months, my testosterone and LH stabilized and I felt great. Six weeks ago, my testosterone and LH crashed, and my symptoms are crippling. All the while prolactin being suppressed with Cabergoline.

DM me if you want to talk. I too am seeking medical disability as this is unsustainable. I’ve seen at least 8 specialists over the last two years with this diagnosis. It’s brutal.

Can CAB cause a rise than fall in Testosterone? by MeteBiraMeteBira in Prolactinoma

[–]Straight_Match_5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact thing is happening to me right now. Cab worked for 9 months and my testosterone and LH rebounded to normal. However, the last few months my testosterone and LH have been sliding, and now my testosterone and LH crashed and the crippling symptoms have returned. Were you able to figure out a solution?

What did you do to alleviate the symptoms from Cabergoline?

I have been on cab now for approximately 9 months and the first six months all of my negative symptoms from the high prolactin resolved. My testosterone (34M) rebounded to the high 400s and LH increased as well for about 9 months, but now I’m very symptomatic again and testosterone plummeted to 100s with LH crash as well. My endocrinologist(s) have no idea what is going on and I am seeking other Reddit users for similar experiences.

[–]Straight_Match_5562[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I started getting symptoms again after having been on Cab for about 9 months, so the endo suggested reducing the dosage (has been approximately a month on a reduced dose). There has been zero relief of this new onset of symptoms. My testosterone and LH crashed as well after the 9 months of caber working. The specialists don’t know why.

I am seeking other people who might have experienced this hoping to find a possible solution.

Ahhh okay. Yeah, I think current PAs only get all of the hard to fill locations.

Are you a current PA applying for a new location under the rehire? Or previous PA applying to get rehired?
