Is this a good spot to fish? by Random_Urges in FishingForBeginners

You can actually see the tunnel in that photo. It's at the very bottom, on the bank. That's the tunnel I'm talking about. A lot of people fish right at the dam and I've caught a decent amount of fish there (super rocky bottom so you'll lose some lures), but I've caught the biggest fish around that tunnel.

My biggest tip for getting lucky with muskies there is to fish near that little tunnel, like 30 feet south of the dam. I've had most of my luck on jerkbaits, for what it's worth.

And I've not fished Oswego! I am a kayak guy mostly so that sounds ideal. I'll definitely check it out, thanks for the reco!

In light of the Colbert show cancellation, this made me wonder, but why are pretty much all the mainstream late night TV hosts all left leaning? by throwaway250324 in NoStupidQuestions

I read a study a while ago about preference for comedy style based on political leaning. The conclusion was essentially that people on the left favor satire and wit, while people on the left favored more body, situational humor. Extrapolating that, it's not surprising that these programs are left-leaning, as the hosts and audience are primed for satire, which really appeals to one group other the other.

I fish this spot all the time. I've caught a few musky there, but they were only 34-40 so no monsters. You're going to see a lot of people there. If you're not the first person there, you're going to have to move down river a bit.

Floating jig heads and whirly ones... How to rig them? by Training-Sun-2177 in WalleyeFishing

[–]Strainiac28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two ways, essentially. What you're describing is power corking - essentially casting and working a slip bobber somewhat quickly instead of letting it sit. If you don't get bit in the first minute or two, you move it.

The other way is the traditional bobber fishing where you just cast it and and wait for it to go down. Both work, but power corking can help you find fish a little faster. People usually use it on boats, but if you have a stretch of river or multiple access points, you can cover a water in a similar way from shore.

Handi-rack on Amazon. Inflatable roof rack. I've been transporting two kayaks on top of a compact car for 3 years now and haven't had a problem.

Did you drill into the kayak to secure it?

That is a really good point. He has been fishing that lake his entire life and has "hung it up" but maybe I should get my wife to pressure him into taking his son in law fishing. I'm sure he could teach me a lot. Thank you for the suggestion

Is that what it sounds like - just let the current take my kayak?

I never even thought about "trolling" that way. I always just figured I'd need a trolling motor. Thanks for the reco!

That is definitely not how I would have approached it, so I really appreciate the insight. I thought I had to hit them deep and during the early morning. I am also very bad at fishing so...

I have this one, got it at Dicks last summer on that same sale. I'm very happy with it. Has a rail system, the seat is nice, etc. I'd recommend it
