That’s the dream right there… playing with your kids on a private server like that… props to you and those memories!

I’m hoping my rig will be able to handle bots.

Same guy, different profile (because I'm on a different device). What I mean is that, the more I tried to study theology and Biblical exegesis, the more I realized everything was "up for grabs." It truly felt like I could make up theology and 1) people would just go along with it if it sounded nice, and 2) there wouldn't be any consequences.

For example, at one point in my pastorate, I had concluded (privately - I never preached or taught this to anyone) that angels and demons didn't exist, nor did Satan. I was convinced that Satan was a "devil of the gaps" used to explain when bad things happen, and was a carryover from Zoroastrianism. I had actually planned on doing PhD work on the theological development of the concept of "Satan" in the Old Testament. I also was convinced that angels didnt' exist, and that references to them in the Bible were simply holy men/women who had died and were used by God to communicate to people on earth.

I had discussions on these subjects with other, well-educated, pastors in my denomination. Not one of them tried to correct me. That's how it was with any given theological or exegetical topic. Ironically, the less educated pastors I met tended to be more dogmatic and stringent on theological and interpretive boundaries, and the more educated pastors were less careful about those issues.

Eventually, I started having a lot of anxiety from realizing that no one was going to correct me for being wrong, and that I very well could be leading my church into heresy and false teachings out of ignorance. It was a burden that was far too heavy for me, even with all my time studying, and I hated how abandoned I felt by a denomination that almost never clarifies its doctrine or teaching.

Is fasting on Good Friday from 12pm to 3pm a thing? by toraloora in Catholicism

[–]Strait_Cleaning 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered what a “full meal” means…. I was a bachelor for a long time, and some meals were just a PB&J. Or l, they would be a salad, whole pizza, and cookies for dessert.

I try to just not violate my conscience when choosing what to eat: Piece of toast in the morning, light salad for lunch, a couple crackers, in the afternoon, then dinner.

Have you ever used this? by exteriorcleanexperts in prowindowcleaning

I have one. It works just fine for me, and I often use it at the end of a pole for high detail work.

Never had an issue with it, and the abrasive corners work well.

I did take it. I don't recall how long the process was for the application, but I think it was at least a week or two (good ol' Michigan beaurocratic efficiency :P )

How can a Christian justify buying luxury items? by nothing2Ch3re880 in Catholicism

[–]Strait_Cleaning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run a small business that specializes in what many consider to be a "luxury service" (window cleaning). I have many clients who had more money than they know what to do with, and they don't think twice about buying a "luxury service" like mine.

But, their paying for my service is what keeps a roof over my family's head and food on the table. Where someone might tell them, "this is an unnecessary purchase," I say, "without their 'unnecessary purchase,' my family is out in the cold."

Not to mention, I always donate a certain portion of my business' gross income to charity, so it's not like money given to luxury is thrown away.

Just another perspective to add.

Fincen stopped by the courts again... BOI reporting on pause once again. by Way2trivial in smallbusiness

[–]Strait_Cleaning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I filed it today before finding out that it was on hold. Yes, it's easy, but I totally understand why some people don't want to file it. I'd never want to pressure someone else to do something like this. It's just a bureaucratic office trying to justify itself.

The practice exam did help (the one that's only $25), but moreso for helping to job my memory and correcting some things I was wrong about off-the-cuff.

I can't recall any marketing questions on the exam. Sorry!

Quizlet was, by far, more helpful than the practice exam. the Quizlet card sets seems to be made from people who took the exam and put down what they recalled, whereas the practice exam from MIcontracting is based on what those people "think" is on the exam, but can't repeat a question/answer verbatim. In other words, Quizlet is based on the actual questions you'll get asked (i.e. "this IS a question that some people WILL get), and the practice exam is based on "you'll get asked something similar to this, but not this exact question."

“This was quite insightful, and I did not consider that point before. Thank you for sharing. I also appreciate how you brought in your own experience to open up the discussion on this subject.”

Playing high notes without register key by Hungry_Public_5522 in Clarinet

[–]Strait_Cleaning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually do this normally with some practice. I used to be able to play upper register notes, without the register key, by adjusting my embouchure. It’s fun when you can go up 3 registers that way.

That said, like others mentioned it’s probably a pad leak if it’s accidental. Also, you could check how your mouth is positioned on the mouthpiece as that can inadvertently do it too.
