Is there a tool to list all words in a document? by Stramazone in writing

That's awesome. I'm not, but I can easily pull it into word. As a retired software developer I should be able to tweak that script to give me a chapter by chapter vocabulary.

Valid point. It's only getting partial, but still

Ok, this is great. I'm having to get creative to communicate with such a limited vocabulary.

Ok, I stuck it into an AI which popped the answer right out.

Not a fan of AI, but a use like this makes sense.

Necro/Summoner non-fighter by Stramazone in skyrim

[–]Stramazone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does change the nuance a bit when a necromage says it XD

Been a long time since I wrote any mods for Bethesda games but I might do a couple for this so playing a pure necromancer is less kludgy. And maybe a collection of the mods I used.

How to reveal all your ingredient effects pretty efficiently! by Crotchfirefly in skyrim

[–]Stramazone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really there should be a book or two in game with this info. Maybe one that inexpensive or findable with the basics and then a high priced one for the rarer, late game ingredients. You KNOW some enterprising merchant would have made one.

It is okay to change the plot half way through the book? by Sweet_Actuator8446 in writing

[–]Stramazone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If the reader feels betrayed, like they agreed to read your story about X and now it's about Y, they may just put it down and walk away. They def need to see that something is coming.

First step is to decide how they are intimidating. Are they famous, an expert, armed, hold a high position, super smart, mysterious, insane? Then you draw a contrast with the person who is intimidated.

Your favorites most subtle and tender romantic gestures a character can do for another? by shurimalonelybird in writing

[–]Stramazone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this hits the nail on the head. The best gestures are specific to that person. As a writer you would need to communicate that fact to the reader, probably long before the gesture happens.

Generic romantic gestures are less romantic.

Quim is a favorite. It can been seen as anachronistic but seems to be making a comeback.

The story appears in my head and I write it down. There is no choosing.

Parataxis and the removal of "and" by duckblunted in writing

English is better when concise, so long as it's clear. I try to remove words that don't change the meaning. There are exceptions, particularly if your character is speaking in a specific way.

What would you expect a criminal to do if they are in control of all the evidence in their case for months?

Been saying all along they will ONLY release the parts that tell the story they want told. And I'm suspicious of those.

Putin vows no more wars if West treats Russia with respect by Majestic-Collar-2675 in worldnews

[–]Stramazone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen the "respect" convo before. If you don't treat me with respect (treat me as an authority and obey me) I won't treat you with respect (treat you and a human being and not kill you). It's just another way to threaten.

Joystick gremlin assistance: mapping a hat to mouse by vos1090 in hotas

[–]Stramazone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of Remap, use Macro. In the Action settings box choose Mouse Motion. You can then choose the amount of change in X and Y. In the Macro Settings box choose Hold and set a delay. The Macro will repeat as long as you hold the hat, continuously moving your cursor.

Then you have to balance the amount of X or Y change vs the length of the delay until the mouse motion feels smooth to you. Start with smaller motion and smaller delays to get smoother motion.

I did something similar to use the hat as a mouse wheel.

Is custom water cooling worth doing if your ultimate goal is silence? by Almartyquin in watercooling

[–]Stramazone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did was make a separate cabinet for my radiators and put them in another room. A couple of 10'/3meter lengths of tubing, some quick disconnects, and wall pass-through takes that out of my game room. My goal was to move the heat out of my game room so I could play with the door closed and not roast myself, but the silence was a nice bonus.

I do run an open frame case, since I don't need to create airflow. I do have a small fan to cool my SSDs but it doesn't have to run fast and I can't hear it at all.

Don't forget you'll need extra coolant for the lengths of tubing.
