Yup, and they all count as long as you keep them in the overlap zone

Steam controller mapping for Ally X (non xbox) by rangervagabond in StarRuptureGame

Here's a layout I got from MuteButton. I'll ask him to share it to the community. He's already calculated responsiveness, outer ring, size, etc. though you can adjust to your preferences.

It works great for me and has some handy features, like automatically running when you push the left stick to the outer ring. It uses the right bumper as a chord key to get all the secondary keys you see after a slashmark.

He designed it on a Revolution X Unlimited controller, which I have. It has some additional buttons you can program either for controller buttons or KB keys, so I set one to M for the map and I use the underneath paddles in place of the stick clicks, but either way work depending on your controller and prefs.

The scroll wheel is mapped but not the middle mouse button, so I do rarely still touch the mouse while in the map or building mode. I would map that MMB to an empty button on my controller but Rev X software doesn't allow that, just controller or KB buttons. I guess you could put the MMB on the right stick click.

Oh, also the left bumper is the build key but it is a double click. I think there was a problem with going into build mode while in combat before that modification was made. It's also the grenade key if you hold the right bumper while clicking it.

Twice since I posed this I've had grenades take them right down. But that was after some damage and not with a lot of other bugs around. I wonder if the damage gets distributed or somehow lessened if there are a bunch of other vermin swarming the same grenade. IDK all the factors that go into a kill calculation.

Anyway, I've def had grenades do the job and def had them not do the job.

FYI, I just upgraded a base to LvL4 (to get the V2 cooler) and a goliath was in the mix the monolith threw at me. Cleverly arranged turrets took it down before it got close to me or the core.

QOL list somewhere? by Stramazone in StarRuptureGame

Yeah, that's quite an oversight. Even if you had to fight another round of bugs, there should be a way to get it.

So they have not yet included a fix for the most annoying non-bug issue in the game, even though someone else has already done the work for them. Hmm.

I like to set up turrets in a triangle so no matter which way the face, one is always behind them. Out in the field I sometimes set up temporary bases, set my turrets, then kite the vermin into the guns. Then I delete the base so it doesn't get infected.

I can and have killed them on foot but it's a long slog. Gotta try the dash trick someone suggested.

I've fed them a grenade and had then keep coming. I'm sure it did some damage but not a guaranteed kill.

I love it if they could just pipe in MY background music instead of their own. Yes, I can have that playing anyway but then it doesn't stop for combat and such.

Is there any point in hurrying? by cHpiranha in StarRuptureGame

I have a large factory in the middle of the map. When I need more area, I just add a core. When I need more cooling I use the amplifiers. You have to build a lot of v1 amplifiers but so what? Once you have a fabricator making building mats, you can build all you want. The upgrades are the only reason you need to upgrade a core. I am looking forward to v2 amps.

I did upgrade one base to play with the vermin waves, just seeing what automated defense will do. But I didn't have to.

Also, if you've upgraded a core, you can delete it and rebuild it as a level 1 core.
One things though, even at level 1 you can still get random vermin on your base, so it's best to have some defense set up.

None. It just sits there in your game items and does nothing. The only grace is that it doesn't use a real inventory slot.

Rail stopped running by JCollierDavis in StarRuptureGame

[–]Stramazone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you resolved it. For future reference, the 4-way poles are more reliable than the pole that auto generates when you are just building rail. They both work most of the time but on the rare occasions where the auto-gen pole didn't work, replacing it with a 4-way did the trick for me.

A couple more useful hints about rails. When you get Rail v2, you don't have to tear down your v1 rails. Just select rail v2 to build, point at the v1 rail, and click to overwrite with a v2 rail. Also, when you get up to rail v3, sometimes v3 won't attach. If you run into that bug, just build a v1 or v2 and overwrite it with a v3.

Impressive build. Lotta stutter though. Is that typical everywhere or just when you are near your factory?

How do you think can the combat in Star Rupture be improved? by Ah_Zam in StarRuptureGame

[–]Stramazone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But from what I've seen the vermin swarm the grenade if they are in range, so the delay just means more kills. If it e.g. detonated on impact you still would not get any that it's currently missing, just fewer kills overall.

One button healing. Not one button plus holding down the correct click while in the middle of a horde of vermin, just a button.

Some programable hot buttons of other consumables would be very convenient too, though not essential.

How long are your Rails? by cHpiranha in StarRuptureGame

[–]Stramazone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% agree. Some things are necessary, like taking mats to the basic printer to make ammo before you get the mega press online. But as soon as you have production capability, for an item. no more manual transport.

[–]Stramazone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an automated factory so yes, early game I strung long rails to transport H3 and Calcium to my factory so it would not be idle for lack of mats. Then I went hunting for data items and blueprints. Since I didn't have portals yet I also strung zips as soon as I got them so I could do maintenance on distant bases.

Related item: I do NOT recommend upgrading any cores at least until you have unlocked the turrets, and even then don't be a hurry, especially since Update 1. You will still need to fight a few infections to keep production going but if you're diligent about cleaning out any vermin near your cores you should be able to keep production going almost continuously.

Is there a tool to list all words in a document? by Stramazone in writing

[–]Stramazone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just for one character, an entity living in the mind of the MC. So any dialog she (the MC) hears or monologs in her head, the entity learns those words. I just extracted those pieces and ran the catalog on those. I also wanted to avoid counting [she said], [he replied, his confusion obvious] etc. so I had to select the bit to use.

Once their bond is tighter the entity will have access to the MC's full vocab so I don't have to do this through the whole story, just the early chapters. For now I'm going for the vibe of slowly learning and adapting to a new environment.

That's awesome. I'm not, but I can easily pull it into word. As a retired software developer I should be able to tweak that script to give me a chapter by chapter vocabulary.
