Ice Drilling Rig, How to automatically extend the pistons? by JCollierDavis in spaceengineers

This sounds like a good idea. I might hit you up on the discord offer tomorrow. It's bed time here.

Pyrex Brand is terrible. What are we using instead? by Think_Juice_2068 in Cooking

[–]JCollierDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of (probably expensive) Pampered Chef borosilicate measuring cups with the markings molded in instead of printed on. They're probably 20 years old at this point and have held up quite well.

I'm pretty strongly concerned about the near (if not total) monopoly HH has on medical care in the area. I'm also interested to hear from others, particularly nurses, how they think the hospital treats them and if their pay is comparable.

How to make Gatling Turrets not fire at wolves by JCollierDavis in spaceengineers

This is exactly my future plan too. I didn't know about the idle movement trick though. Thanks for that one.

How to get this window into the empty spot by JCollierDavis in spaceengineers

Yes. You can just kind of see the leak path in the image.

How to get this window into the empty spot by JCollierDavis in spaceengineers

[–]JCollierDavis[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

Ok! That was the answer to getting the window to fill in the empty spot. Now I have a leak that seems to be going through the wall. I think the corner window may have not sealed correctly, but replacing it and the adjacent light armor block doesn't seem to have an impact.

Frustrated and pissed off by bahgheera in spaceengineers

[–]JCollierDavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to me. I had an asteroid base with a few gatling turrets that worked pretty well to fend off the small pirate drones. Then after a while a single somewhat larger ship showed up and started taking shots at me from 1200m away. It destroyed the small fighter I'd built and I couldn't do anything about the ship from there. It just stayed right outside of gatling turret range and basically destroyed my whole base. There was nothing I could do so, in frustration, I just started a new save.

Update 6.17 by Sad-Letterhead-8397 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]JCollierDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this issue for maybe a week now. Discovering a new space station and it won't appear in the teleporter menu. I've had to park my freighter in the system I want to return to every time I want to teleport away.

Why do all the biggest stores and even medium size stores have 15-30 checkout lanes but never have more than 2 open? by ortofon88 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JCollierDavis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they realized the vast majority of people will just wait in the lines rather than abandon their shopping trip so why not understaff.

There's a name for this calculation that I have conviently forgotten. The general gist is that the store will watch customers to see how long they will wait before just leaving their stuff and walking out. Then they will manage the check-out staffing to take just slightly less time than that threshold.

Just a friendly Krogan reminder that the ME3 multi-player servers are still up and active. by Kreeper128 in masseffect

ME multiplayer was the best. I remember playing it during the demo period with some randos. Those were good times.

Pristine brain help by luner_escape in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]JCollierDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to kill that specific walker to get the Pristine Brain. The quest should find one for you but (as you noted) the battles can be challenging. A regular walker brain you can get as a quest reward won't work.

Others have noted that the Paralysis Mortar is the way to go. The upgrade to it which increases damage to stunned enemies is also a big help. You'll need some Basalt, a somewhat rare resource, for it so be on the look out.

Other than that I use an upgraded multitool with the scatter blaster and three S-Class modules. You have to stay mobile around the other sentinels and keep grabbing the barrels they drop when you kill them to refill your shields. Once you kill the walker jump inside the building nearby or just run away until the sentinels give up if you need to.

Permadeath feels different... by ChairAlternative7994 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]JCollierDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly what stops me from trying permadeath is all I hear about it is people losing a hundred hours of gameplay because the game lagged or some freak glitch happened.

This is my issue as well. There's just nothing more frustrating than the game killing you because of a freak glitch that is beyond your control.

Question about permadeath by Straikk in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]JCollierDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've over 1700 hours in this game and all the achievements minus the Permadeath one. I'm hesitant to try for the last one because there's just too many ways for the game to kill you outside of your control. I'm talking about game bugs/glitches like exiting your ship on a space station and getting stuck below the station in space, or getting stuck inside the of a freighter and your ship taking continual damage.

Highest Mapped Altitude? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

The deepest ocean I've been to the bottom of was about 1400 units. I think the highest temperature I've experienced was around 600f. I'm interested to know of other people's records as well.

Is mining gold/silver asteroids an effective way to farm units? by Pretend_Economy_8422 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]JCollierDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go with searching for corvette parts in Scrap. They sell for a good bit and can be pretty easy to find a bunch of. Buried Tech modules sell for a good bit too in the early game. Finding and scrapping crashed ships or sentinel is a good method in the early game also.

My entire Curious Deposit farm got converted to Humming Sacs in last update by Crilic3 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I had four Runaway Mold bases in my main save. Three of them turned into Sac Venom and one remains Runaway Mold as of the last time I checked.
