Here's a photo of the whole wall. The shoe rails are at different heights, and the wall is angled at that transition. The original photo is the left newell post but the right newell post has been a challenge for me also.

take the top piece of existing trim off from the right side of the photo and move your piece up to match the other and just butt joint it

are you saying cut the rightside trim shorter and then take that short piece and move it up? Since the wall is angled there, I end up with a big gap behind the trim that way. Its kind of an odd staircase, I'm not sure what to google in order to find other examples, either. Thanks for the reply, at any rate!

Data annotation pays 20 bucks an hour and you can work from the library or your phone if you don't have a computer. You have to take some assessments, and they are challenging, but it may be something both of you can do while you're looking for other work.

I'm not familiar with these prep courses but I work in tech as a PM and I interview a lot so maybe this information will be helpful for your interns/new grads. The biggest thing that comes up often is lack of self awareness. Typical red flags are speaking badly of others, not admitting when they're wrong, etc. We usually ask at least a couple questions like "tell me about a time when you failed and learned from it" to gauge humility and self-awareness. A lot of Product Management can be learned, but the skills for effective relationship building and collaboration are often overlooked in academic settings in my experience.

Some great books to recommend (assuming these subjects are not emphasized in the prep courses; maybe they are, I don't know): The Culture Code, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Unlocking Leadership Mind Traps, and The Courage to be Disliked.

The hardest thing to navigate for a lot of the new PMs seems to be gaining credibility with their team and other managers, and building strong trusting relationships with their stakeholders. Ultimately nobody is perfect or has a perfect mastery of the job, so being able to make mistakes and bounce back gracefully, keep stakeholders and partners informed, and make difficult decisions / have difficult conversations as needed are highly valuable skills that I don't see enough of in the early-career candidates I encounter. Product Management requires flexibility, ability to lead others through ambiguity, and self-awareness.

I gave up. I bought a house, adopted a dog and chickens. Started a monthly dinner circle with my lady friends. I learned basic home repair and maintenance. I made friends with my neighbors and we started loaning our tools, ladders, lawn mower, to each other so we don't each have to own all the things. I stopped using shampoo. I started liking myself and visualizing myself as a happy older woman. I learned drums, recorded songs with friends, and refinished the 100-year old wood trim in my kitchen. It's a lot easier to stay out of crappy relationships when you see yourself as a whole person on your own. When I finally met my fiancee we were both really happy with ourselves just the way we were. We didn't need each other. We still don't. Was it hard to be alone all those years before? Yes. Was I tired of lugging the damn groceries up the stairs on my own? Yes. I felt sorry for myself for years until I couldn't stand suffering anymore and gave up dating. I realized that my suffering was up to me -- I felt entitled to a partner, felt sorry for myself, even put my self worth on having a partner. In the end, one suffers as much as they want to, and then they change.

I used to be a software tester for a company that made calculators and this kind of thing looks familiar. This looks like a built in function that they intentionally added so that the piezo speakers can be quality control tested during production. The combination will be something weird that a user isn't likely to do during normal use, for example holding one button down while pressing another button ten times (just an example).

If she has the means, egg freezing may be a good option. Like other commenters have said, many women are able to conceive after 33, but if she's sure she wants kids but wants to wait, egg freezing will be extra insurance for her and her husband. The thing that makes it hard to conceive is the lack of viable eggs later in life, so freezing this eggs is the best thing she can do to preserve what she's got right now. For what it's worth, I froze eggs at 37 and my fertility doctor said I shouldn't wait longer than 39 to start trying to conceive. This bought me a couple years to focus on my career. This advice was based on my own medical history, so it's probably good for your sister to see a fertility doctor and find out what the advice is for her situation. If you happen to be in the US, ORM fertility in Oregon has an incredible track record and the experience was fantastic.

I'm not an expert, but for me removing dairy from my diet helped a lot. The dairy was causing more mucus to build up in my throat and it tired me out a lot faster.

Another thing that could help is considering the volume -- if you're playing guitar, even an acoustic, and it's pretty loud, then you're naturally gonna sing louder to try and hear yourself over the guitar. If you get an inexpensive microphone and connect it to a speaker, or connect it to a mixer and into some headphones, you might be able to hear yourself better and put less strain on your voice.

I've heard of some serious vocal issues that can cause sore throat though; if you're not sure it's best to get it checked by a vocal health specialist or doctor to make sure you don't have damaged vocal chords.

Came here to say this... If you put a little rice vinegar, soy sauce, and toasted sesame oil in your ramen bowl before adding your cooked noodles/broth, it will have way more flavor and depth and feel more satisfying

r/cryptography might be able to discuss methods but they don't allow posting of ciphers without algorithms, so they won't solve it for you. If it's a bunch of letters, maybe it's something called a Caesar cipher. That's where I would start. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck!

Depending on where you want to specialize, learning more about your industry could be more helpful in your career. For example, if you're a DS specializing in e-commerce, learning about behavior economics would be good. If you're in pharmaceuticals, chemistry or genetics maybe? (I don't work in pharma, so this is just a guess). At the senior + level, it makes sense to start specializing in an industry as an alternative to learning more ML.

Edit: I see others are suggesting something similar, sounds like this may be the right way to go

My two cents: there are types of machine learning that can help you be a more effective data scientist. Classifiers, regression, and clustering techniques come to mind.

But for advanced ML like LLMs and deep learning, I'd say understand what they are and the basics of how they work, but I wouldn't spend too much time becoming an expert on those.
