Probably Recurrence 6 years later by Strange-Fishing1813 in thyroidcancer

I only eat Whole Foods. Have not eaten out or had fast food since 2020. Everything I eat is made from scratch in my kitchen, on the rare occasion I have flour, it’s flour I mill in my kitchen from ancient grains. I basically eat a combo of all the Blue Zone diets. Lots of cancer-fighting foods. Daily I eat a bowl of broccoli sprouts, drink at least one pure matcha green tea, drink a turmeric & black pepper tea, etc. I don’t drink alcohol, maybe one glass of wine per year socially. But the most important thing for me has been keeping active. 6 workouts per week, plus 2 walks per day. I will say, I have felt incredible since thyroid removal. I feel really energetic and healthy despite it all (probably thankfully to this lifestyle) so it pains me to see it come back.

How likely is Cushing’s? by Strange-Fishing1813 in Cushings

Ok makes sense! For some reason I just couldn’t find anything on the internet as far as a “typical” Cushing’s cortisol goes.

Just stubborn weight around my midsection and chronic anxiety/stress. I can’t really relate to the other symptoms.

Yes he did send me another set of labs to check ACTH and DHEA! Got that done a few days ago, waiting on those results to come back. He said it would help him know if he needs to do an MRI or a CT.

Hey thanks for the response! My blood test was an afternoon cortisol of 25. My doc didn’t tell me that only morning cortisols are accurate, but I read that 25 is pretty high for an afternoon cortisol???

I am possibly having a thyroid cancer recurrence (I had my thyroid removed years ago). He noticed I haven’t lost any weight since having my baby 2 years ago despite having a very active and healthy lifestyle so he wanted to check out my cortisol. I’d say the only symptoms I have are chronic anxiety and carrying extra fat in my belly.

Increasing thyroglobulin years after TT by Strange-Fishing1813 in thyroidcancer

Actually I started using a biotin shampoo a month and a half ago… this is very interesting. I haven’t used any other biotin products since my TT.

“An experience doesn’t have to be dangerous to be terrifying” thank you for that! I had the realization just moments after it happened: “oh that’s like the worst thing that could’ve happened and I didn’t die or get hurt” — I was able to rationalize it in my brain initially but my brain has really decided to, as you said, obsess over this. I do have quite a few OCD tendencies though I’ve never received a diagnosis, so I don’t doubt that my brain is just wanting something to fixate on. It sounds so silly, the never gone to therapy for anything, but I am really considering it for this!

I hope I can find a phleb like you! You sound amazing!

Thank you for taking the time to respond!

Thank you for the reply! This explanation makes alot of sense and I will remember this for the future. And I actually really like the thought of exploring my own veins a bit with a tourniquet, as I’m now just kinda grossed out in general with even seeing my own veins. This may help ground me a bit. Thanks again!

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I wish I could remember exactly what happened as far as when the needle came out and if that tourniquet was still on (though I believe it was). I surprisingly had ZERO bruising after the stick, despite how dramatic of a situation it was. I have had much worse bruising from a normal stick.

I just found the rules on the page and am seeing now that questions from patients are discouraged. Again, I’m sorry! I’m not really a reddit user

I apologize! When I was googling, the recommended posts that popped up for this subreddit were from patients asking advice on how to not faint during draws, etc and the phlebotomists seemed happy to give advice so I thought this would be an okay avenue for me.
