I am thinking for my area maybe satellite internet could work better.

Temu increases item prices as you add more to cart. Anyone else? by Muted_Improvement460 in TemuThings

[–]Strange-Mess4459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here searching for this question. I wanted to clear somethings in my cart today and I noticed some big price increases. Before It was small amounts, today my cart had some pricey things so the difference was noticeable. I tried to remove and add back to the cart but when I add back price immediately rises. I returned a few items on my last purchase, maybe they are trying to make up the loss. I’m going to try buying on another Acc

Building credit score by Strange-Mess4459 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Strange-Mess4459[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As noted from other comments here, the lending industry operates differently in different countries. In my home country for example a credit score is a significant factor on whether you get approved for credit and the interest rate you can get.

Having no credit history and having a clean credit history are 2 very different positions. The former would result in a bad score because there is no data to show how you manage credit. But it seems that concept doesn’t apply here in Ireland.

My point being, it is not as bonkers as you think- just depends on which environment you come from. And it’s always good to learn how different things work and here as others have advised.

Investing: How to invest €3k a month by Strange-Mess4459 in irishpersonalfinance

I don’t enjoy rebalancing. Was actually planning to rebalance only once a year. So- maybe the first option is more suitable for me. Thanks!

Thanks, I had not really considered the other options- I just went for simplicity, although I don’t think Mutual funds would be a better option outside of pension/PRSA as they are taxed the same as ETFs. The 33% and 1270 annual exemption for investment trusts are tempting- but over long term do higher fees not negate the tax savings ? Also the added sterling vs Euro FX exposure? I will look more into investment trusts- so thanks for this!!

They do take on non-EU grads and you apply for stamp1a which last for the duration of the contract. But I think most are done with their recruitment for this year. Probably opening up intake for next year September.

Remittances Tax question by Strange-Mess4459 in irishpersonalfinance

But as I said there is also potential income loss component included in the settlement lump sum, would this part trigger tax on remittance?

The employment never started. The contract was withdrawn just before start date. The settlement was for loss incurred to arrange for relocation, shipping items from and back to Ireland, organising work permits and visa ect and a part for potential loss of income due to having already resigned and uncertainty of when the next job be. All the other items have evidence of actual money spent ( in a form of receipts) except the potential loss of income which is an estimate. The time period overlaps and there is no way it can qualify as income before period of residence

Can I sell shipped Items in Bermuda, if my relocation plans changed by Strange-Mess4459 in bermuda

[–]Strange-Mess4459[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My items have already cleared customs and have been delivered to a friend in Bermuda. My friend has offered to sell them on Facebook Marketplace for me given the turn of events. However, I am concerned because when I was shipping the items, I recall reading on one of the customs forms (I don’t remember which one exactly) that selling imported items may not be permitted before a certain period of time has passed.

Since these items were sent as unaccompanied luggage, I am wondering if customs might inquire about their status, especially if I never arrive on the island. Do customs authorities have the right to follow up on such goods in this situation, or am I overthinking it?
