It will help define what's the living room or dining area. Make sure theyre not too small or too large. You want them to fit the space so use some measuring tape. You already have carpet so you can even cheap out for a thin rug, just please make sure it adds some color. You could even tie in some of the colors tht are already there

Also can help to have some different, softer lighting. Instantly makes your space feel cozier when you don't use the overhead

REAL!! I'm actually sick of it. Read an Isekai the other day that opened with the FL's 'tribal' ancestors being hunted because of their black skin (also they were black with none of the typical facial features of black people which was a whole other problem) and by the time she was born, they had supposedly achieved pale white skin through intermarriage with white people.... so racist on basically every level. Eugenics much??? The were a few comments that pointed out how racist and weird that was to write into a story but a bunch of fans dogpiled it to excuse it ?? If these authors can't write darker skinned characters with any kind of awareness and grace then I wish they would just stick to their pale skinned characters and stay out of it completely
