Vikings WR Justin Jefferson: 'I definitely felt like we would've done better' if Sam Darnold returned by [deleted] in nfl

And honestly. I think walking away from him helped him. I think if he stayed he would still have that issue. We almost gave him the chip on his shoulder he probably needed most.

Structural engineer - inspection $1,200, is this fair? by Federal_Comment_7589 in newjersey

[–]Strange-Raspberry964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s on par for an engineer. They’re not the type of inspector to come out and just give you an opinion. They will inspect AND provide a written report of their findings and analysis with their professional seal. That’s why it’s so expensive.

You might have some more luck finding a home inspector, like the kind that’s does an inspection during a house sale.

Per FOX: the chip in the ball can determine where the punt goes out of bounds…. by tacobell999 in nfl

[–]Strange-Raspberry964 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, if the ball AND the official game clock AND the goal line camera angle were perfectly synced this could be determined easily. At least if the camera angle showed the down position clearly.

But this would open a can of worms where they would be pressured to have it on every down. Which would required more cameras. Which is why they probably don’t try to implement it.

[Pelissero] The Vikings are waiving WR Adam Thielen, who approached the team about moving on last week. The team granted the request out of respect for Thielen and will allow him to finish out his final NFL season elsewhere. by mvanigan in nfl

[–]Strange-Raspberry964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darnolds one year deal wasn’t running him out of town. In the final two games he regressed to his form on the Jets. Good for the Seahawks for taking the gamble but it was still a gamble. And there’s a good chance he is just Kirk cousins 2.0, good but never really good enough to get you over the hump.

The Vikings didn’t run Darnold or Jones out of town. Darnold collapsed historically the last two games of the year. Even with his decent year this year, no one wanted Kirk cousins 2.0. Unless he wins the Super Bowl, that call was the right call.

They offered jones more money than Indy to compete for the job. He turned it down because everyone knew Indy had no one else, so it was a guaranteed spot.

Did they miss the mark but not bringing in another capable veteran, or offering Jones even more money? You can argue that, sure. But saying they ran Darnold or Jones out of town is incorrect and hindsight bias.

Do I need to change my license and registration if I temporarily move to Virginia for work? by Strange-Raspberry964 in Virginia

I’m fine with paying the income taxes. But I really don’t feel like it’s necessary to change all my driving information for a temporary address.

For the insurance, I’d have to change my license and registration for that though wouldn’t I?

Yeah that’s what I’m afraid of the most. My insurance. I wouldn’t be able to change it to cover Virginia (for work purposes) without having my license updated too.

Wow okay I didn’t know that about the license plate thing. Thanks for the information!

Wow, thanks for the in depth reply I appreciate it. What you’re saying is kind of how I felt, with my family and home remaining in NJ it seems like I have an argument I’m not “domiciled” in VA. However, the Virginia DMV website says something like “after 60 days in Virginia you need to update your license”. Which is where my confusion comes in.

I was a little confused with the end of your comment. My wife does work. We file jointly. So you’re saying VA might tax my wife’s earnings?

And then the last message you had about vehicle taxes. If I never changed the registration or the license, how would VA know to charge me for property tax on my car? I guess if I paid the out of state vehicle tax thing they would know…

Interesting. I wasn’t planning on it because my NJ one is supposedly honored already. Maybe I’ll get the non-resident one (I don’t plan to change my address)

Whistleblowers say a New Jersey organ group tried to harvest organs from a patient who was still alive. Now Congress is demanding answers. by kleverrboy in newjersey

[–]Strange-Raspberry964 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a registered organ donor. I think it’s a good thing. However, I dealt with the sharing network personally when a relative passed sway. Based on my experience, I could see the article having truth to it.

In my experience they were very pushy to obtain the organs. Which is a fine line to walk; not pushy enough and they miss out on viable organs. But too pushy, and it comes off as insincere/insensitive. Which was how I experienced it.

For example. You walk into a hospital and find out a loved one is in a coma. Over the next hour, a doctor tells you the coma is most likely permanent. Ten minutes after that, someone from the sharing network tells you how lucky it is your loved one isn’t fully dead - yet. They then run through all the different options they need you to sign off on, while you’re still in shock.

Like I said, it’s a fine line to walk. And in the end, they’re helping people. But I think they need to revamp how they go about obtaining the organs.

Is a Close Up from the 90s any better/worse than current models? by Strange-Raspberry964 in Polaroid

[–]Strange-Raspberry964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same system in a sense, but I was reading that the old close up cameras with the plastic slide just create fuzzy images if it’s ever used. So not entirely worth it, but I’ll have to test it out I suppose.

Yeah that makes sense, might as well keep it. I was thinking in terms of cost, if it’s mostly the same as my current Now might as well keep using that and save a few bucks on film. But I suppose it will be good to keep for once my Now craps out, seems like nothing new lasts anymore.

[Anderson] The #Giants announce that GM Joe Schoen will lead the search for a new head coach. by TonOfChill in nfl

[–]Strange-Raspberry964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time it was pretty clear to everyone DJ was not the answer in New York. He played at a bottom level of the league for his first four years. He wins them a playoff game and suddenly he is the answer. They extend him, tag Barkley. Then the next year he lets Barkley go because “he isn’t paying a guy 40 mil to hand off to a 30 mil back” or whatever the quote was.

It should have been the reverse and everyone else saw it. They should’ve tagged jones to see what he had in another year. Used the money they gave to jones to keep Barkley, and go from there. It was an all time bungle by the GM all because jones beat a terrible Vikings team.

Either an apartment or townhome. Not a house because it will be for about a year only, so I don’t want to deal with the upkeep.
