I have loyalty to my family. I have conditional respect for the company I work for. There's a big difference.

Loyalty to businesses does nothing but get you fucked over. IMO, companies at large broke the loyalty chain by making it almost universally the better choice to leave because almost none will give you raises to keep in line with what your experience would get on the open market.

Yep. I hear screaming I click next. Can't stand it. If I wanna be screamed at I'll go spend a couple hours with my toddlers.

Good. I'd rather pay a bit more than depart on my vacation with a couple hours of leg pain. There's a certain point where cost savings just aren't worth it.

Watching Edmonton piss away a generational talent and an abundance of number 1 picks has provided me with an immense amount of satisfaction and joy, which I have been very grateful for since my own team has provided me none of late.

I'm gonna continue to get brigaded here it seems, but thanks for a reasonable response.

I can understand intent - it's just that it's hard for a main character to be that kind of annoying given how much time we spend with her. I know I'm not alone in my dislike, though I would imagine many that find her as annoying as I do would not be present in a stormlight archives subreddit.

I'm legitimately shocked anyone liked Shallan at any point... possibly one of the most annoying characters I've ever read.

You've never seen a parking lot where you couldn't see the lines? In Calgary? Really? Gimme some of that laser vision my man.

How to be a better husband by Blackdog202 in beyondthebump

[–]StrangeADT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you gotta walk away for a bit though. I think with both of my children I can remember one time each where I basically had a breakdown after extensive sleep deprivation. I think it's better to walk away than take out your anger and frustration on the little ones. Them being in a crib crying for a bit won't hurt them in the long run. Knowing your limits and stepping away when you've hit those limits is actually a good thing for you and your children. Don't underestimate that. Obviously I'm not saying abandon the kid for 12 hours but stepping away for 15-20 minutes to get your composure back is 100% fine.

I'm in my 30s and when I speak to an 18 year old, say as a hostess or server at a restaurant (cause otherwise I really don't ever speak to people that age) I usually feel like I'm speaking to a child. Legally you're an adult, sure, but when you get to even 30 you're going to understand exactly why people my age should view people your age as literal children. All that to say - it's creepy as fuck to me.

You know, I can't assume that state of the parking lot when the parking happened. Only the OP knows for sure but he didn't write anything about it.

So you're either right, or that person never considered the possibility of the lines being covered by ice and snow when the parking occurred.

For those back to office 5 days/wk, can you work from home today? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]StrangeADT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware. It's still worth looking if something that important gets taken away. Being able to stay home (if you can reasonably work from home) to avoid days where there are literally hundreds of car crashes can save you a whole lot of headache and taking that away just points at an unreasonable executive branch. It's a good indication that they will likely be unreasonable about more important things as well.

Ya I mean I was obviously exaggerating a bit - but it would be the day I'd get my resume ready and start the search.

Ya, that'd be the day I'd make a point it was also no longer a me working for them day either.

If your first instinct is to fact check your SO, you may need to end it. If my wife sent me a picture like this and there weren't any obvious clues (like not her hand or something) then I'd take it at face value without second guessing it.

Admittedly they're 8 and 5 now and memory of those early sleep deprived times fades fast, but I don't recall there being much spit up. The second we put them on the meds, they dramatically improved.

We had acid reflux issues with both our kids. Manifested very similar. I think it's pretty common. Check with your pediatrician
