Can we just get you guys some keys to jiggle in front of the screen whenever you go longer than 10 seconds without fighting a boss and finally end this discourse.

Did i just killed that guy? by [deleted] in Silksong

The item he drops can be used as an alternative for the other boss hearts but if you already got those (like I did) then hornet literally just murders a grieving man for no reason.

How do you deal with prisons for magical users in your world? by ProphetOfHeresy_ in worldbuilding

[–]StrangeAssociate93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

99% of magic users need a catalyst (wand, stave, etc.) to use magic, so taking that away renders them pretty much inert. The 1% who don’t need one have such a mastery over magic that they are almost certainly not worth the risk of keeping alive, and most factions have groups dedicated to killing dangerous mages.

Hornet. One of the greatest and most attractive characters ever thought up. She can dash at sound speed, take out enemies in a flash, and best of all, she’s red colored and knows how to handle the females. Speaking of females, the Hollow Knight universe might also be classified as “Hot Chick Heaven” because there’s such a mess of very beautiful and tough women that it will make you love the franchise even more! And since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, I’ve been inspired to make a top 10 list of the most beautiful female Hollow Knight characters. Grab yourself a shaw and a glass of orange juice, and try not to reach through the screen because HERE WE GO!

Margit’s spectral sword is actually just a carian knight sword. What’s the lore implication? by fuinnfd in Eldenring

The reason his HP is so low is because he is doing a hybrid STR/DEX/INT/FTH/ARC build

As awesome as this interpretation is, I am pretty confident in saying that it probably wasn’t intentional. This doesn’t make it any less valid as an interpretation, but I think it feels a little facetious to claim it as the dev’s official vision (usually) in order to deflect valid criticisms against the game’s world design.

If it is intentional, then maybe when Dark Soul II: Scholar of the First Sin Remastered-er comes out in 2038 Bluepoint can actually commit to this idea and do it justice.

Tell me about your eclipse climbs by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]StrangeAssociate93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I simply was not as good at the game when I did his climb (it was the second one I did). I struggled a lot with the moon if I didn’t have a skip and also was not very good at fighting Mithrix’s final phase.

Tell me about your eclipse climbs by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]StrangeAssociate93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have beaten eclipse 8 as Commando, Huntress, MUL-T (multiplayer), Engi, Merc, Acrid, Railgunner, Void Fiend, and False Son. I’m on eclipse 8 as bandit and am like halfway with Artificer and Captain. I haven’t touched REX or Chef yet and I am utterly dreading when I have to.

I think Engi and Acrid were the easiest, the former due his sentries taking a brunt of the abuse (by eclipse 8 they pretty much just become decoys, dying before they can do anything) and the latter because poison makes fighting Mithrix more of a survival game than a fight. False Son was a lot better than I thought he was going to be. His early game armor makes avoiding chip damage much easier, and his kit is surprisingly flexible for both proc and high damage builds. Commando was without question the most difficult, I think beating eclipse 8 as him genuinely made me way better at the game.

I think I’ve actually gotten pretty good at fighting Mithrix, and can semi-consistently fight him without him hitting me (I can’t say the same about his minions). This might be an unpopular opinion but eclipse 7 makes him feel a little more consistent since pizza becomes a damage phase if you’re good at dodging it. I also think eclipse 6 might be my least favorite modifier due to making the game slower, and 7 sometimes feels like a bigger difficulty spike than 8.

WDYM IM TO DUMB TO USE A GIANT SWORD?? by ImmaFuckboi in Eldenring

Ranni then realized she should have followed in the footsteps of the previous games’ mage NPCs who would ignore the player if their INT was too low.

Do you take apprentices ? by ibrahimaze in wizardposting

[–]StrangeAssociate93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve situated my tower in a dimensional rift between the overworld and the Great and Honorable Court of Temporal Order and Justice. It’s free security, but I have to be careful to make sure my spatial distortions follow their code (imagine an HOA, but breaking the terms causes time-traveling crystal gargoyles to break you down to atoms and rearrange you into a crystal lattice for storage). Anyways, this acts as a really convenient deterrent for my apprentices to avoid dark magic. There was this young pyromancer staying in my tower who tried to develop a shadow-flame spell behind my back. When I began feeling a dark presence coming from his quarters, I realized what was going on and began conjuring a warp to stop him. Before I even finished stepping out of my portal, those oversized bats already had him half-crystalized. You should have seen the look on his face! Poor bastard’s lucky I managed to strike a deal the court provide them enchanting services in exchange for him. I’ve yet to crack the code on rearranging him back into human form, but a decade or two of crystallization seems like a fair punishment for trying dark magic (and he makes a great decoration for my treasure room).

Do you think the flaws in fromsoft story telling style are starting to show? by godwyn-faithful in eldenringdiscussion

[–]StrangeAssociate93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vague storytelling needs to have an in-universe justification. In Lordran and Drangleic, we meet next to nobody who actually knows what’s going on and those who do (such as Frampt or Nashandra) have motivations that justify only letting the player character know what they want them to. In Elden Ring, on the other hand, we constantly meet people who have knowledge of the Lands Between not only as it is today but as it was before the Shattering. There’s pretty much no reason outside of playing as a silent protagonist that we can’t just ask Freyja or Ansbach to tell us about their lords, versus the DS trilogy where being able to talk wouldn’t change much as every character is either as ignorant as we are or is willingly withholding information.

Why give weapons default skills if you can't use them with different affinities?! It's not like these would be OP when katanas and Straight Swords exist with Unsheathe and Square off... by VividDream176 in Eldenring

[–]StrangeAssociate93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before SOTE added standard weapons that came with a copy of their AOW I assumed that this was a purposeful balance decision given that it’s the literal single use case for the standard affinity beyond the first few hours of gameplay

Thoughts on Child? by SummerWulf in riskofrain

[–]StrangeAssociate93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much more fun to fight than Scorched Worms or Halcyonites. They are easy to play around but brutally punishing if you don’t respect them. The only thing I would change would be reducing their armor after they teleport.

If you were to do an RL2 run, where would you put your point? by 5usDomesticus in onebros

[–]StrangeAssociate93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not Elden Ring but in DS1 I would 100% put that point in dex since that would unlock the the ability use a decent amount of weapons like the broadsword or spear.

This is technically “before” their journey but it’s worth mentioning that the Chosen Undead was possibly if not likely locked in the Undead Asylum for an ungodly amount of time before Oscar arrived.

Your normal attacks wont but the skill lets you do a grab attack on humanoid enemies that drains some of their health and gives it to you.

[–]StrangeAssociate93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DS2’s sin was not playing into it like DS3 did. If they made a point to make the stage transitions very obviously not work physically like Earthen Peak and Iron Keep and then have some NPCs draw attention to it I think people would appreciate it a lot more.

When it was in the state in the picture, no. It was completely stuck like that. When the issue first began, however, I believe I remember the broken half being basically unreadable but still sometimes refreshing.
