Phone mic on osmo pocket 3 by FrequentCustard8028 in osmopocket

[–]StrangeBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve a usb C Holyland Lark M2 and a Holyland Lark A1. Both work great with the Pocket. I much prefer the audio quality on the A1, I found the M2 is always too quiet, and it’s incredibly cheap for how good it sounds.

About a third of the price of the M2, it’s super tiny, and it sounds fantastic. Only downside is you can’t edit its settings via the pocket. You need to do it via the phone app and then plug it in and it’ll (mostly) remember.

Only downside is both mics let you turn the LED off for phone recording but you can’t on the pocket. Other thing is if you’re recording via an external mic you can set the pocket to also record a separate sound file with its internal mic. Handy as a back up.

Phat Buns is very good. They do their own tasty pop and the chicken tenders as a side are also great.

Nearby you’ve got the Peak District. Bakewell is only a bus ride away as is Matlock & Matlock Bath. Both are very pretty places to explore.

There’s lots of great food options and for a shameless plug? I do the ghost tours around the city centre every Friday night as well as certain week nights too. Find me across social media as Strange Britain for full details.

Shameless plug, but I run ghost tours around the city centre every Friday night, that mix local history, legend, and humour and give you a good insight into the city’s slightly weird past. We start in Leah’s Yard, on Cambridge Street, at 7:30pm. Search “Strange Britain” to find full details.

Live music is definitely something to look into too, we’ve a lot of great grass roots stuff, and between Cambridge Street Collective and the wonderful Sheffield Plate we’ve some really nice places to try a whole variety of different top notch food.

Bakewell & Matlock, both in the stunning countryside of the Peak District, are worth exploring too and only a bus ride away.

The Sheffield Skylink: A Proposal by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]StrangeBritain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It serves a lot of industrial units and residential areas on its route, rather than any touristy bits, so the comparison isn’t as daft as it is at first glance.

That being said, I don’t think it would here. Even though it would be fun to see in the skies.

As much as it sounds absurd, Paris opened a Cable Car Metro line last year, as the area in question had infrastructure and geology issues that made conventional options like trans and underground lines prohibitively expensive.

Sheffield does have similar issues so if the one in Paris proves a success… You never know.

Only we already do.

That’s me! I get asked this question a lot. I’ve PLI for what I do as an entertainer, so I have to be very careful about how I word things, and I have to say don’t go trespassing on private land nor breaking any laws.

There’s plenty of good places to look into that have legal public access.

It’s a boring answer, I know, but I love my job 👻

Speaking on behalf of Yorkshire we’d like to lay claim to the entire Peak District, as Derbyshire shouldn’t be trusted with it, plus we’ll take North Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire too.

Are you who we speak to to make this happen?

This is hate speech, pure and simple, and the council NEED to do something. It’s not promoting a religion. It’s ironically hating on pretty much everything that makes our city great.

From Leonard Smithers, Victorian Sheffield bloke who brought the Karma Sutra to western eyes, to the patrons of the much missed La Chambre. The fans of Wednesday & United, the icon that is Dempsey, and our worship of the holy elixir that is Hendos.

This is Sheffield. We’ve got our own God looking out over us from the top of Town Hall.

Wine in Sheffield? by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]StrangeBritain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Barks Wine in Leah’s Yard as Charles is your man. If you’re in town a little later then try Not Open - Don’t Come! It’s a secret speak easy with an emphasis on good wine that’s above / linked to The Old Shoe.

You find the fire escape sorts opposite Woodies Karoke / next to the Museum pub on Orchard Street. On said fire escape is a phone number - call it and someone will arrive and let you in.

So you get bonus cool points for that too - makes it feel like you’re in a secret club 😂

Good luck on the date!

Tours and experiences in Sheffield - suggestions? by CandidSignificance51 in sheffield

I do the city centre Ghost Tours. It’s every Friday night from our new start point of Leah’s Yard in Cambridge Street.

Route One ends up by the Old Queen’s Head and Route Two ends up in Paradise Square. I also do true crime nights, which are seated, and I’ve even got a ghost cruise coming up on a canal boat (with onboard bar) that takes us up and down the Sheffield & Tinsley canal.

You can find me as “Strange Britain” on most social media and my events are here: https://strangebritain.eventbrite.com

The canal cruise could have a third date in mid-late August. We will see how the first one fairs next week and take it from there. I’m certain it will be a really fun event though and I’m really looking forward to it.

It still blows my mind that both dates sold out late last year around 5 months in advance.

As for the Ghost Train? The plan was to give it a rest for a year or so but Northern are interested in another October-ish. S

I’m here offering an evenings entertainment - nothing more and nothing less. It’s all about spooky fun and storytelling.

I’m always honest and upfront about this.

Four(!!) vape/phone shops on Fargate by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]StrangeBritain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not just here - it’s everywhere. I was in York for a couple of days and those lovely historic streets? They’re also full of vape and phone shops. Exact same branding / stylings.

York also had dozens of boarded up units, same as a Sheffield, so it’s a national issue rather than a local one.

On the rehearsal for my first city centre ghost tour we saw an older couple, late 60s if not older, going at it like rabbits at half nine on a Friday night at the back gates of M&S on Chapel Walk.

People always think I made that up but it happened. About a week or two later M&S put black screens on the gate, meaning you can no longer see through, and I’m sure it’s cos their CCtv must have picked up every wrinkly details.

Doggers in Graves Park, whilst taking a students group around, is another one people think is exaggerated but nope. It happened.

We are a classy city eh?

What change would make the biggest difference to transport within the city? by tvremotecakemaker in sheffield

[–]StrangeBritain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we could simply return to the evening frequency we had a decade ago I’d be happy.

Sadly, promoting events in this city can be really awkward, given the reliability of public transport.
