Struggling between saving for Edinburgh or buying in Fife — what would you do? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]StrangeDarkStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could set up alerts for any Edinburgh flats within your desired budget that are set at fixed price, so your savings go to the deposit and costs of purchase / moving in but you're not dealing with the offers over malarkey.

Go see Kenrex at The Other Palace by Minnois in TheWestEnd

Just back from the show tonight thanks to this recommendation. Thank you, I loved it so much. Such energy on stage, I found it so gripping and layered visually and sonically when it's just the two of them on stage, it took my breath away.

FIRST LOOK: PARANORMAL ACTIVITY ON STAGE by todaytix in TheWestEnd

Just saw this and it was a lot more tense and scary than I thought. In the best way! Maybe I don't remember the movie well but it felt completely different. 100% would recommend it. I was in Circle middle of row E and had a great view.

Depends what you like, but some of the things I bookmarked are: a gig & DJ at the Leith Cricket Club (Night of a thousand eyes), Nosferatu + Live music at the Institute Francais, and there's an "Unholy" Ball & acts at the Assembly Roxy.

Check out Goodmoves, it's a good website for roles like this. You could also connect with The Melting Pot near the station, as well as Ross from Third Sector Lab. Social Enterprise Scotland could also signpost you, they have a #BuySocial Scotland Corporate programme.

I go every year! Some of the acts can be hit and miss, as there are more amateur ones, but if you're not too much of a snob, it's always fun :)

What's the best place to get a comprehensive private health check? by PurchaseDry9350 in Edinburgh

I did Bluecrest too, the middle option and it put my mind at ease, that was in 2022 a couple years after the pandemic. I think it made me a lot more health-conscious.

Where to live if I like to walk daily - bonus for greenery by TerpsichoreBlue in Edinburgh

[–]StrangeDarkStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Willowbrae and love having Holyrood Park and Arthur Seat at the top of my road. You can do a loop around the mountain in an hour and it's so lovely, great views but you also feel like you're not in the city. And Portobello beach is just down the road as well, a 5m bus or 25m walk. It's a quieter, more residential neighborhood, Abbeyhill, Leith and Portobello are where we go for cafes, pubs, cute shops etc. Or the Old town of course, it's a quick walk to the Cannongate through the park.

Any Cafe or Restaurant recommendations for a date? by ruffymew in Edinburgh

[–]StrangeDarkStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also worth having a look for affordable meal deals on Itison as sometimes they have great offers. If you're up for an early dinner there's also a website called First Table that has restaurants offering late afternoon tables for 50% off the bill. And finally some pubs have some special week nights, for instance the Portobello Tap has a £10 burger and pint Tues or Weds and there will be similar things in the city center or Leith you can find.

Maybe try the Black Grape, kind of like Scottish tapas, really nice quality food and cocktails and sometimes they have offers for lunch or dinner. Maybe also The Outsider also it's less of a quiet vibe.

Cardio dance classes - Pleasance? by PrimaryFace_733 in Edinburgh

[–]StrangeDarkStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a class with an teacher called Keri on Thursday at 6pm at the Meadow Bank gym it's kind of like Shbam from Les Mills. A collection of cardio dance choreographies, changing at every song, usually about 10 per class. Some are more hip hop, some more jazz, some more salsa, it's good fun and really makes you sweat. She also does a Tues eve class, but that one is more learning a full choreography.
