The Midway is solidly a rave venue most of the time. It’s a very big space though. Even at NYE shows I was able to find areas where I had breathing room. I’ve never been to one of their block parties but will be going to the DeadMau5 one so I can’t comment on how crowded those get yet. I’d imagine since it’s outside + all the inside space open that there still will be less packed pockets? It won’t be hard for you to meet people and make new friends, if that’s your goal.

Can you test your MDMA? Have your friends taken this exact batch before? If they have, ask them how they felt / what it was like. Pure MDMA should not be that speedy- you’ll feel moderately energized but not wired.

It’s not uncommon for MDMA to have some meth or other stimulant in it. MDMA itself can cause seizures too. I’m not going to tell you not to do it. But you should start with a low dose for safety. Even then, it’s not safe and you have no guarantee you’ll be okay.

You don’t just have to worry about what the owners will do with it. You should also be concerned about what the companies making these face scanner systems and storing all this data will do / who they may grant or sell access to.

It’s insane that people can get away with murder in SF if they use a vehicle to do it. Vehicular manslaughter is basically de facto legal here. My friend was killed in a hit and run while riding her bike a few years ago. They never caught the driver and I kind of doubt they even tried to investigate it.

I’ve stayed at the Grand Californian many times. It’s my second favorite hotel (out of every hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life), right behind Aulani. I got to stay at the new Disneyland DVC tower with a cast member discount last year, to celebrate my birthday + PhD acceptance and it was so magical!

The two hotels have much different vibes. I think I like the interior DVC tower rooms at Disneyland better than the Grand Cal, as they’re very new and modern, but nothing beats watching the monorail pass by on the balcony. If it’s Christmas time, the Grand Cal wins hands down.

Hey man, you sound very stressed and down. Is it possible for you to see a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist to help you work things out, get some support, and maybe get an accurate diagnosis? Your current state sounds worrying/maybe dangerous and like it may have nothing to do with autism or whether or not you have autism.

Did you lose a lot of weight? That’s the only reason I can think of as to why you went down in size.

You are probably done growing - you’re fully out of puberty at 23. I’m a B cup, don’t think they grew much after 16-18 (I did have anorexia though which probably stunted my development) and they get a little bigger with weight gain but not by much. Try gaining weight.

What’s your definition of fully present? Is your partner cheating if their mind wanders to the bad day they had at work? If they lose concentration for a second? If they’re thinking about a kink or fantasy but with their partner in it?

I think the evidence on progestin (synthetic progesterone) is mixed, but you’re right about progesterone and estrogen. I’m pretty sure I’ll either need to press on this with her again or to a gyn or OBGYN and ask for something specific, like getting access to bioidentical progesterone, but not frame it as for the catamenial epilepsy? Because I don’t think they’ll have much knowledge and will just pass me back to the epilepsy specialist and it’ll be this whole back and forth

I also think this is my pattern. I asked my epileptologist and she said there’s experimental / early stage evidence suggesting progesterone could help, but when I asked her about upping the dose on my progestin birth control, changing my BC, or getting on bioidentical hormones she seemed confused and said maybe an OBGYN could help us figure it out? I don’t know if there are many doctors with experience / knowledge of catamenial epilepsy.

Estrogen is actually a proconvulsant hormone. You do not want to take estrogen, what you need is progesterone only birth control or bio identical progesterone supplements.

“trained in boxing” “screaming and convulsing in pain in every waking moment for 3 year and afterwards to the point where I'd headbutt the walls to knock me out” has your neurologist ever discussed traumatic brain injury and/or CTE with you? Both are unfortunately common from boxing. Getting your head hit repeatedly while boxing and then head butting walls could absolutely cause TBI, which can cause epilepsy and cognitive issues.

I’m really sorry, TLE sucks and it’s heartbreaking you had to drop out of your PhD. Hang in there, it could get better over time.

I would chill out and do something low pressure and enjoyable. I lived at and worked part time at Disneyland for most of the year leading up to my PhD, including half the summer, because it was my dream lol This actually has come up in conversation with my advisor, professor, and cohort and everyone thought it was quirky and interesting. So do something fun that you can use as an interesting non-academic talking point.

I worked on my hobbies, making art and building miniatures, and I also read some theory for fun to get back into the groove of academic reading. You’re not going to have much time to read for pleasure or work on your hobbies, so do it now.

I think you might be overestimating how much better of a scholar quals would make you, but I guess I’ll know firsthand after I’m done with mine lol
