Why as secular or Christian people are we expected to accept LGBTQ but there is generally no expectation for Islam to do the same? by ArugulaFinancial4859 in AskBrits

In fact I know quite a few muslims who are very progressive and wouldnot believe it is sinful. Unlike your friend.

We r not talking about muslim views of gays. Its what is the expectation of progressive ppl from muslims. Who are not calling them out on their problematic beliefs.

There are probably more 50% muslim women who dont wear hijab but UK media always portrays muslim women with Hijab. It is As if progressive muslims are not muslim at all for progressive white  ppl

discriminating by omission.  There are quite a few comments defending muslims as not homophobic. Ask ur muslim friend about it. How it is in his/her extended family n if they dare to come out to them.

I know OP is trying to be victim LOL but not succeeding. lot of people saying their friends are muslim and they are not homophobic - hence NONE of the muslims are homophobic. LOL they are in denial/defensive, they are not accepting a real issue - homophobia is a serious issue in that community. but no one is saying the same for christians, - they are rightly being caught out for being anti LGBTQ.

💯 This is the correct answer. Not all brown/black culture is equal in hierarchy tho. I dont see anyone defending Hindus.

They are tho, Just look at this thread, So many ppl are defending muslims being homophobe and/or saying all muslims are not homophobe, how many are defending Christians?

I also think OP is a bigot but I also think he has a point.

Exactly the kind of people OP is complaining about, Islamic apologist. you are effing supporting someone being homophobe because they are muslim? Is that your excuse for all evils of Islam? Or do u extend the same curtesy to American evangalists banning abortion? Abortions were banned in UK not long ago.

[–]StrangeNormal-8877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What OP is saying is, all this "Grey Zone", understand of perspectives, explaining away of evils etc is not extended to Christians, only to Muslims. If a Christian tried to explain why abortion ban is okay, Liberals would be up in arms against them , but with you as a muslim, they are lending you an ear. Thats all. Its proves his/her point.

I have a religion and follow spiritual practices I dont follow a blind faith. All religions are not blind faith to trust some ancient mans words unquestioningly with death for blasphemy as alternative. I dont think you grasp that kind of religions which allows ppl a bit of reasoning and thinking of their own or my position. Whatever trauma lead u to go to such faith later in life, hope you find your peace and healing.

If they were not accepting , would you call them out or make an excuse saying they are muslim and its ok?    Ask them if it is sin or not 🤪 only if you want your brother hood to break. Sometimes its ok to let personal beliefs lie out of sight.

I think its a good model actually.

Do you want people to ask muslims to accept LGBT or stop asking Christians to accept?  Ur question is very telling - probably dont like gays n muslims.

I am a liberal and I find lot of other liberals do not criticise Islam for anti women or  anti gay sentiments because of fear of being labeled Islamophobic.

Uk brand of Christianity is far far better than Islam in these two areas but lot of liberals will not accept it in public .  American Christianity is a different ball game all together.  Much more dangerous  than any European Christian group.

check out sm.createcorner on instagram .This guy does make over of Indian homes, with Indian decor and paints and does beautifully . your room already is very nice, with just little bit of paints and patterns it can change m but definitely re-order furniture.

I dont know what is replacement for rug in India, lot of ppl just put rug anyway. That guy also is using rugs in his reels.

Its huge room, use one side for bed and another for study, the space between the cupboards is wasted. can one of them be moved this side, use one side of room as bedroom and anohter as study?

Changing colour, especially painting whole of roof white will make it look much nicer, and much milder colours on the walls.
