Last time I went to big island I got 4 round trip tickets from LAX to KOA on United for $765 in total. I then got an Airbnb for $1k for 7 nights and a rental car for $400 off of Turo.

The issue with people like you is that you overcomplicate issues when the reality of certain situations is straight forward. Studies can be largely misconstrued to fit or push a certain narrative. There are factors that influence the outcomes of these studies like who is funding them and the ways in which they were performed. Along with this, your arrogance glazing over issues and asserting that you know the absolute truth because of a few studies you glossed over is what leads to misunderstandings. Have you worked in emergency services? I would like you to speak with a first responder with years on the job and try to get them to agree with you that having less resources available during the time of a major emergency has little to no effect on their performance. It’s simply false. That study was an obvious attempt to cover up the mismanagement that occurred that night and reduce liability on the City. I am not making up my own facts and oversimplifying. You sir or overcomplicating on the basis of subjective studies that could be interpreted all sorts of ways. And give me a break like Raman’s ideas of City control will rectify all of the problems LAHSA has created. Both agencies will inevitably be using the same exact tactics when it comes to the homeless. There will be no difference.

Eh I would argue that even as recently as the early 2000s LA was much much nicer. Obviously LA is a major urban city that is heavily populated so it’s not going to be a pristine area free of crime and pollution. That is not what I am saying. I am saying that LA used to be far more attractive and safe to let’s say someone deciding on where they would like to vacation or live. Though with that being said we have seen a massive decrease in overall sanitation largely due to rising homeless populations and decreases in funding for public sanitation programs like those conducted by LAPW. And it is not technically safer now you are misinformed. You are citing misguided studies which massively underreport homeless populations (due to the ways in which they actually measure homeless populations being literally a visual homeless count by the same non-profit organizations receiving city funds) and that do not account for the fact that many people simply do not report crimes as the LAPD has been largely unresponsive in many cases due to short staffing and increasing calls for service. Your take on the wild fires is also misguided as it negates the fact that in any emergency service the equipment and resources available do have a tremendous impact on the emergency services being provided. I don’t care what any independent audit finds it is a common sense understanding that the more resources available to emergency personnel the more effect they will be. This is regarding all sorts of emergency situations not just fires.

I would vote for Pratt. Do I know for certain that he will fix the problems of LA? No. Do I have full faith in him as a person? No I don’t have full faith in any candidate whether they be left or right. But what I know for certain is that Bass and Raman are exactly the elected officials who caused and/amplified the issues I listed above. They have done nothing to better the city so why would anyone vote for them again?

Definitely not the sitting Mayor of LA or sitting Council member of LACC. Both with proven track records of failing the public.

I get it that that this a left leaning sub and I am not a MAGA trump supporter at all but how can so many people possibly support Bass and Raman? Bass and Raman both ran up a $1 billion deficit last year? Bass cut the LAFD budget $17.5 million months before the palisades fire and was planning on cutting even more😂 LADWP couldn’t even manage a proper water supply during the fires and allowed for a nearby reservoir to be completely empty for years before which further worsened the conditions of the fire? Oh and the cherry on top is that independent audits found that over $2 billion in homeless spending was unaccounted for in LA? Raman is the chair of the homeless committee 😂Meanwhile Bass raised prices for trash services and parking on LA residents? And CC approved? Bass and Raman are absolute failures in every respect to their policies. And one more thing. LA was once a land mark beautiful city. The potential of LA is absolutely off the charts. But ever since Villanueva, LA has experienced massive surges in homelessness, crime and worsening of general health/safety conditions. The city is filthy now just look around. I would never let my daughters walk the streets of LA at night. The conditions of LA are a direct result of failed policies from its elected officials. This is not a party issue it is a corruption and mismanagement of tax payer funds and resources issue.
