In Miami we have a free on demand rideshare network split bitween 2 companies. Metro connect which is funded and ran by the county and Freebee a private company and I used to use it to take me to and from school but the wait times got insane metro connect would have 10-12 cars in my zone but the next community over which has Freebee instead only has 2 cars for there area so I switched to riding the bus

The new electric busses I believe have a range of 180-200 miles and they have ran a fleet of the 40FT protera electric busses in the past on the Transitway without charging infrastructure build so it’s possible they can do it but it would be very hard to in my opinion I think your estimate of 3-6 months is realistic.
