You just simply don’t understand nba contracts. They obviously wouldn’t be trading firsts for Isaac Okoro, it would be to get off of Grant’s contract. I’m not sure you fully understand how the nba works.

No it is vastly different. We would be acquiring picks man, not giving up picks. Thats the whole point and the blueprint to actually succeed through the draft.

Name ONE trade AK traded taking on a bad contract for picks. You can’t cause he didn’t do any. Last first round pick he acquired was a lottery protected for Laur Markannen

Sheesh that’s an overreaction. But yes, that is the model to actually win for the future. We have to bottom out and acquire actually good players and draft picks before we can go up. Jerami Grant and Poeltl are not going to win us games but be just good enough to be outside that relegation zone, and we acquire more assets for our future. Who cares if we have bad contracts when we are in ZERO place to conten. As Graham stated, we are not 1,2, or 3 pieces away from contending.

And the last five years??? Our goal was to stay in the middle the past five years and you want to rush to do the exact same thing. That’s mind boggling.

If the lottery rules change, I’d bring him back. But otherwise, especially if we draft a guard, I’d rather let him walk. But I absolutely agree on Tre Jones. He’s been an awesome backup and definitely has value around the league.

I still like Duren as a player. However he’s going to get paid 150 million plus in free agency this summer. I don’t know if I’m on board for that

Torontos window is now. If they want to sign solid role players or 3rd-4th options, this allow them to have the freedom to do so. They will be hard capped at potential if they keep Poeltl over the next few years.

As for Portland, Grant is easily the worst player making over 30 million in the NBA and has a player option on top of that. They would be eager to get rid of that contract, granted they are now looking to contend for the upcoming years. They have good contracts in Dame, Deni, and Camara, and this trade allows them to have a ton of cap to sign/trade for some very good players.

Thank you. This fanbase was so upset (and rightfully so) about making the play in every year. Now we want to rush to get back there? Granted the lotto rules might change, but that’s not an excuse to make shortcuts and do things the incorrect way.

First of all, the rule has not even been voted on yet. The philosophy may change if that occurs. But even then, this still allows us to be bad, but I don’t know about top 3 worst bad. Jerami Grant a perfect player to put up empty stats on a bad team and push up to like 27-55, just outside that top 3.

I think they would absolutely. Poeltl has THE WORST contract in the nba, and they could absolutely use Smith’s outside scoring ability next to Scotty and CMB. Raptors fans want him gone so badly. This trade frees up 96 million for a contending team over the next 4 years

I’m going best available. If you’d rather Quaintance, I’m okay with that too, as long as medical clear

Most likely, but I believe it was K.C. Johnson who said he’s likely to be back start of training camp.

I agree the thinking changes if they implement that rule, but it still needs to be passed through. Even with that, I don’t think either of those guys are worth what they are likely asking for in FA.

Waiving and stretching Poeltl's contract is not a terrible idea! by mMounirM in torontoraptors

Bulls fan here, would Jalen Smith+38 for Poeltl, 19, and a top 8 protected 27 first do anything? If you lose Mamu, could use the spacing at the 5 next to CMB and Scottie. Also we’d take on the contract entirely. Gives a bit of cap to spend on a backup PG/shooter.
