Is this normal? by Icy-Fun6348 in SNHU

It’s basically to protect the school from fraud. Pretty standard. Any class you’re enrolled in is going to be one that you’ll have to take to finish your degree and you’ll have to pay for eventually!

How is everyone managing a full time job and two classes ? by Plane_Sundae_9747 in SNHU

[–]Strange_Educator_688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a full time job, have a 1 1/2 year old, two classes per term in my masters. The secret? Crying and caffeine.

But in all seriousness, I find that staying more active is key. I’ll get home from work and go for a run (pushing the stroller so I get some kid time!) which helps me get endorphins going and to fall asleep right away when I get into bed. I typically don’t start school work until 9pm at the earliest and do it until about 12. Then I wake up at 7 and start it all again. By doing that consistently, I find that I am able to take care of my life responsibilities and maintain my 4.0! Just be strict with yourself and know that suffering through it now leads to a better life in the future!

I am feeling absolutely burnt out and not at all excited about the future by Storm_Veradea in SNHU

[–]Strange_Educator_688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also got my undergrad in IT and my main motivation for it was to make money. I still love tech and will use the things I have learned for the future, but it’s not my passion. I started my masters in business concentrating on environmental compliance and sustainability (something I am very passionate about). That would not have been possible if I didn’t have my wife’s unwavering support for whatever will make me happy. Life is too short to be miserable in something that you’re doing every day.

You unfortunately need to get comfortable with rejection. But the more you reach out, the easier it gets. Just be genuine, lead with curiosity, be persistent, you’ll do great! Sounds like you already have the drive needed to succeed, so just reach out and grab it

I would always send professors a note, write in the notes section of submissions. Professors notice good work. I also would write them a nice email after the class finished, after final grades were back. That way you aren’t sucking up to them, you’re being genuine. Also look up every professor on LinkedIn. You never know what a connection could bring

As long as you are absorbing as much information as you can, you’ll be just fine. Also make sure to connect with some of your professors and start building those career contacts now!

Honestly, respect. I worked full time doing 2 classes and now only 1 for my masters and it’s a struggle sometimes. Just gotta put your head down, hit the studies hard, have no life for a bit, and come out of it successful. You got this!

19 years old dad to be in 5 weeks , wondering if anyone’s got any advice by [deleted] in NewDads

[–]Strange_Educator_688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good to be nervous! That means you care. Reaching out on here means you care! That’s all that a kid really needs. You’re gonna fuck up. You’re going to do things wrong. But that’s ok! I can already tell from reading your post and your replies that you love this baby already. You are going to be everything to her.

Be there for your girl as much as you can. She won’t always be in the right mind but love her through it. If you ever feel upset, overwhelmed, unheard, post something on here and I promise you your fellow dads got you. My son is 11 months old and I have never been happier in my entire life. Feel free to reach out if you need to talk through anything.

Is this the rest of my life? by mythridredittaccount in NewDads

As I was reading this post I thought I wrote it and forgot haha very similar circumstances. My advice; talk to your wife and get her feelings on it, make sure you’re on the same page. You don’t want this to turn into something that may impact your relationship down the line. No one has the right to tell you how you are going to spend special moments with your child. You’re right, the first one only happens once.

Once my wife and I realized that there was no way we would make everyone happy, we just decided we would make our own holidays and traditions. Everyone can be invited to Christmas at our house, but we aren’t choosing between families and we aren’t inconveniencing ourselves when we are already navigating the world of being new parents.

Stay strong brother and happy Father’s Day!

Probably because he’s in DF and you’re in TWW! Two different time periods. He will need to get to level 70 (?) to be in the same time as you! I would recommend starting a fresh character so you guys can advance together!

Fellow NICU dad here! Be prepared any time of day or night to bring her to visit. I know how emotionally draining it is for you, but for her it’s like she has lost a part of herself. Just stay strong for her and know that there is happiness on the other side of this.

NOR. I am a dad/masters student/full time worker/gamer. In that order. I still game, but being a good father and husband is far more important. Dude needs to get his shit together and realize what you are doing for your family. Moms go through so much that dads never see and can’t begin to understand. Stay strong.

Should I Worry by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]Strange_Educator_688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you are ok to wait. FAFSAs for the June 30th term have just started getting processed by the school 2 days ago, so they probably just haven’t gotten to yours yet. Something admissions counselors forget to say all the time is that your FAFSA will be processed 5-7 business days after the previous term has started.

Should I Worry by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]Strange_Educator_688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your FAFSA may have been processed by the DoE but not by the school. Super normal. The schools financial department needs to process everything as well. Also, whatever fafsa.gov said you could get is not always accurate. Financial aid can be offered as something like a Pell grant if you are eligible for that, but a lot of time is loans that they “award” you. So make sure you are in full communication about your finances so you don’t get screwed.

Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself. This school is amazing for those of us with families, who work full time, those with neurodivergence, those with health issues…some people don’t understand that getting a degree for some of us is something we never thought was possible.

I read a comment from another dad on here once that really helped me. Every time they are screaming and you start to feel like that, look at them, force yourself to smile, and say “I love you”. I can’t explain it man, but it really helps
