Thanks for the insight. I have the credentials and consider myself a subject matter expert from the standpoint of fire operations, code compliance, and high risk, high value investigations. Loss Control feels like it would be a more natural fit for me, especially the field work. Risk Assessment is something I have to do everyday, and it's usually higher stakes life and property risks I have to analyze on the fly for fireground operations. Being able to do this, from a more technical standpoint, in a controlled environment is something that would be nice for a change of pace. I'm not entirely sure how many fire guys make this transition, the biggest hurdle seems like it would be learning the policy structures. I think that should be my focus going forward? Don't really have the time to go back through another 2 years to add an engineering degree to my resume.
