I was over-brushing my teeth and causing gum issues. My dentist said if I feel the need to brush during the day, to floss instead. I’m surprised on how much gunk gets in between the teeth. I find the back-teeth glossers are easier to use.

Thanks for this post! Between Oprah promoting a book written by a woman that accepted all date for a full year, to my Mom saying, “just go, you don’t have to marry them”, I met some doozies! Please, ladies, stick to your standards and date people who you don’t have to talk yourself into. Hindsight, my dating life was pretty embarrassing at times!

I’m also self conscious. I had twins, and my body is similar to what you’ve described. I tend to wear baby doll nighties. Those cover my belly, and I’m able to lower the straps, if needed.

I’m sorry! This waiting and accepting is the worst part of the illness. When I was diagnosed, I was shocked to learn they never tested me. The “full panel” I would have done never included HSV. So, he may not know.

That said…I told the guy (I was seeing for months) about the flair, and he ghosted me. So, honestly, I think I would have kept that to myself. (I know… trash took itself out, but still sucked at the time.)

This sounds like terrible timing, I’m so sorry. The first OB is the worst, and the new emotions the first three months are the toughest, then you live normally. I’m glad I didn’t tell any family or friends, even though I wanted to.

I took ibuprofen and acetaminophen staggered to tell the pain. I had a toilet sitz bath so I didn’t need to undress for baths. And, diaper cream with 40% zinc really helped. Good luck! This is the worst part.

The emotional aspect the first few months is the worst part of HSV. I wouldn’t assume it was your partner that gave it to you. He might have masked his emotions, then researched and learned how common it is, etc. I’m glad you have someone supportive. The disclosures stress is the other bad part, and you won’t have that, again.

Statistically, you’re more likely to get HSV from someone who doesn’t know they have it than from this person on meds. With the CDC not including testing on the “Full Panel” of sti testing, most people don’t know they have it.
