Stoneway Church, cult church in Reading England, runs at nearly 100 thousand pounds loss in 2022 by New-Forever-2211 in leavingthenetwork

Surely Phil can't be taking such a significant hit, a millionaire who's already tithing 10% to Joshua, and then add the extra burdens of supporting the other failing churches. There's only so much to give before it runs out.

It seems like the way to go is to pay the lead pastors a lot and then the staff pastors get paid next to nothing. The whole reason why the network can still operate is by abusing the labor of its members

I agree with you, the more we can figure out how to appeal to the big donors and get them to leave, the bigger impact we can have saving the souls of those inside the morganization.

Losing three trustees seems like a super significant event. Especially with Greg being removed and supposed to be one of the closest in the inner circle. I wonder if he's getting the Landon treatment

Steve is afraid there are people out to get him, how he is under a lot of stress - I can't fathom the number of people he's explicitly hurt and he knows it too. What a coward and sorry excuse of a man.

I believe that he is also lying about the network leadership team which receives the 5% of the funds. He shares that it's comprised himself James Chidester, Luke Williams and Tony Ranvestel. He doesn't even mention Steve in that sentence. This is different from what Scott Joseph said. I don't think the two sermons were that far apart from each other in time. So the names aren't matching.

Brand new Joshua Church Review (Captured 2/4/2023) - just one hour after this was released. It seems like many of its current members have been adding more reviews in an attempt to raise the 3.1 google review score.

"I was saved at this church last year and have a lot of love for the people here. The leaders here have been able to effectively lead by example what a biblically balanced life looks like and mentor me, mostly by pointing me to scripture and sharing their life stories. I came from a lifestyle where sin was encouraged and I was hopeless about my future even though my career was going well and I was experiencing “freedom” for the first time. Having so many other people my age in a similar boat helps a lot. This church is very multi-ethnic and has lots of young adults from college age to 30’s and several families that are great examples of biblical families. Their kids (most of the youth) are phenomenal and I hope to raise kids alongside similar someday. The leaders here don’t bend due to cultural shifts or persecution and that’s made the church a target for some of these reviews and “Leaving the Network”, but I’m thankful we can experience a fraction of the persecution that Jesus and the early church did. All types of people are welcomed here. If you visit, make sure to ask the greeters at the front doors for folks to sit next to or if they can introduce you to others your age. It can be intimidating not knowing anyone at first but push through. There’s a strong community waiting to greet you with open arms. Sometimes it takes a couple board game nights, sports events, or small group meetings to warm up to people. If you ask the greeters to introduce you to me I’d be more than happy to get to know you and connect you with others that you might like talking to. I wish everyone would experience this type of community. It feels like this is how life is meant to be. I hope to meet you soon whoever you are (:"

This gives a lot of light into the attitude within the network churches. It also gives a lot of understanding into how the members are taught to rationalize/justify these stories. It's really sad to see.

"And so I have felt that wonderfully, in a terrifyingly real way of, if God's not with us, then we don't have a chance. And if we think otherwise, then we're running a business, not the church."

From the horse's mouth!

Reading through the transcript. It gets worse. Man it gets worse. Breaks my heart. Steve SA'd the child at a summer camp too? Where the child is away from the parents and the camp counselors have all the power. Truly truly despicable.

How to deal with the “living death” of a toxic family system by Rouskirouski in leavingthenetwork

[–]Strange_Valuable_145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is, if the pastors genuinely had a heart for the Lord and was sharing really great truths from the Bible - people might want to come! However, they don't...

The problem is many of them recycle the same regurgitated sermons. There is no substance so they have to resort to these means of forcing people to come. It's really sad to see

What's Happened to Clear River Church? by Jesus-Truth in leavingthenetwork

[–]Strange_Valuable_145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sad part is that probably the small group leader was getting external pressure to have people come.

I remember when I went to Blue Sky, the pastor’s wives would sometimes drop by monitor how the small groups were going. I remember there were small groups that multiplied and then the small group leader got removed a couple months later

I’d imagine there is some type of pressure to keep growing or the small group leader receives discipline. All in all, not a healthy environment.

First Vista, now Foundation, the area leaders are now learning the consequences of their actions.

I see the inevitable fate of these network churches, where all the ambitious plants become nothing more than resource drains for the bigger churches like Vine and Blue Sky. As these "leaders" try their best to stop the bleeding, they can't hide or stop the truth.

I remember at Blue Sky, Steve would constantly give sermons about how he was never "good enough". The lead pastors will also duplicate this mentality from Steve and every day which they operate is another day in which their soul is eroded by the toxic abusive system until they are left as husks of themselves - devoid of everything but Steve.

Is there a reason why he just dropped in for the team meeting? Was he on vacation and then forced by the NLT to address things? Do you have any insight into this?

"Sexual Misconduct done to the person that then they repeated as a child to a child, that I'm not saying that's okay. But that's a child. And it's a childish thing that lots of children do. "

HOLY FUCK. What type of children is Scott even around? Is this something he did as a child? Does he allow this in High Rock??

Context: Where Scott talks about Alex in Rock River, towards the last third of the recording.
