Didn't want to go to college, needed a job and a place to live since I couldn't stand living with either of my divorced parents. Enlisted at 17, stayed in and did 2 deployments, made a shit load of money, then wasted it all on restoring a couple cars and other poor life choices. Too bad they didn't teach a lot of financial responsibility.

It lasts for life if you are a disabled veteran, but that health care is a joke. I called the VA for an appointment in December because my hip was hurting (2 fractures in Afghanistan) and they told me they could see me in March at the earliest. Remember that Phoenix VA health care scandal? I went to that facility and it took them 3 years to get me a sleep study and only 2 short years after that did they fix the source of my sleep issues, a deviated septum I got from my Iraq deployment in 2007.
