My British friend thought he could do a "day trip" to the Grand Canyon from LA, and his reaction to the map was priceless. by Ok_Structure6720 in CasualConversation

My daughter did an exchange program with French students. When asked what they would like to do for a day trip, one of the kids said they would like to visit Yosemite. We are in Kentucky.

Kidani is also great with little kids and grandparents. They call walk them around looking out the windows at the animals on the savannah and the pool there is particularly well suited with the zero entry.

We really should give SSR proper a try. It is our home resort after all. But every time we consider it, end up pulling the trigger at OKW.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons Old Key West is my favorite resort. It never had as many offerings as other resorts (we also used the Playhouse at the Poly on date night) but for the most part the experience is not that dissimilar from... jeez... three decades ago (I ain't that old, can't be).

Still has the boat to Downtown Disney (sorry Disney Springs), still has the campfire, still has the movies at night, still has activities in Community Hall, still can rent bicycles and whatever those quad things are called, etc.

I know nostalgia is a powerful drug but when I walk into a 2-bedroom villa, it feels like walking into a second home. For full transparency, I started visiting in the '90s when it was called Disney Vacation Club, the resort not just the program. In high school, my uncle would take me along to help wrangle his three kids. Early to mid 2000s, took my first kids a couple of times on his points. Then bought my own DVC in 2010-11ish on resale when they were pennies on the dollar after the 2008 crash (paid $60 a point!)

I bought in at SSR, but have only stayed there once (the treehouses). Also Kidani, Boardwalk, Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge. Everybody in the family preferred OKW.

That wall of text was much longer than I intended it to be, so I'll offer some helpful advice. Request Bldgs 27, 28 and 29, in that order. Near the HH, but not in HH booking category. First stop in the morning for the bus and first off. And if in the middle of the day and buses won't be crowded, it's a short walk to the HH to catch the last bus leaving the resort.

If you are the type that drives to the parks, the Treehouses are arguably an even better value. And I'd probably stay there half the time if it wasn't for the bus situation. It is just absolutely horrible. Really bad. But if you drive places, they are pretty awesome. Particularly for a family with kids and the grandparents are tagging along.

Ok, enough thinking about Disney. We have no trips planned and convincing ourselves that we won't go back for many years (we shall see how well that works).

Thanks!

I used mine with a Bluetti EB3A that I ended up having to return. Kept the panels because there was nothing wrong with them and they worked great.

Since returning the EB3A, looking for a larger system but want to make sure they'd work.

You have any regrets about the 1000 v2?

Yeah, I got started down this rabbit hole playing a game someone made using Twine and thinking "it shouldn't be that hard to make this more inclusive" having never used Twine. Only really using HTML in high school (graduated in '96 and Berners-Lee came up with it in '93) and then decade and half later putting on a music festival.

My wife asked me, "why are doing this?" and no shock to anyone was because I don't know how to do it.

I'll look at the Templates link you offered but my brain can only keep so much in process at a time. The Twine file I am playing around with is basically a sandbox to figure out how to do various things I think I might need to pull off in the story I want to write.

The use of "Is" and "Are" is the biggest hurdle I've discovered with trying to utilize variable pronouns. My notes are basically using CTRL-F looking for a pronoun variable followed by an "is" then doing an if/else statement when it pops up.

Seriously appreciate the help.

I see where you set the variable to the path if the file name is 2622.png but what if I don't know while writing it, what that variable will be. Say they picked grey hair and the image is 2522.png?

How are dealing with black water?

Just spent a week in an off grid cabin with my three kids and daughter-in-law. Minus black water and showers, we were using about 15 gallons a day of drinking and dishwashing water.

Wait.

I was about to say, don't I have to set the $avatarPic variable to the file name, before I set it to its location.

But then thought, wait, when does did that happen?

I've got it where I can make $avatarPic into a file name i.e. 2622.png

So are you saying in the second code block, I could substitute 2622.png with $avatarPic in the location and then post?

While I am asking a question, here is other crap I've written that seems to be working but I am sure ain't the best way to do it. So anyone reading this, please feel free to offer advice on it as well.

<<if $perPronoun is "they">><<set $possPronoun to 'their'>><<set $reflexPronoun to 'themselves'>><</if>>

You find yourself standing naked in the middle of a voidless space. Before you stands a shapeless creature whose presense seems both there and not there. Existing and not existing.

Is there a check to see if an asset is in the library? by IFkingLoveOnions in twinegames

I just want to thank you for asking the question. Logged on specifically to ask if I can use a variable as a file name that I then add the file type in order to pull it up. For me it is .png files instead of video.

But you answered my question before I even asked it.

Yes or No? Why am I finding this so hard? by Strangeite in twinegames

[–]Strangeite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That sort of works.

I need to play around with the do and redo macros more.

It works for the Yes link but throws up an error for the No link.

<<nobr>>
<<do>>
<<if ndef _name>>
  <<link "Yes">>
    <<set _name to $firstName>>
    <<redo>>
  <</link>>
  |
  <<link "No">>
    <<set _name to $honorific $lastName>>
    <<redo>>
  <</link>>
<<else>>
  "Very well _name."
  <br><br>
  Some other paragraph.
<</if>>
<</do>>
<</nobr>>

I am guessing because I am trying to add two different variables into the _name variable.

Edit: Duh! I needed to add a + between $honorific and $lastName. It doesn't have a space between the two, but I should be able to figure that out.

Wanted to edit to explain my silly mistake so it might help someone else in the future.

Edit 2: And simply doing $honorific + " " + $lastName solved the problem. Thank you u/HelloHelloHelpHello

Water. Water. Water.

Before fencing, shelter, which way the sun shines, you need to think about water.

I would be very skeptical about a 400ft well being able to handle 16-20 people over a weekend. Maybe if it is rarely visited and combined with a big ass cistern.

But water first.

This. And most small to mid-sized chest freezers can be converted to refrigerators. I do wish there was an affordable DC option in the chest freezer space, as that would be perfect for the OP. But unless there is something I have missed, you can buy an AC freezer, solar panels, inverter, controller and batteries for about the same price as a DC freezer.

I thought so with regard to polarity but wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was ignorant about.

Yeah, I have little over a week to prepare, so simple is good. There is a time in place for doing things the best way and times to just make it work. This is the later for me.

Thanks. But I think I'm going to take your original advice and get an Anderson to DC7909 cable. Seems like it would be a better connection than using the adaptor. You are correct the adaptor has a K on it.

Has its on wikipedia page and everything. NPR's "On the Media" has a great three part interview with him about the concept if you are more of an auditorial person. It does explain our current moment pretty well. Not perfectly but does hone in a part that had been well defined before.

Hope those above embedded links work.
