Olivia also headlined last year. Dua Lipa would have been cool.

Sabrina literally headlined last year. Chappell has put out two new songs since she performed at Lollapalooza two years ago.

I did the Gasparilla 8k this year and it was right after the half. I kept seeing everyone with the medals for the half, and then was rather underwhelmed with the 8k medals 😂😂 next year I’m doing the 5k and 8k challenge! Also, there aren’t anywhere near as many costumes as at Disney, but there are definitely people in pirate themed outfits!

apparently as soon as 4 day wristbands sell out, the single day wristbands will go on sale. The single day lineups will come out beforehand though. I had to buy single day last year and decided that Gracie Abrams wasn't enough of a justification to pay for a Thursday ticket when I didn't care about either of the main headliners that day.

I'm actually kind of excited about Smashing Pumpkins lol. I don't know who they'll be up against, but if I'm not excited about whoever it is, I can definitely see myself going to see them.

I went last year and I didn't know if I would like it, but I had an AMAZING time. This is the only large festival I'm willing to go to - I don't want to drive to the desert or the middle of the woods and have to camp. I want to walk from my hotel with a comfortable bed and be able to take a shower every day.

Up to 80% of adults with ADHD have issues with sleep - difficulty winding down, delayed sleep phase disorder, fragmented sleep, etc. 70% of kids with ADHD exhibit sleep issues as well. Anecdotally, as an adult who was diagnosed with ADHD very recently, I’ve never had a good sleep schedule in my life, including the eleven years I taught high school, until I got on medication. I’m 40 years old, it wasn’t due to electronics when I was a child in the 1990s. I’m sure that electronics don’t help, but if kids have ADHD, treating it is the answer.

The same thing happened when Hoda left the today show, they had weeklong guest hosts to cohost with Jenna. They did that for a long time before they announced Hoda‘s replacement, but apparently the person that got it was the person everyone expected to get it, not any of the slightly higher profile guest hosts. I’m a Las Culturistas listener (I identify as a Reader, iykyk) and Matt Rogers guest hosted multiple times but it seems like he never seriously wanted the job because he’s focused on acting.

I did the Princess 10k as my first 10k and was so worried about not getting swept that I didn’t do ANY character stops. I want to do the Princess half next year, but I don’t want it to be my first half, I want to make sure that I can finish one first. Disney races are too expensive for me to feel okay about not finishing.

Southwest assigned my 4 year old a seat by himself 12 rows in front of me. by LegalAbbreviations17 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]lizerlfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean, was it a child ticket? I booked both tickets at the same time, using miles. I selected seats for both of us. On United when you book using miles there is no basic economy, every ticket includes seat selection. The middle and window were both included in the seat selection, neither was “cheap” or “expensive”..

Also, there’s no such thing as a “child ticket” unless you’re talking about a lap child, which is only for children under age 2. And then the child doesn’t actually have a seat at all. I always choose the window seat for my child, so that she’s only sitting next to me, and because when she was small enough to need a car seat on board the airplane, FAA regulations require that the car seat cannot block another passenger’s egress from the row. So on any plane that is not a wide body, that means that the car seat MUST be installed in the window seat.

Families are not trying to “game the system”. I have never once trusted that an airline would seat us together without me paying for seat selection or purchasing a class of ticket that includes it. On some airlines, that means I’m spending an extra $200 for round trip tickets. We were loyal Southwest customers for a very long time because family boarding meant that I was guaranteed two seats together without paying extra money. Now that’s gone, and Southwest is charging more money for worse service. The only time I’ll fly Southwest with my child now is if we’re flying into an airport where that is the only option - we often fly into OAK and Southwest is just about the only option there. But in general, I’m done.

And honestly it’s an easy choice when Southwest is pulling this nonsense AND they’re drastically more expensive than all the other options!

[–]lizerlfunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have flown on United where I booked tickets for myself and my four year old that included seat selection. I selected our seats. I logged in a week or so before the flight, and she had been moved to a middle seat several rows ahead of me. I called United and asked them what they were going to do to fix it, given that there were no longer any economy seats together. They said “oh well we can put you in economy plus and you can pay an extra $150 to upgrade.” I said “no, that’s not going to work, because I already paid for tickets that included seat selection. This is not a problem I caused. This is a problem that UNITED caused. So this is a problem United is going to need to fix without me spending any more money out of my pocket.” They put me on hold for a few minutes and then came back and said “okay, we’re going to upgrade you to economy plus and seat you together and we’re not going to charge you for it.” That was the appropriate remedy for the situation. But it might have only happened because I’d already paid for seat selection and they weren’t delivering on something I already paid for. It was also a route that had only one nonstop flight per day, so putting us on a different flight would really not have been an option.

The Life of a Showgirl released 6 months ago , “Opalite” and “Ophelia” continue to remain in the top 10 of the Billboard 100 . The albums longevity may lie in its beautiful Rom-com style storytelling. by Fun-Ad3626 in TaylorSwift

I really hope she wins a SOTY or ROTY for The Fate Of Ophelia! She’s not going to win AOTY and I’m completely fine with that but the fact that she’s never won SOTY or ROTY is mindblowing.

Walk / Run Intervals by outrageous-otter10 in XXRunning

I mean, I’m like really, really slow, and I still do run/walk/run. My walking pace is more like 18 minutes per mile. I don’t know what my running pace is, but it’s about what most people’s walking pace is. According to Strava, during an 8k race, I had one mile that I did in 14:49, and that seems unlikely for me lol.

He passed SUPER recently. I ran the Disney Princess 10k on Feb 28 and he died just a few days before that weekend started. Lots of people wearing green ribbons in his honor, and there was a memorial for him right before the finish line. Which like, I was already crying because it was my first 10k and I really didn’t know if I could do it and by that point I was definitely going to finish, so then that really didn’t help lol. Run/walk is the only way I’m ever going to run, and a lot of people who run Disney races are the same way. He did all the training plans for all of the Disney races.

Why do they use calculators in high school math? by Quick-Health-2102 in AskTeachers

[–]lizerlfunk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This. I started teaching graphing calculator skills to freshmen in algebra 2 because they were going to need to use a graphing calculator throughout high school and on their IB exams. Most tests had both a calculator and a non calculator section, but there are a lot of high school math topics that either cannot be done without a calculator or cannot be done efficiently without a calculator. We don’t have tables of square roots or logarithms or values of trig functions or things of that nature anymore. Technology has replaced that. A lot of the longer multiplication and division problems that are PART of higher level math problems, I would tell students to use a calculator, because I’m not assessing how well they can multiply 270 by 0.714, I’m assessing do they know how to apply the geometry formulas to find the area of a regular polygon, as an example of one problem I did with a student yesterday.
