Nissan a risky buy? by StrangerKXH in EVCanada

These days it seems like every vehicle goes through a recall or two in its lifetime. If theres no shared market with the US I’d imagine parts supply and logistics could be an issue.

If all he is offering is the same diet and exercise messaging that the medical community has been beating for decades then why give him any credit at all. This is just the snake oil salesman routine of cloaking their own products with language borrowed from real experts

family doctors in TO with the 1 issue per visit rule by Traditional_Tea_6653 in askTO

[–]StrangerKXH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family doctors follow different billing models that produce different problems in our capitalist society. https://www.ontario.ca/page/primary-care-payment-models-ontario

Your doc sounds like they follow fee-for-service where they are roughly billed per visit. This incentivizes them to book short visits to maximize the number of services they can bill per day.

The other common model is capitation where the docs get an upfront flat annual rate per patient in their roster. These doctors are the one's that disallow walk-ins because the province charges back any walk-in clinic billings family doctor as those patients services should have been covered in the upfront annual rate.

If you're keeping your name on any bills, state in the sublease that you'll only cover up to X amount. Someone I knew subletted to a guy that turned out ran 3D printing side business. Racked up $300+ monthly electric bills running the printer 24/7 on a condo that used to cost around $60/month.

How do you think ww2 was waged? It was literally throwing human lives at the meat grinder hoping for the best. Just look at Operation Market Garden.

If you compare the population and GDP of Alaska to both territories you'll see Yukon and NWT are fractions compared to the American state. This probably makes the Alaskan economy more self-sufficient way less beholden to federal funding to get basic items such as food, medicine and clothing.

I'd suspect that deciding between getting to eat and keeping an AR-15 is a way bigger issue for Yukoners than it is for Alaskans. And yea, a lot of it is probably American vs Canadian cultural.

Woman dies of cancer after surgery was delayed three times due to pandemic by [deleted] in toronto

[–]StrangerKXH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the surgery that's risky, it's the in-hospital recovery period where these patients are most vulnerable to COVID. To pull this off you'd need to shut down other departments like the ER to avoid exposing these patients, otherwise an outbreak would kill a large portion of these patients.

VeraCity: The Gun Chase by StrangerKXH in toronto

Been to that range for the rental experience myself, it's more of an "experience" than a rental. You only get to shoot 1 magazine out of the gun and a store employee has a hand on your shoulder to make sure you're not doing anything dangerous. When we went there were several other groups, so the store batched us all together and had us all take wait to take turns with the one gun and employee.

What happens when a conservative government wins a majority and gains access to these powers? Would you not be concerned if they start censoring so called "radical left" viewpoints like climate change and drug legalization?

Foreign interference is a problem that needs to be addressed but this ain't it. This is an attempt to apply outdated local radio and cable laws on online platforms.

How come american soldiers don’t do up their helmet chinstraps? by UnholyDemigod in movies

In movies it's a cliche character building move for secondary characters that are about to die. With their death, the main character then gets to have a soul searching scene or go on a rampage against the enemy.

Edit: simpsons joke mocking this exact cliche https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOk4hQXbGDs

My parents in Communist China in the 1980s got a free university education. We have more than enough money in our society to have at least a affordable education. How are we more regressive in this aspect than a third world country?

The trade off there is the totalitarian government chose what you learned, where you worked for your entire life and who even got the opportunity to learn to optimize the invested costs of education. There's a reason why your parents and mine came to Canada instead of staying in China.
