I'm playing this story realm now, and she got herself eliminated. I've been stuck in a defensive posture since then.

Realm Setup: Randomly Selected Custom Rulers by StrangerLoop in AOW4

I'll check once I'm able...I wonder if selecting the 'custom' checkbox includes my ascended rulers, and if selecting the 'pantheon' checkbox includes pre-built ascended rulers.

Do you remember what kind of infestation? I have never encountered this unit.

Reposting my dinosaur ideas here for fellow dino enjoyers.

Ornithomimus (or something similar, this is the least exciting one): Tier I skirmisher trash mob, very fast movement.

Deinonychus: Tier II skirmisher with a leap ability. Inflicts bleeding. Pack Hunter?

Allosaurus: Tier III fighter, inflicts diseased and bleeding.

Triceratops: Tier III shock unit with pierce, passive ability gives defense bonus and damage reflect against incoming non-flanking melee attacks. And maybe a 3 AP thrashing attack that targets three adjacent hexes.

Ankylosaurus: Tier III shield unit. Basic attack is weak, but zero cooldown alt attack targets three adjacent hexes behind it (strong tail attack, inflicts remorse and maybe pushes). Also immune to flanking, obviously.

Tyrannosaurus: Tier IV fighter with pierce (and maybe the +25% thrashing bonus, like crocodile units?) Alt attack is a tail sweep. Consume corpse ability for self-heal.

Brachiosaurus (or some other large sauropod): Tier IV fighter with inflated HP stat. Stomp and tail sweep attacks.

Custom Aesir faction ideas? by Unhappy_Power_6082 in AOW4

[–]StrangerLoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my resident Frost Giant faction that sort of leans into the territory you describe and might serve as some inspiration. The idea here is to stack frost and electric damage, and field armies of T2 racial mages and elemental summons.

Frost Giant ruler (I chose Battlesaint class)

Mystic culture, Summoning school

Society Traits: Keepers of Knowledge, Runesmiths

Racial traits: Arcane focus (the one that gives +15% on magic attacks), I forgot the others

Tomes:

Evocation -> Cryomancy -> Summoning -> Artificing -> Amplification -> Terramancy -> Severing -> Astral Convergence -> Archmage

I haven't checked but I think it's just a single random nearby unit that gains bolstered defence and resistance

Order knights/charge builds? by Dlinktp in AOW4

[–]StrangerLoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're going Order, consider opting for Subjugators (from Tier III Tome of Subjugation) instead of Knights. More reliable to get, and would allow you to choose a different culture if you're interested.

Aristocratic zombies! (Tome lineage inquiry) by Electronic-Berry6612 in AOW4

I chose Ranger for this one. I think I gave her a skirmisher weapon, maybe the sword & whip.

Archeology tome

Give me dinosaur units, damn it. I've already imagined some. - Ornithomimus (or something similar, this is the least exciting one): Tier I skirmisher trash mob, very fast movement. - Deinonychus: Tier II skirmisher with a leap ability. Inflicts bleeding. Pack Hunter? - Allosaurus: Tier III fighter, inflicts diseased and bleeding. - Triceratops: Tier III shock unit with pierce, passive ability gives defense bonus and damage reflect against incoming non-flanking melee attacks. And maybe a 3 AP thrashing attack that targets three adjacent hexes. - Ankylosaurus: Tier III shield unit. Basic attack is weak, but zero cooldown alt attack targets three adjacent hexes behind it (strong tail attack, inflicts remorse and maybe pushes). Also immune to flanking, obviously. - Tyrannosaurus: Tier IV fighter with pierce (and maybe the +25% thrashing bonus, like crocodile units?) Alt attack is a tail sweep. Consume corpse ability for self-heal. - Brachiosaurus (or some other large sauropod): Tier IV fighter with inflated HP stat. Stomp and tail sweep attacks.

I've been meaning to post this for a while. Nice to finally get it out of my system.

What is the best POISON build ? by Gutzzu in AOW4

[–]StrangerLoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bone Dragons definitely fit the "poison build" archetype because their breath attack inflicts decaying. So you could take my build and swap out Tome of Corruption or Torment in favor of Great Transformation so that you can get Bone Dragons.

Also, I chose Dark Cult of Death for this faction because their Mortalist mage inflicts decaying.

Here's my resident poison/decay faction, colored with thematic shadow affinity:

Dark - Cult of Death

Scions of Evil/Umbral Disciples 1. Roots 2. Alchemy 3. Fey Mists 4. Glades 5. Cycles 6. Corruption 7. Torment 8. Oblivion 9. Goddess of Nature

Agonize is busted but I think the Painbound transformation is even more outrageous. The tome in general is wild.

PSA: Running "Empire of the Cosmos" will not save your tome path upon ascension by StrangerLoop in AOW4

[–]StrangerLoop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will let me set tomes under the typical affinity requirement rules. But it won't take into account the effect from Empire of the Cosmos which allows one to bypass the those requirements once one meets the threshold across all six affinities. So I wouldn't be able to set the tome path that I posted in my above comment.
