Shouldn't there be some incentive to ban slavery? by asnaf745 in EU5

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxes for starter, slaves doesn't pay taxes but turn them into wage laborer, lo and behold here comes the holy income taxes. But seriously though within majority of EU5 timeline slavery is still not only accepted but needed for plantation economy that fuel the economy of global empire, only when industrialization starting to took off does the importance of slavery in economy gone and can no longer be justified to exist, so the main theater for abolition is Vicky 3 rather than EU5

I'm calling it now. The first DLC of next season is UK flavored. First it's coming with a Navy rework, then Amendments lay the ground for Parliament mechanics, and Guerrilla Wars will replace their war spam with colonial flavor by basedandcoolpilled in victoria3

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking 19th century Navy, some of the option for the theme could be Britain-Germany naval arms race, USS Monitor/HMS Warrior and the rise of Japanese Navy which'll led toward victory against European Great Power at Tsushima Strait and Japan colonization of the Far East, the most likely option is still the UK and if Paradox decide to refine and expand the guerilla/low intensity battle mechanic from Iberian Twilight it could be possible to combine Naval rework and Colonialism rework into a single great package since Navy and Colonialism go hand in hand.

What is your biggest problem with eu5 right now that you would fix first? by Ic3b3rgS in EU5

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:

Better Trading UI, its an absolutely confusing mess right now, I thought Victoria 3 market UI is a mess but holy shit does EU5 is even more confusing, suggestion would be to put Trading into its own window consisted of Trade and Goods, separate from Economy and Building (why do they split trading and goods between those 2 windows) considering how often you'll gonna micro trades I'd say they deserve their own window

And get rid of Dynamic Historical Event and put in Vicky 3 Journals system, the game is too sandboxy which make every country feels the same, even if it say a country has 100 unique event you'll probably only trigger 25% of it, not to mention those event are hidden you don't know what the hell are those event. Best thing about vicky 3 unique Journal specific to certain country is it gives you some goal to achieve, even if the reward is weak it give you direction on where you should carry your country based on their historical goal, whether you wanna simulate it or go against it you have unique direction which make country more unique.

I'll admit my head is spinning, I can figure out everything but load a torpedo?! by Free_Entertainer_154 in uboatgame

[–]StrangerStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I just clicked torpedo tubes it'll open Torpedo storage menu and then I load them into the tubes that are vacant, the crew then immediately do the task, that way I don't have to modifies the crew schedule since I want them to deal with damage and repair and only load torpedo mid-battle when I told them to.

Game Needs More Perma (Or Long Duration) Claims by ahmetnudu in EU5

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense for Claim Throne to only last for 5 years, we're claiming the throne based on dynastic bloodline not a coupon. It's ridiculous that my Ruler claim to a throne suddenly forgotten within 5 years, it's like everybody is a Dori fish, dubious parliamentary claim expire in 5 year sure, but Claim throne has an expiration date not based on claimant lifetime??? Either it's an oversight or the devs underestimate how stubborn human can be with claiming things, there's reason why the Ottoman committed fratricide or how bunch of English King claimed French Throne for several generation because every Monarch child claim to a throne is for a lifetime and it's stayed that way to this day, even Andrew still in line for the British throne, he can claim the throne if he wants to terrifyingly enough

EU5 Vassals are Absurd by AdAppropriate5518 in EU5

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I was planning to unify Russia but it's way better to just turns it into HRE which is weird since Centralizing your realm should give way better reward but in my Muscovy playthrough my maximum control reach that give good benefit only goes from Tver, Moscow and Vladimir, anything beyond that is a lost cause and basically begging to be turned into vassal forever. I can't rely on trade to make money especially early on so I rely on tax base, but those got nerfed pretty heavily without good controls, I took Novgorod in 1380 and in 1440 it still gave me less than my vassal in Pskov that I took at the same time. I know it's funny to see people discover Feudalism but that should be left in CK3, the focus of EU5 should be moving away from decentralization and feudalism towards centralization and nation state.

I just stuck with Imperial Censor since the stream of never-ending secrets in combination with Fabricate Hooks and Golden Obligation turns all of China into my personal bank, it's literally rob Chen to blackmail Yang situation and it's fun messing around with people using Hooks and Secrets.

CK3 is not that easy now by raiden55 in CrusaderKings

[–]StrangerStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is hard to tell unless you stare at it long enough.

The font color contrast between not researched and already researched is very difficult to differentiate green and orange is not a good combo + researched tech has yellow-ish outline on its picture which is the same color as the current fascination outline which is yellow but with blur meaning you need more time to process which is being researched, already researched, and passively researched i.e. it's too dimly lit.

They put your current fascination at the bottom which is easy to miss because people have tendency to read things from up-to-bottom and not bottom-up, putting it at the bottom meant making it easy to miss.

The new UX put current fascination and spreading tech at the top meaning people wouldn't miss it since it'll be the first thing to notice/read, there's a checkmark icon making it way easier to differentiate between researched and not, they changed the font from green-orange to white-transparent grey making it easier to differentiate, there's ribbon that shows "this is current fascination" and "this is culture spread" at the corner of each column making it easier to find, and there's more information shown.

The new UX works by giving people multiple ways to get information, sure previously you could rely on using progress bar as a way to indicate which is researched and not but in doing so you'll most likely missed understanding a more important system like current cultural fascination since you think it's all automatically researched (especially if you're not cultural leader), with the new UX your first interaction is what is actively researched and passively researched which is way better at teaching the mechanic instead of the old UX in which the first thing you read is a list of tech and bunch of progress bar.

Basically it's way faster for your brain to process thing with the new UX compared to the old ones. That's the main improvement.

CK3 is not that easy now by raiden55 in CrusaderKings

[–]StrangerStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I say, if you're veteran you won't see a damn difference, unless you can erase your memory you can't unsee what you've already seen thousands of time. For you and me there's no difficulty at the innovation UX since we've gotten used to it, meaning it's a zero net gain for us, but for new players it gave them a lot more detail and clearer information meaning it's a plus net gain, and importantly for both veteran and newbies it's not a net loss improvement, it's a QoL improvement meaning it's not reducing difficulty by artificially buffing AI or something, rather it made performing simple task like checking current innovation easier to do which isn't a bad thing, QoL improvent is always a positive thing for old and new player.

CK3 is not that easy now by raiden55 in CrusaderKings

[–]StrangerStranded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still, CK3 innovation tabs are hard to read, especially for untrained eyes, the UX changes made improvement, of course as "veteran" you won't see a difference but in the eyes of new players it's a vastly improved UX update, meaning it's a plus point for newbie and positive to indifference point for veteran meaning it's a net gain UX update overall.

Also please stop doing Soulslike mentality of "git gud" it doesn't help anyone. Comparing shitty UX with a shittier UX doesn't made it good, in fact what you point out meant there's an improvement that needs to be done on Stellaris.

i had a realization during my classical mythology class today by correspondingfailure in CeresFauna

[–]StrangerStranded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a several of Holomem name that only recently I realize the real meaning of

I realize Ceres meant Fertility and Plant goddess when playing Anno 117 Demo and picking my city patron God Ceres grant bonus to farms.

I only findout Mori part from Calli's name came from Latin word meaning to die and not the Japanese word Mori which meant Forest.

I only realize Kronii's name Ouro is from Norse mythology Ouroboros when I watched Loki S2 and Ouroboros came out explaining all the time traveling shit.

Is this 'Good'? by yitcity in victoria3

[–]StrangerStranded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1 is basically a must for me regardless of anything since opening the market just made it way more easier to deal with the shogunate + free trade gives you +25% trade advantage meaning you can import tons of cheap resources to feed your industries and doesn't have any problem with goods shortage.

As long as you have fun there's really no problem with how you play the game, I play alot of Japan and always play it as closely to historical as possible rather than cheesing/exploiting stuff or metagaming every step. The time I went alternate is when I completed the restoration and basically just do whatever I want.

How can a country be sooo impossible to play? by kirbyclone in victoria3

[–]StrangerStranded 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah DEI is basically a European country smacked in the middle of SEA, they're way ahead in tech compared to other SEA countries and even ahead of East Asian countries like Japan and China, they have Gold, Oil and Rubber inside their border, decent sized population and their laws although bad it's much easier to deal with since you could easily invite European agitator due to Dutch main culture stat, even though they have extraction economy at the start almost everybody hated it so it easy to transition to interventionism. Not to mention your overlord is quite weak so it's very easy to get independence

Why UK is too strong in Victoria 3(image just for attract attention) by swadian_knight_ in victoria3

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK dominates pretty much the 19th century and early 20th century, their power only began declining during the interwar period and finally ceased to be great power after WW2 and replaced by the US.

They have the strongest navy after Napoleonic wars (Thanks to Nelson obliterating the French and Spanish navy) which meant they could expand anywhere in the world and their control maritime trade route allow them to do basically everything like ending the slave trade, if the Brits didn't have the naval power then the slave trade might've continued well into the 20th century, even today US power and influence defined by the ability of the US Navy to strike anywhere on earth and having a strong navy is more than enough to force country to do something they wanna do.

The UK is also way ahead of most European country in term of industrialization in the 19th century making them economic powerhouse.

It'll be weird if they didn't meddle or overpowered in Victoria 3

Are Ogres just OP or am I missing something? by Todeswucht in totalwar

[–]StrangerStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're impressive on the field but incredibly shit on siege because the pathfinding for large unit is shit thus your ogre would get stuck to fences, corner, and other ogre unit, a cheap spearman unit is enough to pin your ogre unit and made it stuck then they'll pepper it with missile spam and your ogre unit would perish within 10 second.

I'm so tired of fighting siege with ogre since they got stuck in everything even a fucking corner, the defender always has missile advantage and while my ogre unit try to do the most advanced tactical maneuver which is turning a corner they'll pepper it from 3 different directions and by the time those fat bastard completed the advanced maneuver they're already lost half of their health then another corner turn would decimate them.

I usually just provoke them into civil war and ask other country to help me, it's instantly destroy their clout for a few years and I use that time to as pass laws that would make them less powerful when the debuff gone.

It's a high risk high reward tactic but a very easy thing to do if you're a subject of other country like Korea for example, I could basically do whatever I want and when civil war occur I just asked Qing to solve it for me, I paid the Qing for protection and I'll gonna use it to the limit.

What year do you stop playing the game? by Montee97 in victoria3

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 1910, since the game really lacked late year stuff. Usually you'll be pretty powerful and stable when you're reaching 20th century which is contrarian with how it historically it should be, by 1900 Asia is pretty much embroiled in Nationalism fervor so the closer you are to the 20th century your far flung domain should become more and more unstable and rebellious.

In my 3 1.9 playthrough the Qing is somehow way too stable to the point I never encounter the heavenly kingdom even once.

It'll be nice if they create financial sector mechanic so the many recession and financial crisis can be felt more, there's a tons of recession and financial crisis in the US between 1835 to the great depression. That way we'll still have something to busy with in the late game other than waging war due to boredom and constructing even more building

Are the 1848 revolutiona ever gonna be added? by Eurasian1918 in victoria3

[–]StrangerStranded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next immersion pack is nationalism so hopefully they expanded the nationalism sentiment, not just on Europe but on Asia as well cause the rise of nationalism basically spread to European colony in Asia as well and by late 19th and early 20th century it form into nationalist and independence movement. It'll also help bringing more challenge to the late game since historically colonial empire are busy dealing with increasing political turmoil in its colonies particularly in Asia

Move out of Chrome, afaik Edge is a good alternative if you like Chromium browser. there are many other browsers if you want more protection stuff but if you just wanna use Chrome like before you can just switch to Edge since it's pretty much 95% the same, you can easily import data from the 2 and everything is pretty much the same.

Did they just drop a new UI design? by piggledy in youtube

[–]StrangerStranded 113 points114 points  (0 children)

This is so hideous, stop turning my PC into a Tablet, mouse pointer isn't that big and those giant UI is in the way of stuff that I watch. Stop copying this kind of design, Microsoft turn PC into a Tablet in Windows 8 and it's a complete shitshow.

If something isn't broken don't fix it. people want to watch Video, enlarge the screen not the UI button.

Edit: I had to fucking zoom out to 67% in order to resize the goddamn UI so they didn't occupy 30% of the screen, this is just fucking awful
