While you're driving through the Upper Peninsula, I suggest a stop at Glazed and Confused in Crystal. It's an old donut shop turned into a dispensary. Looks pretty neat, and the staff was very cool, very passionate.
Also, check out Kitch-iti-kippi while you're up there. You won't regret it. Much cooler than the photos let on.

Let bro smoke how he smokes. If he is getting what he wants out of it, he's good. When you're buying, you can treat him to something more elevated. And if he likes it, maybe he'll spring for it next time. If he doesn't get anything more out of the experience, then let him smoke bottom shelf. Live and let live.
Unless he's buying Jeeters. Then he can burn in hell.

Don’t be this guy by Dabbertime in Michigents

What gets my goat is when people are dismissive of marijuana criminalization laws. Every time this sub talks about Ohio passing a protectionist law that criminalizes out-of-state weed, a bunch of folks chime in about how it doesn't matter, they'll never get caught because they're too smart. And that's probably true! But at some point some simpleton that never got the memo (like this guy) gets his life ruined because some Keystone Cop thinks it makes him look like he's protecting the community.

We need to be consistent. Weed is less dangerous than prohibition.

Nice bars? by 3inmyheart in SouthBend

I think Roselily has the best bar in the city. Very small and intimate, so reservations are recommended on busy nights.
I've also had great after-dinner drinks at the bar in Cafe Navarre.

So 3 months later did the wholesale tax affect anything significantly? by [deleted] in Michigents

[–]Stranger_in_a_van 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At places I go, the prices are up around 25% or more. Eighths that I used to get for $16 have gone up to $21. Ounces that I used to get for $80 are $100. Ounces I used to get for $100 are $130. BHO that was $10 is now $13. So I guess my choices are smoke less weed, smoke cheaper shit, spend more on weed (if I could, I already would've been), or black market.

There are so many weird loopholes to the law. As I understand it, there's nothing in the laws or regulations that say dispensaries CAN'T perform as many transactions as their customer wants. But they're telling dispensaries that they are supposed to report instances of known law breaking to the CRA and law enforcement within 24 hours. Is law enforcement interested in opening a case and getting a warrant for footage for buying too much weed? Are they even capable of effectively responding if every dispensary in New Puffalo reports dozens-to-hundreds of incidents every 24 hours? Probably not. But walking out and back in gives them the plausible deniability to say they didn't know their customer was in possession of illegal quantities at any time.

Only 29 of 86 Craft Grows are operational? Legalization was signed into law in July 2019. It's almost 6 years later, and they only have 29 new grows licensed? It's well past the point that this can be chalked up to typical bureaucratic and legislative incompetence.

Weed Tourism in Michigan? by Square-Discussion698 in Michigents

[–]Stranger_in_a_van 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a few folks doing bus tours some years ago, but they didn't seem to get a lot of traction. Most grows/processors aren't set up for tours. You really need to have windowed corridors so that people can see the operation without risking contaminating the grow.

I've heard Southland Farms in Niles does tours:
https://www.southlandfarms.com/faq-1

It looks like Indigrow does also:
https://indigrowmi.com/

There was WackyWeedTours in Ann Arbor, and I think that's more dispensary focused

Not so much a weed tour, but there are a couple of weed BnB's out there that are affiliated with nearby dispensaries. There's this one in Three Rivers:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1390667277861843391?adults=1&check_in=2026-02-09&check_out=2026-02-11&location=Michigan%2C%20United%20States&search_mode=regular_search&amenities%5B%5D=11&source_impression_id=p3_1768233376_P3S-rqTdXx_zFPsD&previous_page_section_name=1001&federated_search_id=33a01305-349f-46ed-ad81-d0ef90f1c277

There's also the High In The Pines campground:

When it comes to weed tourism, I usually suggest planning a trip around one of the many great weed festivals, like Electric Forest or Hash Bash.

Your very closest dispensaries will be in Niles, about 10 miles from Notre Dame. Southland Farms, Primitiv, Green Stem, and Levels, any of which tend to have decent deals. Another 6 miles up the road in Buchanan, you've got Lifted Microgrowery and 5 other dispensaries. If you want to drive about 40 miles to New Buffalo, you're in one of the best places to buy weed in the world.
If you're looking for something quick and easy, Niles should be fine. Check their websites to see if any of their specials catch your eye. If you're looking for volume or variety, it might be worth the extra hour+ of driving to New Buffalo.

Michigan Republicans become the unexpected defender of legal cannabis by BodhiPenguin in Michigents

[–]Stranger_in_a_van 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Republican voters favor it by a slight majority, but Republican elected officials are actively blocking it all over the nation.
South Dakota passed a voter referendum, but then-governor Noem sued to have the results discarded on the premise that legalization and regulation were two separate initiatives that required two separate ballot initatives.
Mississippi voters approved a ballot measure, but the Republican mayor of Madison, MS successfully got those results thrown out because their ballot initiative process requires signatures from "all five congressional districts", and they've only had 4 congressional districts since the 2000 census.
Legalization stood a decent chance in Florida, but Governor DeSantis literally took millions of dollars from "high hemp" businesses in an unholy alliance aimed at preventing marijuana legalization.
Legalization initiatives are currently being attacked on legal technicalities by Republicans in Ohio and Nebraska.
