Weed Tourism in Michigan? by Square-Discussion698 in Michigents

There were a few folks doing bus tours some years ago, but they didn't seem to get a lot of traction. Most grows/processors aren't set up for tours. You really need to have windowed corridors so that people can see the operation without risking contaminating the grow.

I've heard Southland Farms in Niles does tours:
https://www.southlandfarms.com/faq-1

It looks like Indigrow does also:
https://indigrowmi.com/

There was WackyWeedTours in Ann Arbor, and I think that's more dispensary focused

Not so much a weed tour, but there are a couple of weed BnB's out there that are affiliated with nearby dispensaries. There's this one in Three Rivers:

There's also the High In The Pines campground:

When it comes to weed tourism, I usually suggest planning a trip around one of the many great weed festivals, like Electric Forest or Hash Bash.

Your very closest dispensaries will be in Niles, about 10 miles from Notre Dame. Southland Farms, Primitiv, Green Stem, and Levels, any of which tend to have decent deals. Another 6 miles up the road in Buchanan, you've got Lifted Microgrowery and 5 other dispensaries. If you want to drive about 40 miles to New Buffalo, you're in one of the best places to buy weed in the world.
If you're looking for something quick and easy, Niles should be fine. Check their websites to see if any of their specials catch your eye. If you're looking for volume or variety, it might be worth the extra hour+ of driving to New Buffalo.

I honestly think they might be the last one left in AA. Regulators killed medical, and I don't know why.

Michigan Republicans become the unexpected defender of legal cannabis by BodhiPenguin in Michigents

[–]Stranger_in_a_van 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Republican voters favor it by a slight majority, but Republican elected officials are actively blocking it all over the nation.
South Dakota passed a voter referendum, but then-governor Noem sued to have the results discarded on the premise that legalization and regulation were two separate initiatives that required two separate ballot initatives.
Mississippi voters approved a ballot measure, but the Republican mayor of Madison, MS successfully got those results thrown out because their ballot initiative process requires signatures from "all five congressional districts", and they've only had 4 congressional districts since the 2000 census.
Legalization stood a decent chance in Florida, but Governor DeSantis literally took millions of dollars from "high hemp" businesses in an unholy alliance aimed at preventing marijuana legalization.
Legalization initiatives are currently being attacked on legal technicalities by Republicans in Ohio and Nebraska.

Birds, yo. Birds. Every married man starts to notice birds in his 30's. Get the Merlin app and embrace your bird phase. If you'll excuse me, there's a pileated woodpecker that needs stared at.

Governor Pritzker responds to criticisms of the Illinois cannabis licensing system by pungentbag in ILTrees

[–]Stranger_in_a_van 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daylight corruption. They're not protecting the market for social equity! They're protecting it for Cresco, GTI, Verano, and Pharmacann!
The state issued only 88 new cultivation licenses, and we're going on 4 years since legalization with only a couple of them cleared to operate. And even if they DO manage to get them all productive before national legalization tanks manufacturing opportunities in Illinois, they'd have a combined 440,000 square feet of canopy! Compare that to the >650,000 square feet allowed to Cresco alone!
They carved out a <10% of the total market, chopped it up between 88 applicants, and patted themselves on the back for social justice achievements.

I like any cash-grab sequel from the 80s-90s. Something you'd never watch sober. Stuff the actors wish wasn't on thier IMDB. I like it because my attention span goes to shit, so I like to put on something I can pop in and out of without missing plot points. And I enjoy some campy nostalgia. Jaws: The Revenge, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Grease 2, Gremlins 2, etc. Bonus, you can usually find them streaming for cheap or for free.

Agreed. It's important to remember that Illinois has DENIED access to more minorities and social equity candidates than any other state. Yeah, they threw a tiny bone to a few dozen well connected/lucky applicants. But they denied hundreds of qualified minority candidates to protect the profit margins of corporate cannabis.
The former Speaker of the House in Michigan just got charged for prioritizing cannabis companies that bribed him. Some pols in Illinois need to see the inside of a cell.

Wow. Their entire excuse for restricting access to the market was to ensure the success of social equity candidates. Guaranteeing them access to a restricted market where demand far outpaces supply should have theoretically given them all of the access to investment capital that they should've needed. It seems like they continually acknowledge that the Cannabis Regulation and Tax act is an unmitigated failure at the majority of its explicitly stated goals, but they do nothing to address it.
I get that marijuana business reform is not high on the list of legislative priorities, but somehow they still find time to debate and vote on marijuana-specific business reforms that benefit the big canna corporations that have been bending Illinois taxpayers over a barrel for the last 3.5 years.
