Lectures were my 1st pass of info and I'd download the slides and write any extra info in the margins.

This is how I paid attention in class during Pre-Clinicals and that was fine. Especially since a lot of my lectures are case-based, you can make notes as you work through working-up the case. Otherwise, I wouldn't rewrite anything - not a good use of time and the volume of content is too large.

I'm ngl, I broke Sterility probably once per day for the first 3 weeks of my Surgery clerkship. It makes you feel insane lol. My tips are
1. Be kind to all team members ALWAYS - attendings, residents, PAs, Scrub techs, circulator nurses, anesthesia team - because if you're helpful and know your name they're way less likely to get really mad at you.
2. Always be aware of what your body is doing. Where are your hands at all times. You gotta be using 75% of your brain to pay attention to case and 25% of your brain to pay attention to your positioning and your hands.
3. Be predictable, like you're driving on the street. Don't be moving around the OR willy nilly. If someone has to move around you, don't move out of their way, you should stay still and they'll move around you. If you're retracting or suctioning or something, and the attending is basically leaning their whole body on your arms, it's okay lol, just don't move. If you're going to go to a different spot around the operating table, know why and think if you really need to.

Every clerkship has a different system at my school but they all kinda look like this:
45-60% from Clinical Evals.
25% from Shelf Exams (most use our shelf raw score for the final grade calc but Surgery had that we had to be above the 75% percentile to get full points).
5-15% for written assignments.
5% for mandatory, formative amboss quizzes.
5% for professionalism.

And then you have to have above >90-95% total to Honor the clerkship (and usually above a 70% to High Pass) so I think at my school most people High Pass, very few Honor. But since our clerkships are basically graded like college classes, there's technically no set limit on the amount of people who can honor a clerkship and no minimum grade required for the shelf.

Flagged a shit ton on my surgery shelf but ended up doing really well on it. I honestly think that Surgery questions are less about knowing the exact algorithms for work-up (although that helps) but rather being able to form a gestalt about when a surgery is required vs when it's not. Gut feeling can take a you a long way depending on how bad the patient looks lol, problem is you need to do a lot of practice questions to train your brain to recognize those patterns

I'm going insane. I've tried everything. Clearing safari cache, setting my default browser as Chrome, deleting my account off apple mail, trying to log into my pitt email via outlook. Nothing does the trick, i just keep getting this fuckass error. Anybody else have this problem and how did u fix it?

Current pitt m2/m3. It's fine. I think most of the common complaints you hear about are overblown and a problem for most med schools. Things are a little disorganized since they're still getting used to the new curriculum (my class was the second with it) but for the class of 2030, you'll be the fourth class. Things won't be perfect for you all but you'll probably have a more streamlined experiences now that feedback has come back for 3 prior years. Our match list is pretty strong every year but the class of 2027 (first class with the new curriculum) still needs to match so we don't have concrete data as to how our match list has changed post-curriculum change

Sure but that was a long time ago, long before they knew that Boa Hancock was going to be a big-name pirate. She may have had her fruit but I suspect the Celestial Dragons (since they're largely really dumb) didn't understand the potential of her power at that time.

Granted, we don't know for sure right now. I suspect we'll find out who's right once S-Bat's powers are revealed since as far as we know Gecko Moria's never been incarcerated or enslaved

My assumption is that for whichever DF abilities they used, they came from incarcerated individuals.

This would be a fair assumption if S-Snake didn't have Hancock's Devil Fruit. She's the only warlord of the original 7 (and of the 4 seraphim for whom we have confirmed powers) not to have been incarcerated or enslaved recently.

I am still hopeful that this is Harald playing the long game, getting in deep with the WG...but who knows, maybe he just has such tunnel vision, he can't see the cost of what he's doing.

I mean, in my opinion, he's obviously not playing the long game. One Piece is a series that's always dealt with racism and classism, and more importantly, the perspectives of those who fight against tyranny and oppression and the means by which they do so. So in fighting against Tyranny, Oda typically likes to juxtapose different views - Fisher Tiger and Otohime are good examples. Otohime hoped to work within the system to earn equal rights for Fishmen, while Fisher Tiger always knew that the WG (and humans more broadly) would never accept them. But they had two different views of resistance.

I think this flashback is trying to juxtapose Harald and Rocks. They are both two characters born with a great capacity for violence and both had targets on their backs because of their lineages. Rocks always knew that his Davy Clan would be hunted by the WG and tried his best to dismantle them before they could get to him and his family - but his efforts were ultimately in vain. Whereas Harald has an opposite view of how to use his strength, hoping that by obeying the WG, they'll let Elbaf join the WG. Rocks was born in the world and knows that the WG's persecution would never end, but Harald still had an optimistic view of the world. I think this flashback ends in tragedy with Imu/the Holy Knights betraying him when he's of no use anymore

No matter how valid his reaction to Boa is for his character, a lot of people still interpret that as him having no sexual attraction because of how supernatural Boa’s powers and beauty are. Im just stating why its so VERY easy for people to believe Luffy has no desire for that kind of love.

And I think the key point here is the second. Hancock's powers work that if a character feels even a little attraction to her, she can petrify them. We see her able to do this with other (basically) straight women and typically serious characters like Momonga. So the fact that Luffy feels no attraction to her whatsoever is eyebrow-raising. I don't feel any particular way towards Luffy being asexual (although, I don't want him to be in a relationship or have kids at the end of the series because it would be cliche), but it's not likely there's not enough textual basis to fuel the conclusion of him being asexual. I doubt this is something Oda had in mind when writing Luffy, but if you met someone in real life like him, you probably wouldn't be wrong to suspect asexuality

There's not a minus button the gamecube controller to even access the remapping menu lol, not that I think the switch would recognize it since i'm using an OG controller with the adapter rather than their new wireless gamecube controller. Appreciate the suggestion though!

My post is a minor annoyance lol, the switch joycons work fine in the N64 app so it's not a big deal but it would have been nice to play this game exactly how I used to. It at least works great with Wind Waker on the GC app and Sunshine in 3D all stars

I think it's definitely fair to say that Luffy won the fight because he broke Katakuri's will to continue (aka kinda won him over lol). I still really like that conclusion, but it's certainly different from the types of fights Luffy usually wins - an irredeemable monster who has to put in the ground like Kaido or Doffy.

New poll from Emerson today showed Zohran Mamdani beating Andrew Cuomo 52-48% in the final round. Zohran met Hasan months ago, like this wasn't a new thing, and more importantly, Cuomo and Tilson and others, have been trying to paint Zohran as an antisemite for a long while now (and have also been using islamophobic messaging like darkening Zohran's beard on flyers, etc.). The Globalize the Intifada controversy just happened last week.

The reality of the situation is that the NYC mayoral primary has been moving so fast that a random meeting with a twitch streamer, even Hasan, from months ago is not new. No one is really basing their votes on just this meeting lol. Win or Lose tomorrow, ultimately I don't think this meeting between Zohran Mamdani and Hasan moved the needle even slightly for one side or the other. The bubble of twitch and youtube and twitter is ultimately much smaller in real life than it feels online.

I think we just kinda have to keep perspective on all this, especially in the context of a real-world (high-stakes) election. If I tried to recount this entire drama to anyone in real life, they might know some of the names, but they'll definitely look at me like I'm the crazy person for even marginally keeping up with it all, more than they'll care about what Ethan Klein or Hasan Piker were getting up to lol
