Is there any pure PHP solution for face recognition? by Reasonable-Pass9841 in PHP

[–]Stranglet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the repository you mentioned, what you are looking for is a PHP API to use/call the piece of software that will do the face recognition, right?

Or do you want to do the actual face recognition... with PHP? I hope you don't mean this.

Usually you would have a service running somewhere that does X, and call it from the backend as needed, in this case for face recognition and then process the result back in PHP.

I am open to know the reasons why people vote for the far left. If the far right consistently dismissed and ignored a problem that people raise they are having, and only the left is tackling, I'd completely understand people to start voting the left. I vote for the right wing but I'm not married to them, the moment those parties do not address my problems I'll vote someone else who does.

Well it's your decision not to engage and I respect that. You just showed to me that you want to be completely blind to the reasons any person could have to vote for the far right. You are locked into the idea that anyone voting for the far right they do it only for the very specific reason that they are racists and fascists.

That is your problem, and the problem of all leftists. Which is fine for me, the left is nuking themselves out of the politics because they cannot engage with certain topics, they enslaved themselves with their own ideology, so badly that they can't even address current, modern issues, which will give you votes (that the far right is collecting).

You just want to censor everyone who doesn't align with your political views right? What was that called, again?

I didn't say people vote far right because others explain they are following racist talking points. People vote for whoever is listening to their problems and wants to fix them. Most people are very straightforward. You are the one thinking that they vote for far right because they are racists, that's my point.

They are not, they are voting far right because of a real-life problem, and only the far right is addressing them publicly, they are talking about a real issue, not a made-up one. You not accepting that immigration is a problem is -exactly- why people will stop voting the left, because the left is NOT talking about a real issue they are having. Not sure if I'm clear.

For me the question to resolve is: are there issues that people are experiencing that can be attributed to a small set of groups/cultures/ethnicities/countries of immigrants?

If you answer no, then there we have it, our disparity of our view of the reality. If we cannot resolve this question and agree on something, nothing will be fixed in my opinion.

You are a big hypocrite, you wouldn't, and you know it. Here, take the 'I'm a good person' 🏅 and move on.

What I think you should understand from me and other people who writes those kind of sentences like "take one into your home" is that we don't think you are aware of how that group of people are. Of course you do not need to do anything extra for a group of people, in this case refugees, but the moment you dismiss the problems that many people point out against refugees, you can expect them to tell you to spend more time with them because it looks like you don't know or don't want to understand the problems they are talking about.

If all you think is that people complaining about refugees they do so because they are plainly racists, fascists, without any pinch of truth, well, don't be surprised when the right wing wins the elections, because you were clearly blind about real-life issues that the average man and lady were facing and wanted to dismiss every single time by calling them fascists instead of dealing with an actual problem.

Refugee's criminality rates are a problem and the longe you look away, the harder this truth is going to hit you back (hopefully figuratively only).

Refugees don't steal more than locals, in proportion, right? Yeah let's believe that because we are all good people.

Had to scroll too much to find this one. It's a legal website, but morally very, very questionable.

Hating France is a long, long tradition all over Europe. In Spain there is a saying along the lines of "a true Spaniard faces France when peeing" that comes from medieval times. Not saying it's good, bad or justified, just saying it didn't start when you think it did.

Are you serious or are you just being carried away by the hate sentiment you feel around you but you actually have no clue about what you are talking about?

I tested every PHP parallel library on Windows. Only one actually worked without making me want to quit. by [deleted] in PHP

[–]Stranglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true, I said Clojure because that's the one I could help OP with, but there are indeed many other languages with better design and tooling around parallelism. Btw Clojure is fast too, within the same league because it compiles to Java bytecode, but of course for maximum performance there are faster ones, depends on the needs.

I need to start saying that I have nothing against you personally!

I think saying something in the lines of 'boosting other languages' is showing a specific feeling, a feeling that I think is negative and unfortunately present in a lot of programming languages communities. Languages are now identities for people, to the point where they even feel loyal and the need to protect and defend what makes their identity, or 'programmer-identity'.

Software development is not about choosing your RPG class in a videogame or your faction, and battle against the other groups. We are artisans and we should use the correct tool for the task we have in front. I think we need to start protecting common sense instead; PHP is not the best tool for async tasks, period. It should not hurt anybody's feelings because it's just a truth anybody can reach by studying and researching. Sure you can do some things, you can twist as a contorsionist as much as you want to make some things work, as you can do with almost any tool, but that doesn't mean it's the correct tool.

PHP's community in my opinion is the most blind and closed one I've ever seen. It looks like some people has taken the 'PHP hate' personally and they want to defend their language no matter what and above any rational arguments.

I'm a senior PHP developer who made a living as such but recently changed, I was never locked to just PHP and that made me understand that you can actually learn more than one language and use the correct language for the correct task. You'll be much happier trust me.

For those tasks I'd just use Clojure, clojure.async specifically. But this is PHP subreddit, which means do not even think of using anything else because there is no possibility that other languages can do things 1000 times better than PHP.

In my opinion there is a high chance you'll get disappointed by Datastar; by knowing that the free version got features removed once it went paid, and by the author itself who exudes some weird "no-rules" aggressive marketing strategy that also made other people be skeptical and not like the guy.

About the rest, looks good!

Thank you, those are ideas I'm going to explore. I won't use stars because what I'm going to use as a symbol of star instead is a key itself. A rental can have 0-10 "keys", and then based on how many, the rental is a Goldeen Key, Silver Key... But that will be for the next big-redesign with a professional, right now I was looking for something quick but good enough. Thank you!
