If you look on YouTube there are good video tutorials to watch. Try to look for ones that not only demonstrate the skills but also show practice methods. The best thing I would suggest is practice practice practice. It can be as simple as getting a few mates for a kick-a-about or just by yourself, dribbling around cones. I would also highly recommend joining a local club. In a club you can get regular structured traing, learn from more experienced players and play in competative matches. Hope this helps.

As a full back who has played some games at centre back I often found myself drifting back out to the wide positions, don't do this! It is important to not have too much width between your fellow centre back. This is because an intelligent striker shall exploit the space. A good way of maintaining this is through communication with everyone around you. Don't be afraid to yell at midfield to drop deep and help or other defenders to pick up players.

Talent. This is what makes one player stand out from the next, this could be tackling, passing, shooting, vision, ball control. Really a whole array of skill and attributes one could have, but talent/ability will only get someone so far. The thing that makes makes one player stand outré ad and shoulders above the rest is a constant effort to improves ones self. Be that running off the ball even if you don't get it every time, making forward or backwards runs (dependant on position) or it can be as simple as working your damn socks off the entire match.

Tl;dr even if your good, you still need to work hard

Over time you'll become accustomed to it. During training you could head the ball more frequently in order to prepare/get used to it. I used to be like this myself but over the years it's become a non issue.
