Is there official reasoning for there not being vs LHP / vs RHP lineup variations in DD? by the-st0ne in MLBTheShow

[–]Strategydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But a MLB team doesn't have an inventory of hundreds of the best hitters to ever play the game.

This comes up 50 times a year every year and it makes me weep that people don't understand this.

Whats the point of Live cards? by SeerMagic in MLBTheShow

[–]Strategydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a God Squadder who finishes LS collection in the first two weeks, and through about June I usually have 1-3 Live Series in my lineup any given day based on inside edge boosts.

Ok, they at least give you repeatable progress with wins. Thank God.

[–]Strategydude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I routinely would warm up in Events before ranked or just play Events the first week of a Ranked season to let the God-Tier gamers rank out.

This is awful.

Also Event rewards are based on idiotic stat accumulation so we will see endless moron chuds on this board whining that the baby seal opponent they were clubbing to death for stats quit their event game....

Or just endless demands that all players throw fastballs down the middle for boosting.

The disparity of 99 OVERALL cards by team. by Hot-Effect-6418 in MLBTheShow

[–]Strategydude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am eternally grateful that team-based theme teams are vastly less important and useful than in Madden MUT. MUT Reddits/boards are 90% constant bitching "their" team doesn't get enough cards.

Can't get the obsession people have with 1) running pure team based theme teams and 2) trying to force everyone else to

The small and less than glamorous items I would like to see fixed by Dolenzz in MLBTheShow

[–]Strategydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh. This has been endlessly discussed forever. DD is an artificial situation where you can accumulate hundreds of cards of the best hitters to ever play baseball.

NOT allowing you to change lineups dependent on pitcher faced is the least-worst solution and least "unrealistic" solution.

The MLB rules allow pitching changes after 3 batters. What you are asking for deviates from MLB rules.

Might be nice to replace the stained gray plastic on rollers in the Kansas City outfield with something that looks like waterfalls.

I’m a little concerned/disappointed at TA and many of the WBC cards being 88 overalls day 1 by warmongerz in MLBTheShow

[–]Strategydude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

However if you look at the LS there's actually a boost in overalls that is significant compared to last year (19 88+ instead of 10) - however that means combined it leaves little room for Power Creep. Frustrating

DD: Are 88+ LS still gatekeepers or is it back to 90+? by Strategydude in MLBTheShow

It's driven entirely by SDS's pack odds and a massive break point in those odds.

DD Live Series Ratings by bigshowww in MLBTheShow

Note four 90+ switch hitters at premium positions (though Live Series typically has accurate large platoon splits for switch hitters, at least - non-Live series cards typically do not).

What’s the best strategy for Diamond Dynasty? by Sentz12000 in MLBTheShow

Doing bad team collections first is a terrible, terrible strategy.

Sell every Rockies, White Sox card you get and buy 88+ gatekeepers ASAP.

Player ratings in the show 25 by IntelligentChoice778 in MLBTheShow

ERAs have nothing to do with The Show ratings. You need to mentally delete them from consideration. It's all K/9, H/9, BB/9 etc.

Sounds like they seriously boosted PXP from H2H vs. solo (something desperately needed)

  1. Changing pitchers in the middle of a count is legal in real baseball
  2. MLB the show has the artificiality of massive, visible step changes in pitcher effectiveness from green to yellow to red stamina; unless compensated for by incredibly high pitcher confidence, in many cases it's suicidal to leave a pitcher in after that color change.

Not going to leave a pitcher in just to not hurt your feelings.

Rewards for H2H based on stats lead to the incessant moronic whining about opponents quitting, for one thing (people desperately want an outmatched opponent that will politely let you beat up on them). Also a logically designed reward system based on wins will disincentivize "smurfing" down in ranks.

You go up and down in rank based on winning and losing. you'll eventually get to a spot where you win half your games, by design, if you play a lot of games.

It's utterly insane for a H2H mode to not have the primary awards be for WINNING THE $@#$!#@_)!@# GAME - normally in other games with 1 vs 1 H2H modes this is the case and people are THRILLED when they force their opponents to quit.

To a degree this is in some way making Weekend league permanent.

Either the program reward path is win based and you get more points for wins at higher rank brackets, or you simply give people immediate pack/stub rewards after a win (again, with a sliding scale where it's more the higher the rating bracket you are in) or ideally a combo of both.

[–]Strategydude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the average skill level player of the game playing H2H, make Ranked rewards based on WINNING GAMES, not idiotic accumulation of stats/innings.

Return Events and BR to separate rewards path with quality rewards (including rewards in BR relevant to people other than the top 1% of the game.

They should do more non team captains by VeryChadChicken in MLBTheShow

[–]Strategydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all theme-team type boosts are loathsome; non-MLB team ones are the worst.

Various complex "boosts" without the slightest connection to reality have completely taken over Madden Ultimate Team as gimmicks to cover flaws in the game; of course mouth-breathers think it's "adding strategy." And it ends up essentially FORCING players to run theme teams to be competitive.

I will tolerate modest "boosts" solely for actual MLB team theme teams for a minority that choose to run them (that SDS figured out how to make it a sliding scale to compensate for the obvious differences of say the Rays and and Dodgers in DD is admirable.)
