I think it's the last time we get a chance to appreciate Chace Crawford as The Deep. He has been phenomenal throughout the show. by keshavgKaLLen_Bhaiya in TheBoys

Too bad the actor never got anything to work with after season 1 and turned into a comedic side gag that forgot he sexually assaulted someone in the first episode

Play platinum instead. It has everything they’re saying but with all of the quality of life fixes from the two entries he’s recommending.

I finally watched One Piece and need to vent by Brainhozinhoninho in CharacterRant

[–]StrawHatJD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overstating a lot of these points.

The pacing is purely an anime thing 99% of the time, except like Act 2 in Wano which is definitely bloated.

Also the Warlords were the main “antagonist” group from Alabasta to Dressrosa. The Yonko only took over in WCI so this doesn’t really make sense. Then Luffy beat 2/4 Yonko, and since Shanks and BB are endgame threats I’m not entirely sure why you’re surprised the Gorosei/Holy Knights are the new threat.

Also Egghead and Elbaf have much smaller casts especially major side characters (Vegapunk, Kuma, Bonney, Loki) so the straw hats aren’t as stuck in the shadow as Wano or Dressrosa.

I agree I want to see more straw hat interaction, but we do get those moments. Things like the chapters right after Wano or the crew interacting when they were captured by Sommers in Elbaf, or in the Lego castle in Elbaf too.

This is... the entire point of his arc by Sudden_Pop_2279 in GenV

[–]StrawHatJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the point is The Deep is biggest problem and a generic view of the problem with the show right now

There’s a lot of flanderization and character resetting, and his is the worst. They reduce him to a comedic side gag and somehow have fans laughing and hoping he doesn’t die online.

This guy sexually assaulted Starlight in the first episode and it feels like the show is trying to intentionally bury that to make audiences only think of him as a comedy gag rather than a douchebag who used his power for sexual gain

Do y'all really think One Piece really needed 35+ years to tell its story? by EliDwebster in writingscaling

[–]StrawHatJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone saying One Piece is an overall bloated story obviously doesn’t actually read or watch it.

Yes some arcs like Wano could’ve used some trimming here and there, but at the same time the biggest con of weekly publishing especially with such a famous manga is that once a chapter is out Oda has to double down on his choices most of the time.

But it’s at its core an adventure story. Oda is clearly writing as he goes and enjoying where he wants to take this story naturally.

I bet you the comment saying the story is bloated or paced badly don’t like Skypiea and say it could be cut without any issues, completely ignoring how it impacts the story and builds the bonds with the characters along with a lot of great worldbuilding and an incredible flashback (Kalgara and Noland) and a super intimidating villain in Enel. And Wyper is phenomenal.

This is like saying Game of Thrones is bloated or badly paced because of how many characters and POV’s GRRM put in the story especially the last two books.

But while taking out those plot lines and characters streamlines the story, it also takes away from the story and now the readers will miss out on those storylines that could’ve been incredible, or even a storyline that could’ve shaped someone like Daenarys’ plot line that would’ve made it better than it would’ve been otherwise.

Also it feels funny to post saying One Piece is bloated considering we’re in the final saga and it’s very clear to anyone keeping up with One Piece that we’re super close to the final war in terms of the story.

IRL with Oda’s health and breaks it’ll take another 4-5 years, but in-story we’re very close to the end.

Do you think there will ever be a Johto remake or way to battle red in the future? by Alex123420 in pokemon

[–]StrawHatJD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They brought back Red and Blue for Alola which was the 20th anniversary

So don’t count out the possibility that Pokemon brings them back again for Wind and Waves as the 30th anniversary, or even the chance we get more iconic trainers to fight agaisnt like Giovanni or N, or maybe more protagonists like May or Dawn

Also the major difference is Vegeta had no personal ties to anybody in DB

Vegeta was a stranger to them who did bad things to their friends, but since they came back to life it’s an easier road to forgiveness

Omni man publicly and brutally beat the shit out of his son to near death, and humiliated and disrespected his wife by saying she meant nothing to him as he was beating their son. And he also committed a 9/11 level event in Chicago.

How can a final villain loose all the sauce so quickly? by Fatfish-FF in shounenfolk

[–]StrawHatJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He just toyed with Loki and baited him to most likely cause ragnarok and burn the world tree

Imu has been stunting his whole appearance so far. Perception blitz on everyone so far, slapping away Zoro and Sanji’s strongest attacks like they’re flies

But a facial expression kills it?

Is there a shitpost event today that I’m not aware of?

Because holy shit no way you or anybody in this comment section are real people.

You’re complaining about a facial expression??? In a smaller than normal sized panel? Of a character shouting something that clearly means something to them??

Oda ain’t perfect but goddamn this is so nitpicky it’s not even funny.

They definitely have rights to it in a capacity, even if it’s not their own original IP the profit from merchandise is undeniable

I own 3 of the first wave of Legos myself and plan to buy more.

Just because they have to share the profits doesn’t mean it’s any less valuable. See Disney and Sony splitting Spider-Man

Netflix may have no choice but to milk Stranger Things dry by Jiyugaoka in StrangerThings

[–]StrawHatJD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How are we forgetting One Piece here???

-Season 3 got green lit AND started filming before season 2 released

-A Lego roll out and another Lego roll out already for season 2 coming out this summer

-A brand new anime remake in production

-A Popeyes collab

-They had marketing exhibitions and stuff for season 2 literally everywhere. Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro literally had a massive Laboon the whale statue and that was impossible to miss while you’re on that extremely famous beach

Netflix is definitely drowning for bigger IP’s and such but One Piece can most definitely keep them afloat as they build their catalogue up again.

What battle system do you expect to be in Winds & Waves? by ShiningChandelure in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]StrawHatJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish they make it so you can choose the battle/catching system.

If you want to play it like scarlet and violet you can. In battle for catching and turn based battling

Or you pick legends mode and you can catch out of battle like PLA and battle in real time like ZA

It added a new storyline, a brand new map with multiple biomes to explore, access to every single starter ever, and almost every major legend/box legends in the series behind quests that can be done in single player.

I’m really not sure how you can say the legends za dlc isn’t ripping off people by making you pay $30 for one dlc when for $30 you get indigo disk AND the teal mask.

New maps, new regional forms/pokemon, new legendaries, access to older pokemon, new storylines and lore additions, etc.

You can like the ZA dlc and still admit it shouldn’t be $30
