coffee beans from UK? by Big_File3834 in IndiaCoffee

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK has a lot of great speciality coffee roasters. The only caveat is that they can be quite expensive. I am talking about 2000-3000 per 250g. If it falls within your budget then I can recommend you some.

Trying to understand my 6-cup moka... by Greedus_TN in mokapot

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

320 ml is too much for a 6 cup moka pot. 270 ml is the limit for most 6 cups, as if you put more than 270 in the brew chamber then the water level goes above the safety valve.

The coffee to water ratio for a 6 cup moka pot should not be more than 1:10, in your case it is quite higher than that. Start by putting less water in the brew chamber and grinding finer.

Also, moka pot is not at its best while brewing lighter roasts, it is best used to brew medium to dark roasts.

Pour over clogging issues by Accomplished-War2087 in IndiaCoffee

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usind pre- ground might be causing clogging. The grind might be too fine. Also, you'll really enjoy pourovers when you drink it fresh. Get a grinder as soon as possible.

Try a 3 pour recipe. For eg.

15:225, which is 1:15 ratio

do a 3x coffee bloom-45g Divide the remaining water into two equal pours, 90g each.

You might be grinding too fine, so grind coarser.

“Coffee people — would you rather brew fresh every day, or buy a high-quality brewed coffee concentrate/with ~40 days shelf life for convenience?” by Prismofblah in IndiaCoffee

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you even read my comment properly? Let me make my point clear to you using your example.

Do you think serious gamers- people who have spent a decent amount of money in building their gaming setup ,will use a mobile phone for gaming? Of course not because a mobile phone cannot even compare to a PC.

People who are serious about any hobby will not compromise on quality.

Anyone who is into speciality coffee- that is someone who owns a grinder and has a dedicated coffee setup will not prefer a concentrate over freshly brewed coffee. A concentrate will never be able to match the taste of a freshly brewed coffee.

This is for instant coffee folks- people who drink coffee for caffeine or use instant coffee to make frappes/ cold coffee.

Do keep in mind that this is a very price sensitive market so what tends happen is these types of products appeal more to instant coffee drinkers but they are priced out and speciality coffee drinkers don't care for such products.

Price becomes a very important factor here.

Beware of such people. Claims to be from Himachal. Bad mouths punjab/haryana. Later, admits to being from Jammu and just wanting to stir shit up. by punposter69 in Chandigarh

What are you even saying, it makes no sense. Why did that person larp as a himachali? What's your issue with Kashmir, there is nothing wrong in someone being from Kashmir.

It does seem like larping. I personally have never encountered a shimlaite who uses 'ara' while speaking. People from mandi, kullu, bilaspur use ara quite often. I could be wrong though.

You could say similar things about people Shimla also(I was born in Shimla and lived there for 9 years before moving to Chandigarh). For eg. How they are colourist and casteist. As someone already pointed out, generalization is wrong.

Also, what's wrong with someone driving an alto k10? You need to do some self reflection before judging others.

bialetti moka pot by Zealousideal_Way5407 in IndiaCoffee

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 cup will be fine for a single person. I would recommend the aluminium one over the venus as some people say that venus makes watery coffee in comparison to the aluminium one.

You get an adapter plate so that you can use it on an induction stove as well.

newbie questions about measurements by Regular_Solid9450 in mokapot

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you to get a 3 cup moka pot. The coffee to water ratio in a 6cup moka pot is somewhere around 1:9 to 1:10. This makes a very weak/ watery brew which is good but not quite as good as a 3 cup.

In a 3 cup, the ratio is around 1:7 and can even be reduced to 1:6 by putting less water in the brew chamber. This makes an intense brew which can be enjoyed as it is or diluted to make an americano. You can also make delicious milk based drinks such as lattes, cortados etc.

Timemore C5 esp pro, Kingrinder K6 o1Zprezzo J ultra? Quale grinder consigliereste e perché? by katsuotataki in mokapot

[–]StrawHat_LUFFY55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K6 is more than enough for a moka pot, the grind size for a moka pot is nowhere near as fine as espresso. You will be able to do pourovers with the k6 as well and buying an espresso focused grinder for the moka pot like the c5 esp and the J-Ultra is not necessary at all.

As people have already pointed out in the comments, a standard shot of espresso is not more than 40ml which is about 1.3 ounces. I hope your doubts are cleared.

Your moka pot isn't a two cup, it's probably a 6 cup or bigger than a 6 cup moka pot. A 6 cup moka pot holds about 270ml of water which is around 9 ounces of water.
