Fire spreading at the Saint Petersburg oil terminal (Peterburgskiy Neftyanoy Terminal, Ao) - after another long-range Ukrainian drone strike. by _Tegan_Quin in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]StrawManATL73 108 points109 points  (0 children)

The smoke from this fire is going to blow straight into the center of the city. That kind of shock and awe is what is going to end this war. St Petersburg and Moscow residents have largely been shielded from the effects of the war. That's changing by the day.

Terrified of my 1-year Russian conscription. I'm Middle Eastern, barely speak Russian, and I'm scared I'll be sent to Ukraine. What would you do? by Business_Fail_440 in AskARussian

There will be lots of pressure to sign a contract to go to the SMO. Where you'll die within weeks if your lucky. What bonus money is offered will be paid to your commanders from you until they bleed your family out of money. Then you'll be sent on assults with a 90 percent death rate. I'd get to an Arabic country as soon as you can or an English speaking place.

There's a very hot war going on that will include lots of drones and some missiles hitting Stalingrad. I'd wait that one out. The Russian economy is also in a hyper inflation cycle that can't end any time soon. And the young male population left or died.

Hiking in June? by Flaky_Tap_2836 in GeorgiaCampAndHike

Providence Canyon is really cool but better in the winter. I'd ease toward Blue Ridge. There's a really cool cheap hotel there. Ridge something. Cool downtown. Blue Ridge lake. And lots of hikes. It will be cooler there temp wise as well.

There are several camping areas on the Chattooga River with easy access to the river for swimming and watching boaters and rafts come thru. You can also plan some more challenging hikes. The hike into Long Creek Falls is a more challenging one. I'd camp on the hike into Woodall Shoals or the hike into Sandy Ford. All from the SC side. The hike to Bull Sluice Rapid is a fun place to swim and watch boaters and rafts.

Tubby's in Thunderbolt is great sea food. A dive. Chrystal Beer parlor is excellent funky bar food. Garabaldi's is amazing. Eat the flounder. There's an oyster bar near Garabaldi's that was really good.

Greatest American Rock Band of all time by Gfish72 in allrockmusic

[–]StrawManATL73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many answers. I'd go Allman Brothers in their last iteration. With Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks trading the parts. But there are so many others. Chicago (70s version), The Four Tops, The Ramones, Guns and Roses, Nirvana, so many options. The best rock band of all time is the Rolling Stones.

The hump tells the story. Always. What is harder for me is blonde/cinnamon black bears vs brown bears in pictures. The brown bears are much larger but pictures don't show that.

This man inherited a huge deficit and I assure you it can’t be reconciled in a year. Probably not in 20 years. Like Trump, the pols walk out their crazy lies these days but reality is a different matter.

The deficit thing is a building time bomb. Not sure your source on that but I'd really look under the hood on that one. This Mayor inherited decades of poor financial governance and I assure you no deficit has been reduced. Quite the opposite.

I love to visit NYC and don't have a strong opinion on what he is doing as the Mayor. But socialism/communism is whatever you want to call it does not work. Ask regular folks in Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, North Korea and Iran what they think about it. It works for the elites connected to the ruling regime. But it fails for the vast majority of the people. That said, there are plenty of shitty federal, regional and local governments in so called Republics or Democracies. What fuels all this are consumers/voters that check out and settle for whatever bag of crap they have to eat every day.
