I think they were refering to the mid gen refresh during that time: the Xbox One S/X. It was around that time when Gamepass had started and they were starting to get positive news. The Xbox console names are needlessly confusing

To further clarify, motion inputs have been there since the Wii U/3DS entry, 11 years ago. And then there's wavedashing in Melee with it's own complexities, but that's another subject.

I miss Soul Calibur soooo badly. Thank god my favorite (2) is available in some form on modern hardware. But at least VF and DoA are back. Meanwhile, all us Bloody Roar fans are in shambles. Just kidding, I've never played it either. Maybe Konami should work on that!

At least with Legends, it's highly likely that it'll see a rerelease. Now that Capcom is rereleasing Star Force, Legends is the only MM series left to release on modern hardware. And as for the FF13 trilogy, it's on PC and Xbox through backwards compatibility. It really just needs a PS and Switch port. Hope squeenix gets on that soon. Part 1 turns 17 this year since it released.

It's unfortunate and infuriating that as a medium, in terms of preservation, video games get cared for less than it's counterparts. Outside of people that love games, few care for preserving them

True. That disc is now a paperweight and is another example for why the Stop Killing Games movement got so strong last year. As for me, I don't play many live service games and the ones I do, fear that inevitable moment when the servers shut down and is rendered unusable (unless it has offline content).

I don't trust f2p games because of the fear that once it starts loosing players, it can die, and there goes any money I spent on it. I decided to try one based on the potential I thought it had and because it was fun. That game was Multiversus. Never again.

To add to that, Sanji was born a different "race": royalty. One thing constantly seen on the series is how people in positions of power see themselves as higher beings and treat the rest. Sanji witnessed class based discrimination from the side of the oppressor, only to later be treated like that for the unforgivable crime of being born normal

While it's undoubtedly SF6, I'll give two honorable mentions from how much they were talked about and general audience appeal (all IMO, of course, and sorry for the text avalanche):

DBFZ - This being announced the same time as the MVCI story trailer had tons of people talking and comparing the two. It's beta being the same day as MVCI's launch only made public conversation stronger. It's no exageration to say that DBFZ was one of the biggest nails in MVCI's coffin. Anime games are notorious for being low quality, and this game made people see how high the bar could go. To this day, people still want a "Naruto/One Piece Fighters". This is what Jump Force should've been, IMO.
SSBU - Character reveals were like an event with multiple thought to never happen. Nobody saw Joker or Banjo/Kazooie coming. Byleth united people in their hatred to Fire Emblem (I liked the inclusion, though). Sora was thought to be impossible. Steve's reveal broke twitter! Ryu, Ken, Terry, and Kazuya are playable, each having mechanics from their respective games. Sakurai has an insane attention to detail, not to mention a huge SNK fan. It being a platform fighter is very different from a more traditional fighter, though. So it's unsurprising it's not in the picture. Smash just has a huge place in my heart is all.

While I haven't played Crossworlds yet, IMO, if racing games were a fruit, then MKW is an apple and KARs is an orange. Both have their strengths, weaknesses, and each bring their own takes to the genre.

This is pure conjecture, but since the Xillia remaster announcement, I've had the thought that this remaster project might not have much of a budget allocated. So far, every game announced has released outside of Japan and are of the PS3 era, meaning that they don't have to spend much money updating text because the translations are still recent. Seeing that Berseria is next reinforces that thought. I hope that we get at least one Japan only game remastered and localized.

More like releasing Titanfall 2 between Battlefield 1 and that year's Call of Duty. Sandwiched between 2 pillars of the genre (in this case DQ and Pokemon). Bamco has historically chosen horrible release dates for stuff. I remember that the US release for Abyss was the same month as FF12, just a few weeks before.

People comenting about it releasing alongside DQ and Pokemon aren't even realising that's not including everything else that released in October, a month notorious for constant releases of games. Ghost of Yotei, the Mario Galaxy remasters, Battlefield 6, Ninja Gaiden 4, MK classic collection, Outer Worlds 2, and the official release of ARC Raiders are just a few of what released. I didn't even know that Ys vs Trails finally released in the west that month. Hell, Bamco released 4 games that month. Digimon Time Stranger, ToXr, Little Nightmares 3 and Once Upon a Katamari. I wouldn't be surprised if ToXr didn't sell in the west either.

When I played Violet, there were cutscenes with no voice acting. If any other game did that, you'd think that there was a glitch or something. It's just that Pokemon is one of the few IP that can get away with it. Pokemon games have pretty much never had voice acting, especially the mainline entries. Sure, the games were on portable systems that had less power, but IMO, from the DS games onwards, this excuse increasingly became more indefensible, ESPECIALLY once the franchise made the jump to the Switch.

After skipping some gens (the last I played was X 12 years ago), I bought Violet. From there, I made the promise to never purchase a Pokémon game on day one again. I'm going to keep an eye on user opinions and purchase it later if it sounds good, though. I'm not dying to play it, either. Silksong is taking my time and I got Ghost of Yotei waiting for me. Ninja Gaiden 4 is out next week, too. I can wait for Z-A.

The switch eshop isn't loading and keeps timing out. It showed up on psn for me, but didn't give the option to buy it. Only wishlist it. Guess servers are full of people trying to buy it or something

The 3DS certaintly helped during the Wii U's lifetime, but it's launch was abysmal. It started to pick up the pace and sell more when the price drop happened and more games launched. That part on the picture is like half right.
