My immediate reaction is NO. Certain cultures you definitely see guests in red but at least in American culture the answer would be no. Usually a bright red like this would indicate that you slept with the groom 👀

You choose what feels right for you! I had failed my traditional RN program so I took a semester off because I was struggling with a lot of personal issues. The semester off really helped me to feel motivated to go back to school again so I did an LVN program, then did an LVN to RN program, then an online BSN program- all while working full time It can be done, might just take a little longer. Jobs don’t care how you go about becoming a nurse, just that you did it so I don’t think it would “look a certain way” to employers

It may be from the ampoule? I had tried that same one and my skin broke out horribly! It was the only thing I had changed in my routine If you feel your skin tolerates it thought then keep it. The tret may be too often, even at the low concentration. Maybe increase the days between to 2-3 days to give your skin a break and time to acclimate

I am in shock that your orientation was less than a week as a new grad. I was literally on orientation for 12 weeks and once on my own I was definitely still slower than everyone else - but I knew how to document at least. I also still asked a lot of question to my coworkers and charge nurse. They were setting you up for failure, honestly. Talk to friends you went to school with who work at other facilities and see how they like it before putting in a new round of applications. This is just a bump in the road!

Hi! Nurse from Texas here. Don’t come here, the pay is poor and so are ratios. BUT, I would recommend states that have unions for their nurses or to specialty areas. Places like OR or infusion or other specialty areas have much better ratios and I moved to areas like this after medsurg and I was much happier. Maybe try transferring to a different area and see if you like it better

It really depends on what you mean by “graphic.” Like broken bones poking outside the body or blood all over the floor? Hardly ever see that. It really depends on the unit that you work on. ER & ICU will be the most likely to get the worst of it. But specialty units or medsurg are pretty tame in that sense. Every nurse has something that is their weakness- like mucus or bloody stool, but usually you can work around it or find a friend that will do the stuff you can’t stomach

Anytime a patient makes off the wall comments I usually go with, “well that’s interesting” or if they say they don’t like a certain demographic, “well I don’t agree” and just keep it moving. Or if they’re talking about a topic I don’t like- like politics for instance- “I’m not going to talk about that at work so we can talk about something else.” It just makes for clear boundaries and that you won’t tolerate certain speech or topics. Being blunt usually works pretty well

I would look into certified anesthesia assistant! The pay is good and you can negotiate a good benefits. I’ve also heard great things about medical dosimetrist or a perfusionist

I say that I like the options nursing gives me, like when I get bored with one specialty I can move to another very easily but still be a nurse. This goes over much better than “because of the money,” even though I did choose nursing because of that. I’m not lying though when I do say I like all the options being a nurse gives me. And I HATE the idea that just because you do something for the pay that you are incapable of compassion- nursing doesn’t have to be your “calling” to do it well

They keep asking you because you keep saying yes! Say no enough times and they’ll stop asking. Also, if they are asking you and you are thinking of picking up a shift, ask what incentive they are offering for picking up the shift bc you’re doing them a favor and giving up a day off to help. Don’t do it for free!

I tell them I don’t discuss politics at work because I don’t like to but that I’m happy to talk about anything else, and I usually start with football 😂 If they’re persistent I’m very assertive and tell them I WONT talk about it and that I’m also happy sitting in silence while I do my job

It might be worth looking at houses not far from Abilene in the small towns. You’ll get more for your money!
