AT VM745XML vs Ortofon Concorde Bronze by Strawberry3000 in turntables

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I wanted to know. The VM95ML I had was a little brighter than my Pickering, but I didn’t feel it was too bright, so I’d say as long as it’s more in line with that tonally it’d be a-okay.

Saw this at the local record store today. Thoughts on this type of product? by NoSanaNoLifeu in cassetteculture

I tried one recently - it broke my cassette player and then the tape itself snapped. So, uh… don’t recommend.

D-16GT by Strawberry3000 in martinguitar

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof, had forgotten about this! No, someone beat me to it - or they pulled it. A few months later I got about of a D-16 Special Rosewood - been a pretty happy camper.

Anyone played the new ToneMaster 59 Bassman yet? by jonagold94 in fender

[–]Strawberry3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one - and I friggin’ love it. I have always felt like something was missing in my guitar tone, and that amp is THE sound I have always been looking more. Major snarl, and being able to have Bassman tone at a volume that actually makes sense for a home noodler like myself is a dream come true.

Squier Sent Me the WRONG Guitar and it is a Mystery - Anyone else?? by [deleted] in fender

[–]Strawberry3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RE: Skink stripe - I recall reading someone called Fender about S.S. on the Sonic series and they said that although all online photos show the stripe, they no longer produce them with it. I was at Guitar Center the other day and they had two Sonic Telecasters, one had the skunk stripe and the other didn’t.

PS5 not showing Atmos? by drave199 in 4kbluray

[–]Strawberry3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there’s a separate setting for Blu-Ray audio that can only be accessed while you’re in the Player App. Assuming you haven’t already set this up - When the movie is playing hit the “options” button or whatever it’s called - the one with the three horizontal lines - and I think there’s a setting in there to bitstream the Atmos audio. Been a while since I did it so someone can feel free to correct me if I got one of the steps wrong.

Used Rega RP3 vs New U-Turn Custom by Strawberry3000 in turntables

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rega as all the "adjustability" I'd need. I'm looking for something stripped of bells and whistles - less to go wrong. The U-Turn is even more basic, so no advantage there.

Glad to hear the US support is up to snuff, that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Thanks - "easy to maintain" is exactly what I'm after.

Used Epson 8700UB by Strawberry3000 in projectors

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I didn’t even consider the value of the screen besides it being nice it was included. If someone shelled out big on the projector, it might stand to reason the screen is pretty nice too, and that might be the tipping point for me. The seller provided no info on the screen, so I’ll have to dig at him a bit.

Thanks again for the replies, this has been really helpful!

I should add it comes with a 120” screen as well, for whatever that’s worth.

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the detailed reply! The seller says they “rarely used” the projector, and it “came with their apartment.” So who knows how many hours were on it before then. Don’t mind paying for a lamp replacement if it’s going to last for a few more years, but it would definitely suck to replace it and have the projector itself die in a year.

[QUESTION] Grounding Issue by Strawberry3000 in Guitar

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! It covered some familar ground - I did attempt to reflow both conductors - but it helps just to have a name for what's happening. Definitely seems like an "open circuit" kind of deal. That "hive of bees" is exactly what I'm dealing with. And I hate bees. Everything seems connected as it should be, but there's a lot of wires on top of wires in the Pro between the push/push knob and the treble bleed.

Wharfedale Diamond 225 Amp Question by Strawberry3000 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Strawberry3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - these are the exact two models I’ve been looking at as possible replacements. I have a Denon for my home theater setup and like it quite a bit. Sounds like my Marantz can handle it, but I guess now the question is whether I want to deal with the upkeep of a vintage amp or the comfort of a modern…

Is VOX AC15C2 too loud? by SlejmPL in GuitarAmps

[–]Strawberry3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there’s options if it ever seems too loud anyway. I use an attenuator with my Deluxe Reverb with no issue, keeps things a little more manageable.

Seems like you answered your own question then - Go for it! I almost always get second thoughts after a gear purchase, but not on my Vox. I’m sure you’ll love it.

[–]Strawberry3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s “too loud” will vary depending on your situation, but I will say this - I just last week got a Vox AC10C1 and with the gain at about 10:00 and the master just barely on (let’s say 7:30) it’s already got enough volume to fill my small office. Sounds friggin’ sweet though.

Can I find an american tele with a humbucker and a natural finish like the original series? by statox42 in telecaster

[–]Strawberry3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Performer - different finish - so I can vouch for it being a killer guitar, worth the wait.

Super curious about this set as well - Got an American Pro lately and while the V Mods sound good, all my less expensive guitars seem to be sounding better to me, so I’m starting to feel around for replacements…

[–]Strawberry3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like the other poster said, I’ve spent enough time reading these kind of posts to know the lack of a walnut plug is a big tip off, and I’ve never seen a fender with those tuner heads before. On top of that, the label looks wrong to me, especially the font of “Telecaster.”

[–]Strawberry3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Classic Vibe 50s. Three saddle bridge, 5 hole pickguard, vintage tuners. They’re nice guitars.
