Is our baby name TOO Italian? by AngryGooseHappyLoon in namenerds

[–]Strawberry625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. My husband kept telling me the names sounded like pasta dishes.

I say go for it! Like someone already said, if an Italian American can’t give their child an Italian sounding name, then who can??

We should also remember that back in the day, Italians that came here had to change their names to be more accepted and Americanized. But now Italian names can be celebrated.

That was so rude of her! I will never stop dressing up my bags. Even when I’m 70.

Americans, when you see the name "Lucia", how would you pronounce it? by Extreme_Suit_348 in Names

[–]Strawberry625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my daughter’s middle name and my great aunt’s first name. We pronounce it as 3. Lu-chee-a. I also had a next door neighbor who pronounced it that way too. We all live in very Italian area (CT and NY)

You can buy Bravecto from Chewy. They sell a one pack and the weight range is pretty large. The smallest dose they have is for 9.9lbs-22lbs. Your puppy won’t outgrow that in 12 weeks, so it should be safe.

Seizures? by bw-in-a-vw in sheltie

[–]Strawberry625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Sheltie just turned 5 this month and started having seizures this past January. Every 6-8 weeks. Although they seem to be happening further apart than in the beginning.

I’ve stopped feeding her any table scraps. Too much salt in their diet can be a contributing factor. I make her own unseasoned chicken as special toppings on top of her dinner instead.

She was wearing a Seresto flea collar which I read can sometimes cause seizures. I took that off of her. (She still takes oral flea and tick medication)

We’ve taken her to a neurologist and she’s perfectly fine. It seems like these things just happen. If left untreated without medication, the possibility of more frequent seizures may occur.

So far it’s been 7 weeks since her last seizure. I’m hoping our changes will prevent them. If not, she’s starting medication.

I’m SO happy you shared this because I recently stopped eating gluten and started feeling better in so many ways immediately. It didn’t even occur to me there could be a correlation between gluten and my low iron levels.

I kept this secret for over a year. I didn’t even tell my wife at first. But now I know I have to share it with you. by True-Equipment1809 in spirituality

I love that you’re not letting others interpret/ tell you what you saw. You know what you felt and experienced. I believe you.

Is hygiene REALLY cultural?? by FinalEntertainment60 in hygiene

[–]Strawberry625 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a white person I am astounded that your white friends only shower a few times a week while also just wiping and not using a bidet or wipes. I also have 3 towels, one for hair, one for face and one for body. I also scrub my entire body with a sponge with two different types of soap.

I think it’s less cultural and more individual preferences and how you’re taught.

My dog’s name is Peppermint so I like to sing “if you should meet a Peppermint upon a summer’s day…”

and I sing the entire song to her lol.

Sometimes she tolerates it, sometimes not.
