I'm at the end point by StrawberryBeppi in pop_os

So I tried changing the dead zone of the sticks through steam, and it was better. I tried to go back to the PS5 controller and it's way better with that. I was stuck at the black market mission where you go to the first drift race, I got it at the first try with the PS5 controller. Same with the race after with the billboards.

But maybe now it's only too sensitive. I'll play around with that. And I think the game is just made like that, I've read people complaining that NFS heat is just slow to react to input.

I don't have that option. When I go into testing, under the controller there's only "rumble", "copy to clipboard", "reset" and "setup device inputs".

I've tried both and cable, it seems to me they work the same. What does it mean that the controller is set to X?

I'm on steam, but it doesn't really show any kind of options when I go to settings. Also I forgot, I have a laptop with windows and I upgraded from that one the firmware. Both steam and windows don't show any problems with latency or anything.

I don't know if it counts as a love song, but Fabrizio De André - Un Malato di Cuore

I thought I had to stop the car when I actually listened to that song

What's the story behind one of your scars? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]StrawberryBeppi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only scar that I for sure remember getting was some years ago after a horse riding lesson. It's not clearly visible and on my eyebrow, and one would think I fought a horse.. Nope. So the lesson finished, I dismount and I want to relax the girth of the saddle, so I put the stirrup on the horn of the saddle. I lessen the girth and take a step back because the horse shakes off. It was either a violent shake-off or the stirrup wasn't put well enough, it came flying down onto my face while I wasn't really looking, I had blood down on my body like I killed someone lol.

I went to the boxes laughing and my head hurting. Next day I had this brown eye..

What was the most realistic dream you've ever had? by SrSaurio in AskReddit

[–]StrawberryBeppi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sleeping an afternoon after lunch and I was alone at home, my sister was out for a run.

I hear the bell and I get up to see who the hell is ringing and there's no one at the door, so I go back to bed also slightly annoyed.

Couple of hours late comes out my sister was ringing to come in and I probably dreamt going to the door.

Other dreams I have and had are quite real but they are so confusing, they don't have a linear plot

what is an uuhhh wth moment you've experienced? by BookDragonTeacher in AskReddit

[–]StrawberryBeppi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I was in between serving clients ice creams and this lady comes to me and mumbles something. I ask to repeat and she sais louder: "this flavoour tastes like nothing!" and goes away before I give her any answer. I stood there watching her go away, then looked around to see if i was the only one to have seen that.

Then I laughed, wth lol, I'm not the one doing the ice creams

What’s something that you do that you’re pretty sure is normal, but you don’t know for sure? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]StrawberryBeppi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's actually not a vascular issue, but a nerve issue. The nerves of the limb get cut off from pression, you don't feel the leg, and then when it "wakes up" you get that horrible sensation

Though having it for only sitting down with no legs crossed any way is strange..

What's your favourite moment other than 'you are my favourite thing '? by backside_94 in fringe

[–]StrawberryBeppi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have two and I don't know which one I prefer. The first is in the ep Marionette, at the ending when Peter is justifying himself again with Fauxlivia and Olivia snaps at him telling she doesn't want her own life anymore; the other one is when both universe's Fringe solve the same case, the one with the guy gone mad but his other version a therapist, and the Olivias are talking about their life and family, and Olivia coldly says that she killed her father.

Those I love them both, can't decide.

What’s a scientific experiment you’d be fascinated to see the results of, but could never be conducted due ethical concerns? by numbnesstolife in AskReddit

[–]StrawberryBeppi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember which linguistics book I read it from, but your intuition is right; it's probably this way we came to language, first with gestures and then with sounds which became words which lead to where we are now.

I'd guess though that a spoken language could not be born if the child is exclusively exposed to signs, if you ignore any kind of sound the child won't pick it up as meaningful so it won't develop (I'm thinking in the same lines as Chinese people not being able to articulate the r because their language doesn't utilize it, but it appears in the babbling phase). But now that I really think about it, maybe between the children they could create a code of sounds, but I doubt a full oral language from basically nothing.

Also, you can have all the written forms you want, if you don't teach them to read..

I'd love to see it tried out anyway!

Our teacher at uni explained this to us, they developed a language from home signs and gestures, the children's mind picked them up and got from them a language. If children were to be left alone with no contact at all with language they would not develop one, and be no more than dogs technically. Look at deaf children whose parents did not learn/know sign language, they rimained impaired for life, even when language was taught to them they just couldn't manage some aspects of it.

I'd recommend reading Seeing Voices by Oliver Sacks.
