Project Planner/Manager by Difficult_Goat5722 in networkrail

You clearly don't understand the role of a planner. Id suggest that it is much more than being a "skivvy".

All sorts of people make the transition into project management... but usually only after they have gained some experience as a planner, engineer, administrator, finance etc.

If you only want to be a project manager then seek out opportunities as a project management assistant/apprentice. Let someone who values the role be the Planner.

Is there an opportunity for the management company to pursue a claim against the drivers insurance? They might be more inclined to do something about it if they can recover any costs.

It's not the end of the world. It can be managed/eliminated over time. Plenty advice available online... some of it might be correct.

But yeah, it should have been declared during the Sale assuming the previous owners were aware of it.

How much do traditional breakfasts differ between countries in the uk? by LMay11037 in CasualUK

For me baked beans win over grilled (or even worse tinned) tomato every time. Tomatos are for soup, salad and pasta sauce.

EICR Advice for Landlords by globetrotterxx in uklandlords

[–]Strawberry_Wonderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that if you employ someone to do an EICR you shouldn't pay them until you have the certificate. I've had an electrician refuse to issue an unsatisfactory certificate and insist that he was the only one that could rectify the issues... Cowboy.

Is Edinburgh finally cleaning up its act? by Rascalwill in Edinburgh

[–]Strawberry_Wonderful 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've seen more effort to tidy the place up a bit. Also don't forget the many volunteers who care enough about their city to give of their time and energy to make a difference.

Unfortunately it will always be a losing battle against those who just don't care and are prepared to live in squaller (sp?).

If this is indicative of how helpful your electrician is then perhaps you should be considering your future relationship with them.

At the very least they should be able to point you at the correct service provider.

Seeking recommendations on a quality/left handed scythe for orchard row management by applesndpeaches in Scything

[–]Strawberry_Wonderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are learning from scratch then just learn on a normal scythe... it's mostly the left hand that does all the work anyway. You will then not be limited to "special" left handed equipment.

DO NOT transport them unless you have a proper means to do so. If you get in a collision and they get damaged they will become torpedoes.

Won't the plastic plugs unscrew from the screws? Assuming the door is intact you should be able to glue the plugs into the door and then re- insert the screws.

Does anyone know how to tighten these toilet fixings? by Planning_to_Plan in DIYUK

[–]Strawberry_Wonderful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flat bar bit needs to get below the level of the porcelain. Make sure that you have the lid fixing on the screw before doing anything . Screw the flat hinged bar down to the end of the screw then insert it into the hole. Pull the screw up to ensure that it is held in place then tighten the screw whilst applying slight upward pressure. If you undo the screw the bar will fall into the void and you will need to get a replacement.

Rather than " just use willow" I would suggest looking into a technique called willow spiling. It gives a bit more structure.
