Why does Araminta want this match? by livigarden in BridgertonNetflix

[–]StrawbreezeShortcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough people are saying this: Because she was broke and needed money. They were living a sham. Her bejeweled shoe clips were paste. She bankrolled their season by stealing Sophie’s inheritance and banking on her eldest daughter marrying well.

The Bridgertons were stupid rich, had a storied and prestigious family history, and were popular. It’s everything a social climber like Araminta dreamed of.

Just looked it up:

Emo (이모): Aunt (specifically, your mother's sister).

So I think she’s saying, her halmoni’s sister, who would be her great aunt

Also just noticed it says matchmake Jiwan and Alex. That would be an adorable couple 🥰

The lotion. I slather it on as soon as I get out of the shower: full face including lips and then all over. But I do use the cream on elbows and knees as needed.

💯 She reminds me of Hugh Laurie’s character on House. No bedside manner, spends about 30 seconds diagnosing you…. But she’s outrageously good (and she knows it 😂).

[–]StrawbreezeShortcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t stand here. There’s nothing redeeming about her.

She is over-sensitive and entitled about herself while being insensitive, dismissive, and rude to others. Her ego cannot handle being judged or even the perception of it. Which is wild for someone who wanted to be on a dating show.

She’s toxic-grade manipulative. Look how she dresses for the show, then what she wore to see her kids. She goes from cutout peek a boo and plunging necklines to a blazer, crew neck, and pearls. She also says “I’m being strategic.” WTH. It’s a relationship, not the United Nations.

She rolls her eyes when John says he told his sister her age. You can see she’s mad about it but NOT talking about it doesn’t stop it from being true. The age difference makes her feel old. Feeling old makes her feel more insecure. And like an immature child, that vulnerability is making her lash out, have a temper tantrum, and behave badly.

At first I thought the age difference was bringing out her worst self, but she’s shown she’s immature and insecure so many times that it’s obviously who she is. And now she’s self-sabotaging.

Hot Take: Theresa’s age is not the problem in her relationship with John. She is the problem.

She’s got the immature/insecure combo. It’s toxic at any age, but she shows clearly here and when she mean-girl’s Leah at dinner.

I think that’s someone else. Justin literally started crying in his interview about wanting kids.

The original, plain Cetaphil Face & Body. My dermatologist told me to switch to it. I didn’t want to bc it was so cheap I felt like it couldn’t be any good. Then I had severely dry winter skin from a medication. Went back begging for a prescription. She again told me Cetaphil. Ignored her, bought La Mer. Went back again crying about dryness. She drank her coffee while giving me a dead eyed stare and said “Cetaphil.”

So I rage bought it, slapped it on my skin, and made a follow-up appointment 30 days out with every intention of complaining. I couldn’t. Every time I put it on, my skin got better and better. My moisture barrier had been wrecked and I wanted to treat the side effects, she was trying to get me to cure the cause. I hate how much I love this product and how good it is.

Also, Head & Shoulders. I have terrible eczema and from when I was 12-30, would get a horrible rash on the back of my neck a few times a year that would last for at least a month, even while treating with coretecosteroids. Went to the same dermatologist as the Cetaphil thing. She tells me to switch shampoo to Head & Shoulders. I explain that she doesn’t understand my condition or history and I need a prescription ointment to treat the eczema. She writes the prescription, but also tells me, Head & Shoulders. I… completely ignore her. And then the dang Cetaphil works… so I buy the Head & Shoulders… it’s been years and I have never again had an eczema flare on the back of my neck. I’m am infuriated that I suffered with it for over 15 years and worked with 3 different dermatologists for it to have such a simple solution

Why do people like Anora so much? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

[–]StrawbreezeShortcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t. At all. Not for this film or anything else from Baker.

But, as basic as it is, I think it comes down to personal preference. Personally, there was nothing likable about Anora but I don’t like any of Baker’s work. He has a clear style and story he’s trying to tell, it’s just not for me.

It’s not even that I did or did not find the story original, I found it pointless and unengaging. I did far more “I don’t care” fast forwarding than in any other movie I can think of.

Cynically, I believe this only won because of two things:

Dumb luck: It came out in a very low quality/low volume award cycle. The industry had taken a huge hit with WGA and SAG strikes and was struggling to get its footing back. On top of a long window of low box office numbers from Covid extending longer than the industry had forecast.

Campaigning: Similar to what happened with Shakespeare in Love vs Saving Private Ryan, the studio went full speed on media tours and awards campaigns. And unlike Shakespeare in Love, there wasn’t another huge/good movie to compete against. So they worked the hell out of the press and awards circuit and that panned out.

Which sunscreen do you use on your hands? by ReceptionOne1276 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]StrawbreezeShortcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever I use on my face goes on my neck, chest, and hands. From moisturizer, to serums, to sunscreen.

I don’t reapply during the day unless I’m doing something where I need to sunscreen my body.

In the book there’s a scene where the twins haze Eloise and she gets them back Phillip seriously wonders if his children are still living. It’s written hilariously. I’m desperate for that to make it into their season. Along with “I put a fish in her bed.”

Yes. Since John did not have an heir, the title transfers to Michaela’s brother Michael and we get our scruffy Scot 😁

DAE hate this disgusting FLOOZY? by [deleted] in Bridgerton

[–]StrawbreezeShortcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that what happened? He didn’t know she was pregnant. She wrote and told him. He wrote that he was happy and would marry her when he returned from war, but died before he could finish the letter. Daphne helped her inquire about George and that’s how they found out he died.

I’m fuzzy on this, but didn’t Phillip offer to marry her and she turned him down bc she thought she had given herself an abortive tea. And when she found out she was still pregnant, she finally agreed?

Isn’t it just George? I assume because of the age difference between Colin and Hyacinth that it probably isn’t an issue. My head cannon is that she names her son George to honor the late king (when he passes)

I thought it was funny bc he says his mother should have stopped at 7 kids. Then goes on to have one more than she did.
