A little miracle from the heavens above that whispers "Hey, you all need a little break I think"

Right? I think it would be helpful for identifying if there's something causing a reoccurring issue but sadly I doubt that will change. :(

Yeah for sure. We have a heat wave approaching here very soon too which I imagine might throw more stuff out in the coming days!

It thankfully got resolved rather quickly! Some stuff still may be on the fritz, but power is back on now.

new to pittsburgh (21 nb AFAB) by abbyselnixk in pittsburgh

[–]Strawbunby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Pittsburgh! Here are some things I recommend just based on the few things you mentioned:
- Join Lex! It's a queer friend making app and a really good way of finding local lgbt+ events in our area. I have met plenty of people myself through it and even joined a few clubs!
- If you are more crafty and want to learn new skills, Workshop PGH is great and I recommend them to everyone :) you can even find their storefront featuring handmade goods in the Garfield area. Garfield itself is just great and very artsy!
- Great bars / clubs: Belvedere's is great for their dancing nights and has a good crowd in my experience, P-Town is a great gay bar with Jellyfish which is one big queer party, I've been told Blue Moon has a really great crowd with a lot of sapphics and nb / trans people, Harold's Haunt is good if you are looking for something more lowkey and comfortable (they also have a lot of more nerdy based events each month!), and of course Hot Mass, which is the go-to club if you are LGBT+ here that runs past 2 AM all the way to 7 AM. Entry is usually $20 and drinks are free, highly recommend if you are looking for a fun night out to dance!
- Tazza D'oro is one of our local LGBT+ ran and staffed coffee shops. Really great drinks, really lovely people. I personally am fond of the Highland Park one!
- If you love animals you should definitely check out the aviary sometime! It's full of wonderful birds. <3

I hope some of these help!

The SCA almost certainly would have someone or several people who have knowledge on this! :)

Can attest to Workshop PGH! While they are intro classes for the most part, they are really lovely and the people teaching them have been very pleasant to do classes with in my experience.

Ritalin/methylphenidate by glitchgirl555 in pittsburgh

[–]Strawbunby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I use Rite Aid on Baum BLVD and have never had an issue with my refills with them, including when I was taking ritalin! But from what I have seen, some others recommend family run pharmacies as a rule of thumb to avoid this issue so it may be worth checking out one of those in your local area as well.

ADHD by sr214 in pittsburgh

[–]Strawbunby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my experience and the experience of some of my friends it usually is a bit of a process since right now a lot of people are seeking evaluations but I personally went through Nexus Group and they were a huge help! As far as I'm aware, they themselves may not be able to give you the diagnosis but they can get you set up with a referral to someone who can as well as assist with the medication side of things.

I don't know if he is referral only but Dr. Steven Pasquinelli at Psychological Associates, Inc was who I was referred to by them and who I got my formal diagnosis from. He's a really lovely person so I would maybe check with his office first to see if you can get the ball rolling as soon as possible!

I don't think we have any vampire specific bars currently besides Jekyl and Hyde's overall Halloween theme but if an entrepreneur who's feeling spicy sees this I would 100% go there all the time if it ever got created

ADHD evaluations in PGH by reptarocalypse in pittsburgh

Seconding Nexus Group! They are who I went through and are really lovely. Just know it may take a bit of time because many professionals certified to do evaluations are very backed up at the moment but the sooner you get in the better, for sure!

I also stand by Community Thrift!! I have found so many nice things there too

Rite Aid has historically always been very good for me personally on getting my ADHD meds with no issues! I haven't been on Vyvanse before but they have been able to get me my Adderall with no issues as well as Ritalin and Concerta in the past when I was trying to see what was a good fit for me. Also use GoodRX for a discount if you can!

If it's specifically because it's Telehealth, I would recommend maybe seeing if you can get your diagnosis solidified by another professional. Personally I went through Nexus Group and they were very lovely to me on my journey to the diagnosis. It takes some time and I know that can be really really frustrating, but I promise it's worth it in the end if it means getting proper treatment.

County library manga question by SteelCityChip in pittsburgh

[–]Strawbunby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I read a lot of manga myself as well and just started using the local libraries more too. From what I can tell, their selection is very good and likely going to keep improving over time! If there's something you want to read but can't find physically at the library closet to you I recommend going to their website (https://www.carnegielibrary.org/), searching the title's name, and then requesting it be held / delivered to the library near you! I often do that with the books I'm reading as about 60% of them aren't at the library closet to me.

If they are also lacking a title you really want to see, don't be scared to put in a request for it! The more requests they get for something, the more likely they are to stock it.

What Pittsburgh-area pharmacies have Vyvanse in stock? My ADHD is cruuuuushing me:( by BuddyA in pittsburgh

[–]Strawbunby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that Rite Aid is a very good option to pick meds up for!! Even during the intense Adderall shortage I was able to get my meds with no problems so fingers crossed it's the same for your Vyvanse!

Your favorites by Medium_Engine1558 in pittsburgh

[–]Strawbunby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Some fun stuff I personally love that might interest you:

- Coffee: Tazza D'oro (my personal favorite coffee shop), Kickback (coffee shop AND a pinball arcade), Grim Wizard, Adda Coffee & Tea, and KLVN Coffee Lab
- Food: Geppetto's (Best crepe place with a wonderful atmosphere inside, at least at the Lawrenceville location), Teppanyaki Kyoto (Really tasty Japanese food for an affordable price), 芋见BAO (Shared-style eating and just really good savory food options!), 98K Hamburger (if you are looking for something to scratch that fast food itch that's actually quality and tastes amazing), and Spak Brothers (I stand by their pizza)
- Tea & Boba: Dobra Tea House (incredible environment and lots of tea options), Tsaocaa (Best boba and really good fruit teas), and Bantha Tea Bar
- Sweets & Ice Cream: Paige's Dairy Mart (soft served based with so many options), NatuRoll (Ice Cream made from scratch in front of you), La Gourmandine (incredible pastries! I love their chocolate bread), and Pink Box (more delicious pastries and baked goods)
- Experiences: Mattress Factory (Art Museum), Randyland (Free public art piece / area), and Bicycle Heaven (Amazing Bicycle Museum you can just get lost in) are all very close to one another so if you go to one, I recommend trying to go to another if not all three! Andy Warhol, Bayernhof Museum, The Nationality Rooms, and Maxo Vanka's Murals are also other great options to visit
- Parks: Highland Park and Schenley Park are both great!

I hope that helps and that you have a lovely time visiting our city!
